She's my cousins daughter and has been in Iraq for a full year!
She's a freakin' Marine! A female Marine...go figure. Anyway she's coming home to a hero's welcome Feb 1. Feel free to move this, but Mock is very, very proud of her. First in is their motto.

Congrats Mock. Nice to have a duckling back in the home pond I'd bet. Here's hoping that more of them coming home to safety isn't too far away.

Congrats... to her - not Mock. Just though I would clairify that
Where is she stationed? Doesent happen to be the base here in JAX, does it? :wiggle:
Just kidding.
Back on subject, they keep pushing my deploy date. The JFK attack group just got back as I was assigned there, so I'll have to wait out a while before I go to Iraq. I get out June of '08, and now they are saying I will leave June of '07.
But seriously, go see the movie 'Jarhead' I think that is actually a pretty accurate account, minus a few fabrications, of Desert Storm.
Politics aside, this war is similar to Desert Strom in many ways.

Dont salute the Navy. We don't do ****. We sit in a boat a hundred miles away from the war and push buttons.
The hours are long and hard, we get bitched at for EVERY minute mistake, and we're away from our families all the time. We aren't, however, getting shot at - and even when we are, its behind six incehs of steel.
That's the first thing I though when I went to A-school. I was thinking about joining the 'tough' Air Crew guys after I failed BUDs, when I realized that the United States Marine Corps, and the Marines that make up this branch are truly the heros of this country.

She's a Marine, so you can pretty much take it to that bank that she isn't a "girly girl." Howeve, I've seen a few cute Marines in my day.
They are cuter than Navy chicks, thats for sure.

I've seen a couple of fine lookin Navy chicks. Some Air Force & Coast Guard females definately not too shabby. But, as a whole, well..

All I'm saying is no matter how cute they are, most Navy/Marine/Army chicks can kick your ass.
(not so much the Air Force, a lot of Air Force chicks I've met ARE girly girls)
Tell Megan Beth thanks for going, and welcome home.

I met some national Guard chics that didn't belong anywhere within 30 miles of a combat zone.

Sound like my Grandpa. He was commisioned for 32 years... made Brigadeer General. Couldn't really invision himself in combat.
