And that is why we will win Sunday. Billicek is a great coach, one of the best of all time. So is Mike Shannahan, but noone with any knowledge of gameplans, playcalling, and preparation is saying it. I am.
Shannahan is a better coach than Billicek. It's an opinion, but I think I can back it up. You look at the Pats run with Brady, similar to the greatest 3 year run in the history of the NFL in terms of wins that Shanny strung together, with his HOF Qb. Ok, he won 3 titles in 4 years, we won 2 in 3 and our QB had to retire, halting our run.
Shanny took the Broncos to the playoffs despite the loss of one of the top 5 greatest football players...ever. And has rebuilt the team that will crush the Patriots by running the ball right through them, and using play action passes to torch them in the air. It's the same formula as with Elway, only this time Jake pulls the trigger.
Another thing that is underrated is our defense. This defense is without a doubt better than either of those defenses that won Super Bowls. Darrent will be back, along with Al Wilsonto to lead the best LBs in the league.
Hey great, Bruschi is a hero and all that, and their LBs score touchdowns, and on and on, but we have the better offense, defense, and special teams.
Oh yeah, and were at home. With 2 weeks of rest.
Billy Billicek may have gotten over on the Monday Night Deltha fiasco, but times have changed, and we own the Patriots now. Put a fork in them.

Bilichik is better than shanahn.
Vinateri is better than elam.
Brady is better than Plummer.
But we have Rod smith, KJ, MA, TB and PUTZ.
if we use them, we can win!

you know Bill Walsh could be sitting in his living room close his eyes and picture every player will be on the field on any given play ....... question is does Shanny have the same gift ? I think he does

Without a doubt he does. The Patriots are not as good as thier record. Everyone who is doubting our Broncos and scared of the Patriots needs to check themselves, and the Patriots. They are not that good. I think that swagger and confidence they have from winning 3 Bowls outta 4 is working on everyone's minds to much.
It won't be as close this time.

When the Patriots play the Broncos, Denver usually gets the better of the matchup, having won three of the past four meetings, losing only a thriller with Danny Kanell at quarterback.

You have your opinion, I have mine. Belichick has two defensive gameplans in the Hall of Fame. How many does Shanny have?
Even with Elway, Shanny couldn't win the big game. He had to have one of the best RB's in history to go along with the HOF QB to do it. Not so with BB. They won 2 SB's with Antowaine freakin Smith at RB!
Now? The Broncos finally get to the 2nd round of the playoffs, after 5 yrs. Can they beat the Pats? For sure! Will they? Nope. Pats will shut down the running game and force Jake to be the snake we know he is.

We were 13-3 and clearly the best offense in football when we lost at home to the jagwads, thanks to a bs call vs Tory James, back in 96. Best 3 year run in terms of wins, ever.

2 Super Bowl Rings?!!? Be happy you play in the AFC lEast. Billy Billcek has been feasting on the hapless jets, bills, and fins for 4 years.
As far as your comment about Terrell Davis, granted TD was a great back, but our running game has been the best in the NFL over the last 8 years for another reason, and that's Mike Shannahan fool.

TD was a great back in a great system. Shanahan is the best game day x-o coach in the NFL. He doesnt wait till halftime to make adjustments. You load up on the run, he will throw. You lay back, expect counters and pitches and stretch plays. Can New England win saturday? sure. Will they? No.

That's saying a lot coming from someone playing SD and Oakland every year. KC hasn't been much of the full package either. Also on the Patriots run, they have eating Indy for dinner year after year. More than I can say for the Broncos.

First of all, the AFC East over the past 5 years have all had top 10 defenses, unlike the hapless west, with only SD getting decent recently. Which division put more teams in the playoffs the last few years? Thought so.
I think the old OL coach (now with Atlanta) had a hell of a lot more to do with the success of the broncos running game than Shanny ever did.

shanahan is just the HC, so all the credit is thrown at him.

Shannahan is a better X's and O's coach. No question.
As for the rest..The only time Vinetari/Elam and Brady/Plummer ever step onto the field at the same time is warmups, halftime, and the final handshake.
The question is: Can the patriots move the ball on the Broncos D? Can the Broncos D force turnovers? Can the Broncos move the ball on the Patriots?
I like the Broncos chances.. a LOT.

Yet Gibbs predates Shannahan and Turner was hired with Shannahan... but Shannahan had nothing to do with it?
I assume that you sat in on those meetings in '95 where the blocking/running scheme became part of the Broncos offense? Or..did you just pull that straight out of your ass?

AFCE is a good division. Always competitive. Guess you could say the same about the AFCW too. At least looking at it this year.
Since 2002 (When the divisions split to 4 teams) the East has had 138 wins, the west 137.
This year the west won 36 games, the east only won 28. So the west was a full 8 games better than the east in 2005. (The east had a similiar year in '03 when they where 7 games better).
Breakdown:
(2005) East: 28 West: 36
(2004) East: 37 West: 34
(2003) East: 38 West: 31
(2003) East: 35 West: 36
(total) East: 138 West: 137
So both divisions have been quite comparable for the last 4 seasons, except in 2003 and 2005 (you know.. THIS season) in which the west was a clearly superior division. Made all the more telling by the fact that the West not only had to play itself, but also the strongest division in the NFC (the NFC east).

I think your theory is far more plausable, shanahn, a guy who was at the forefront of the run and shoot, which puts the QB in the shotgun and has him throwing 75% of the time, shanny who called a college game at N. AZ without one single running play, MS, who was fired by the raiders and told by art shell in his exit interview, 'find someonr that can coach your offensive line"
"find someone who can teach your backs to run the ball"
i think it is far more like ly that after shanahan hired GIBBS less than an hour after he was announced as the new HC, and shanahn who hired Bobby turner just days later...
yes it must have been shanahan who suddenly pulled a running game outmof his ass!
Shanahan drafted TD as a blocking back, and almost cut him after the last pre-season game of his rookie season.
shanahan the run guru neede TD to make a monster play on special teams to be convinced that the guy belonged on the team.
You can ignore me if you chose, but you cant ignore reality!
GIBBS and TURNER are the architects of the broncos run game,
shanahan just takes all the credit.

we dont want to be like the steelers, dolphins, browns, and cowboys, suffering ten-15 years of mediocrity just because we have a trophy or two to polish at the end of every medicre season.
Some of us realize that we must keep our expectatioons high if we hope to keep our HC motivated.
