I'm sick of Manning and all that crap he does at the line of scrimmage as well. Hike the G o D d am n football already! It's immature the way he tries to get you penalized during substitutions. This isn't pop warner football it's the NFL. I hope Porter gets a good shot on him Sunday.

Glad a player finally said it, I've been calling that whole snapping the ball during substitutions chicken spit and its just one of the many reasons I hate the Colts.

The sad thing is there is a rule on the books preventing this, but the refs don't call it. It's become so obvious that the Pats are now taking advantage of it, with Brady accelerating the snap when he see's the D is in flux.
The rule is, if the offense subs late, the defense is allowed equal time to sub themselves. The Colts pulled the same trick twice against the Pats this season.

Not to quote a certain disloyal and lying bastidge but:
YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!
If Porter's too damn slow to get off the field when the Colts are ready to play, that's their problem. I suppose poor Joey wants the NFL to outlaw the no-huddle during the final two minutes and ban audibles too? What a schlep. Line up and do your job, Joey. If Big Ben was doing Manning's act, he'd be defending the tactic.

Well, Peyton will have the last laugh when Porter is "thinking" about how great it would be to "line up and play" in the AFC Championship game.

hope the steelers beat the colts
with that being said
Porter, shut up and play, it's part of football, it's what the colts do
Joey Porter is a punk, through and through. Anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt.

I can't imagine a Steeler or one of the Steelers fans whinning... Oh no wait.. I can, because that's all they do.. If there's no crying in baseball, then the same should be true for football.

That's bu l l sh it. Joey played for Colo. St and that's where I went to school. I watched him play for several years. He's a stand up guy. You don't know what the fu q your talking about.

Hilarious!
Only problem i have is the Colts Center. He does a good job of sticking with Manning and changing his line calls, but can a Center move his head and body as much as he does when he gets in the 3-point stance?? Any ither center gets flagged for a false start but the Colts seem to always get away with it.

Porter Quote: They don't want to just call a play, get up there and run a play. They want to make you think. They want it to be a thinking game instead of a football game."
Oh, god forbid they actually make them THINK, that mean old Peyton Manning and his big IQ !! Hilarious, this guy really needs to quit whining.

I beleive that he was before he joined the Steelers.. But there's something about that team that makes them all whinning little babies. Maybe it's that yellow stripe on the helmet dripping down their backs.

My advice to Porter is , hammer Peyton Manning into the "turf" a dozen times or so, and , he'll either stop or be on the bench with birds flying around his head. They do use this tactic quite a bit, I personally find it annoying as hell, however, the rules are the rules. The best way for the defense to stop this sort of shenanigans is to knock the abuser into next week with punishing and bone crushing hits, he'll eventually stop short of you bending the SOB in half and stuffing him into a large jug of gatorade......dman

Sounds like some of that shrapnel from that bullet went to his brain in addition to his arse.
First off he is calling plays at the line unlike most all the other QB's cause they aren't smart enough to handle it....and the fact he doesn't pause and ask the defense if they would like a breather and give them extra time to run out different packages is a big factor as to why he beats their arse up and down the field.
"Mommy, mommy.....make him stop doing that...he keeps beating us up..."

I think it tarnishes the Colts to a degree. Would you want to think back & be remembered for winning games via tricks or out right pummling people a la the 1998 Denver Broncos?

I believe it's the Steelers who commonly use actual trick plays, not the Colts. The Colts are pretty standard play action and audibles every week...don't see too many reverses, flea-fickers, onsides kicks and such from them. Pitt on the other hand...

It tarnishes them if you don't like them and are reaching as hard as possible to find a pathetic excuse....Becareful not to throw your back out reaching for that one however.
Bills ran a no huddle hurry up to 4 straight Super Bowls....only tarnish on them is Norwood kept them from winning at least one.
The Broncos back to back Super Bowl wins are tarnished cause they ran the ball too well and that wasn't fair to the all the other teams.

What Porter said was "bush league"....
How are you going to publicly criticize them for not playing "Steeler" football...
They aren't the Steelers...they are the Colts....oh BTW...what they do WORKS...
It esp. worked against the Steelers this season on Monday Night Football...
And he really looks dumb for saying the Colts use trickery to score...the Steelers use more trick plays than anyone...like that hokey poke play against Cincy for a TD....but it worked so how can one criticize?
He needs to stop wishing it was easier and just get better....i lost respect for him....
The colts are going to really stomp those guys now....and it won't be by trickery...it'll be by E.J. trucking right through him....hey porter is that "steeler" enough for you?

Well you have to hand it to him...if the fans weren't going to be off the charts loud before this cry baby comments it certainly will now....and then Big Baby Ben can cry afterwords about the noise being artificial.

trickery?
Like a pitch RB pass to the endzone, or a screen pass flea flicker for a TD?
The Steelers would never do anything like that, right?

This is one of those things that you may think - but you keep your mouth shut, so as to avoid looking like a dumbass. The first thing I thought when I read the article about Porter this morning was, "What a whiner!" And, for perspective, I agree with what he said!
Peyton Manning is the kind of guy that you always wanted to pound in high school - the guy who always had a weasly comment about everything. That being said, he is also considered to be one of the two best QBs in the game right now. It's best just to take out your frustrations on the field.

I see that people in this thread have said that the substitution thing that the Colts do to opposing defenses is in fact illegal.
If it is illegal, maybe Joey Porter is coming out in public about this because it will get the attention and he is hoping that the refs and league take note of it incase Manning and the colts decide to pull this stunt.

If what the colts are doing is illegal then every coach that played them would of been screaming and yelling foul at the competition committee. Something tells me there is nothing illegal about this, but feel free to create more excuses for why they win...

If it's illegal, then the two minute offense is illegal. All he's doing is calling the play at the line, and making the adjustments. If anything you have to give credit to the O-line for not having more false starts.

I dont think it's illegal for one moment. Manning is just too bloody good and he utilises every single thing that can turn a game in his favour. if he was our QB we'd be saying f@cking GREAT play Peyton.

It is not illegal. When they are in their no huddle offense sometimes the opposing D's will try to get a substitution in and Manning will just hurry up and snap it if the opposing D has too many people on the field.
Nothing illegal. One of the main purposes of the no-huddle is that it doesn't allow defensive substitutions...if teams try to substitute and Manning catches them, it's their own fault.

What a stupid comment by Joey Porter.
Football is unique because it is one of the most demanding sports both physically and mentally.
It is no coincidence the Patriots happen to have one of the smartest teams in football and that in during the 2003 superbowl, the two participants in it (the Pantherns and the Patriots) were numbers one and two in collective college GPAs and IQ.
Idiots like this guy put a negetive reflection on football as a sport.
