TEXAS TWO-STEP
One team that has no certainty surrounding its next head coach is the Houston Texans. Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak is going to get the job, and he's going to get it shortly after Denver's season ends -- whenever that is.
After many seasons with Denver, Gary Kubiak might return home in a big way.
If the Broncos lose to New England on Jan. 14, Kubiak would become the Texans head coach early next week. If the Broncos advance to the AFC championship game, Kubiak's hiring would have to wait at least another week. And so on and so forth, until Denver loses.
Whenever it is, it is going to be a grand day for Kubiak and the Texans. Kubiak will get to return to the city where he grew up, and the Texans will be getting one of football's top offensive minds.
Once Kubiak goes, don't be surprised if he tries to lure Broncos offensive line coach Rick Dennison with him. Kubiak and Dennison are extremely close, and Kubiak might want Dennison to serve as his offensive coordinator. If the two coaches go to Houston together, Denver's running game could take a major whack next season.
Any thoughts?
