ok there is something very wrong there. says we have only 16 takeaways, 32nd in the NFL. i was under the impression that we had like 34 takeaways, 2nd in the NFL...but obviously the nfl was corrected by brady and bruschi and that's fixed now.

Hmmm..... yeah. That's weird. But keep in mind the Patriots didn't hit their stride until late in the season. Is that all season stats??
And why is the lower side getting the check marks?

Our pass-defense stats are way out of wack because we have been playing with leads of size for much of the season.
Teams are behind, they start passing all the time, they start taking risks, they start making more yards, they start throwing picks, we win the game.

Lower number is the rank. So we're like 6th on O, and they're 9th. It averages the ranks of each offensive category. So we average 6th on all categories, they average 9th.

I generally don't pay attention to the yards, but some stats do have significance:
NE DEN
Opp. Points/Game 21.1 17 16.1 3
3rd Down Efficiency 93 5 76 21
Opp. 3rd Down Effcy 92 26 76 10
Do anyone have information on off/def RZ efficiency? I'd be interested to find out.

Keep everything else the same, but balance out (even just half way) the stats on our passing defense versus their passing offense and we win the game!

That's weird...we both have about the same 3rd down % for us as we do for our opponents. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, but we'll see.

You win a cookie! !Booya!
You hit your stride (7-2) mostly at home (5-4) against a really weak schedule.
The Broncs limped in (8-1) mostly on the road (4-5) against a schedule with more tough teams.
It sucks a bunch that the Pats are in stride and the Broncs squeaked in. We have no chance.

Just a thought...I remember checking the stats on the Broncos Vs. Packers in SB 32...the Broncos had them beat in almost every category!

Don't you guys think that we should just go out line up nose to nose and kick some azz? Brady will lose composure for 3 quarters and then try to make a valiant effort in making a come back that saves his azz for the media sake. It's part of the script.
Steelers fans and Broncos fans know that the media would like nothing more than another Colts and Patsy AFC game, SORRY, this just hasn't been the media's year in sports (see- Chicago White Sox, Texas Longhorns, No NHL, North Carolina wins F4 and Denver hands Brady his first playoff loss).

I posted this in another thread but there are some things to consider. First is that you need to consider they are healthier. That said their run defense is still suspect. In three of the last games they gave up 40 or more yards on only eight carries. They didn't stop the run, their opponents abandoned it. That said, they still made opponents abandon the run.

Stats can lead to miss leading conclusions like last year when we were rated high in Defense but the pass defense was highly suspect.
Since the year long stats were not accumulated against all playoff teams, I would not base a decision completely on the stats.
It should be a good game, however, we (DENVER) have an advantage because we are at home and have played a tougher schedule.
NE is scary because they
1. are playing their best ball of the year
2. have winning Playoff experience both on the road and at home
3. have an accurate passer and our pass Defense is still our biggest weakness; although it is much improved from last year.
The following is not rocket science material.
If the TO battle is tied or won by Denver
AND
Denver's DLine puts lots of pressure on BRady, we win easy 31 -17. If not, Denver wins 24 - 20 in a nail biter.

I don't know how long its been since the Pats have seen a real NFL team. A real well balanced one...
Its going to be Denver vs. Pitsburgh in the Finals, folks. They are the only two complete, balanced and hard-nosed teams left.
Either Pitsburgh or Denver Will be Superbowl Champs. Every other team has weaknesses that can be exposed...
Carolina, Maybe...
But I don't see the offensive firepower. Plus, I think their running game would disapear against a real rushing defense. So, there you go, thats THEIR weakness...

I think we had something like 36 takeaways, and 16 GIVEAWAYS......for a turnover margin of +20.

Numbers seduce. Stop reading that crap. All the numbers are reset to zero as of yesterday. Check back for the scoreboard late Sat for the new numbers.

I don't hold much value in stats come playoff time but using FOX Sports as a source is a problem. We had 36 take-aways not 16 that they show. I don't know how many other stats are wrong cause I'm not going through them. Use the official NFL site for stats.

It's going to be a great game.
Speaking on turnovers Tom Brady has 12 TDs and 12 Ints in his away games this season. Whereas Plummer has thrown 9 TDs and only 2ints at home.
I keep saying that we don't have to do anything different than what we have been doing all season long against good teams that we've beaten. As long as the team stays focused then we'll run the ball well and defend the run well. That's all I ask.
However, the Pats know that they have to do something that they haven't done that well this season. Go on the road and beat a playoff caliber team. The pressure is on them.

You're crazy. How can you write of the colts? I may hate the colts but they are the one awesome team and should kick the snot out of pittsburgh.
