The Patriots slow start was enough to beat the Jagwads but not the stingy Boncos defense which has now only given up less than 11.0 points per game for the past 5 games. Damn, this defense is as good as any we've seen in Tampa Bay or Baltimore, good enough to take us to the Big Bowl?!
I saw the same Patriots team come into mile high performing like missmatched patch-work of a team compared to years previous super bowl teams.
After all the excuses for losing because of turnovers, Brady was as much to blame as any other person on the team; Yet, when he was asked about it in the postgame press conf he blamed it on turnovers, turnovers and not playing their best.
Now, now Tommy Boy, I saw the same team out there on the roaring mile high field on Saturday as I did the week earlier stumbling in Foxboro for three quarters against the Jagwads.
No, no, no Brady - see, you came to the mountains and realized there was a team that could kick your azz time and time again. That's right folks, the Broncos outplayed the Patriots because they ARE the better team. This W wasn't a result of turnovers, it was a result of being a better team from week 1 until tomorrow and the next day and the next. The press dismissed his (the Immaculate One) performance as a 'bad day' or 'off day'. Shiat, I have never stood with my fellow citizens of Bronco Country and yelled 'IN-COM-PLETE' much as I did on Saturday - in fact not only was Brady flustered by the second quarter, he looked as bad and frustrated as McNabb did - LOST IN A SEA OF ORANGE & BLUE.
The Patsies obviously didn't prepare for Bronco Fan - 12th man. All in attendance were well represented with 20-25 yards in penalties caused - FLAT OUT. And then getting to Brady who had 3-4 more passes, not including the penalties, that were thrown away because the WR couldn't hear shiat or an audible. It was MILE HIGH MAGIC and yes, as Lynchie confirmed, there was no whine and cheese involved.
With about four minutes to go in the first half, you felt as if New England was poised for more after Tom Brady hit David Givens for a big gain. But on the very next play, Kevin Faulk fumbled. And on the next play from scrimmage, Jake Plummer dialed long distance to Ashley Lelie for an incompletion.
No 22 had just been rolled up for a 40 yard interference call. The sideline judge did not make a call on the throw, dismissing it as 'uncatchable' but the back judge, looking to the side judge as if he were a blinded idiot, tossed a late pass-interference flag on Asante Samuel.
The press once again dismisses this as 'should've been a non-call. It was horrible. Just awful'. And the wrong official, the back judge, threw the flag in late. If anything, it was offensive interference on Lelie.
If you don't believe Lelie could have caught that ball, well, I'm sorry to say you've spent too much time with your head up the Patsy azz during the season and not enough time watching Lelie's acrobatic grabs over his opposing shoulder. Lelie was not defended, he was bumped time and time again for 15-25 yards after the line of scrimmage and his route was nothing more than what Azzante wanted it to be. Good call ref! And, media, please pull you head out, the Patsies aren't SB bound! You have never been sooo wrong. The Broncos and Steelers proved you wrong again and again, sooo please, shut up until Saturday when you're called upon to give more half azzed 'accurate' analysis. Better yet, just quit with the analysis - you're no good until the game is over and we need stats tallied to once again prove how wrong your analysis is/was.
Denver fan, rest assured, we were outplaying the Patsies in every phase of the game. By the 4th quarter their defense was on it's knees, literally, during a time out. They were sooo gassed, and unprepared for the strength of the Broncos.
One more quick observation, The score is 10-6 Broncos with the Patriots knocking on the door. With a 3rd and 6, the Patriots line up on the Broncos 6 yard line, in slot formation. Champ runs over to DWill befor the snap and warns him of a crossing pattern with a few hand signals. The next thing I knew he had done it again - pick and almost six. Mile High was insane, people were crying, hugging, and believing! The group around me grabbed another and roared with excitement as Champ high wired along the sideline for 100 yards. The City was transformed in the moment, what a special play by our new (unofficial) NFL Defensive MVP.
