Was it just me or did we have a woody on Sunday for running between the tackles. I can only remember 2 times when MA ran wide, once for a touchdown and another for a first down. What about a pitch play or an off tackle run or Rod Smith end around. NE stacked the middle on us and we refused to adapt. I think Pittsblurb will do the same. We can be stopped between the tackles and I think we need to use Tatums' speed on the outside. We need to have balance on offense to beat the Stealers. Comments anyone?

I don't know about "wide," ... I prefer "wild" ... we'll run WILD on Sunday.

I've been wondering why we don't use Tatum much on pitchouts as well. His speed around the edge ought to be a nice weapon, and a good way to free up the bootleg as well. I'm also wondering why Jake's throwing so much from the pocket over the last few games. Where is the rollout and the boot? They've almost dissapeared at times. Jake's done pretty well in the pocket but I still like him on the run better, especially with our smaller mobile O-line.

We haven't seen the "option pitch" for a few weeks nor have we seen a reverse in a while. I think we'll see some plays this weekend we haven't seen ALL year long. I like Shanahan vs. Cowher. That's another advantage on top of having home field.

Cant do bootleg all the time. Offensive variance gives defenses headaches. Broncos are breaking tendencies. That way, when defenses least expect it, staple plays gain more effectiveness. Like in the pats game. broncos pound the middle all game, throw from the pocket all game. they run one bootleg and got 20 yards. not bad.

I posted the same thoughts about our running game on another thread on Saturday and someone posted that Shanahan may be holding back a little. I really don't think so cause the playoffs are when you bring the house. But I've been wrong before

Yeah i definitely see us doing thoe plays just to keep that D honest. Force them to think (Porter wont like that Ha!) and that will give us an extra second or 2 so we can hit the big play.
The option would be sweet, maybe even a BVP appearance, ALL the stops will be pulled!

I've been wondering the same thing, then today decided it is because we are not having to play from behind, so we play sorta "vanilla". I think if we were down by more than 7, we'd see some different plays. Old Shanahan is saving those plays for when people least expect it. I think if we get to the SB, he opens up a can of whoop-azz!

I think that our RBs(mainly bell) will have sucess against Pitt. witht their D being so aggresive i think if will leave lanes for our cutback runs
