Based on cowhers track record of making some extememly odd play calls at odd times and no disrespect to cowhers but i think shanny has a large advantage over him in the coaching dept. Cowhers is going to have to come up with a game plan like he has never before to get past this game IMO.

Cowher calls trick plays/mixed personel when the game is still close and one mistake won't kill his team.

He almost NEVER makes those bold moves when the game is on the line or he's more than one TD behind.

Almost all his trickery comes in the 1st half...

I remember a onside kick after the halftime vs cincy that basically stopped any comeback....

All time record has the broncos winning 14 to 8, i will have to look a little deeper to find the cowher/shanny head to head stats.

They have only played 2 times since 1995 when shanny became the head coach and they split.

We are 3-2 all time against them in the payoffs.

We are 9-7-1 all time against the Steelers since 1970.

Shanahan is 2-1 against Cowher. That's right. We've only played them three times since Shanahan was head coach. That's amazing considering how long both have been in the league and considering they are in the AFC.

At home:

Shanahan has played Cowher at home once and won. So we're undefeated. That's not a very good sampling.

All time at home: 5-2-1

So for some reason we never play the Steelers. We did quite a bit in the 70's and early 80's.

One trend to note:

Cowher is 9-9 in the postseason. That's not too bad until you look at home VS. Away.

Home playoff record: 7-4
Away: 2-5

His only two post season wins have been this year with this team, so you could argue if he's going to get the monkey off his back, it's this year.

Shanahan is 3-1 at home in the playoffs. And while I didn't check, I believe we are undefeated at home in AFC Championship games.

One last thing. We are undefeated at home this season. That makes us the toughest team to play at home in the playoffs. :)
