Interesting numbers from Mike Reiss' blog in the Boston Herald:

"When Bill Belichick addressed the Patriots at their team meeting Tuesday, he had game film all cued up. On the screen was an Oct. 30 game between the Broncos and Eagles.
“Coach showed it to us because [the Broncos] went up 21-0 before you even knew it,” explained linebacker Monty Beisel. “They definitely get a jump-start.”
In that game, Denver opened with a 10-play, 74-yard scoring march that lasted 4:43, to go ahead 7-0. After forcing the Eagles on consecutive three-and-out possessions, the Broncos went up 14-0 on a six-play, 50-yard scoring drive that lasted 3:24.
By the end of the first quarter, the Broncos had controlled the ball 12:22 to the Eagles’ 2:38. Five plays into the second quarter, Denver held a 21-0 lead.
Beisel said the message was clear: “We have to start quick and put some points on the board early.”
Denver has outscored opponents 81-44 in the first quarter and 143-61 in the second.
The Patriots are also tough in the first quarter, outscoring foes 90-55."
If either team goes up 2 scores in the 1st qtr, it'll be real tough for the other team to recover.
