We'll figure it out. Looks like we'll probably be flying in on Friday morning or late Thursday night and stay until Monday! I have to make a trip down to Tucson on Friday but will be back Sat. morning. Not quite sure what the plans are for sure yet in place to stay for us...I think BMF has family there we will stay with. Everyone I know lives in Tucson or Safford.

Ogi,
We're staying at The Buttes for $108/night. Any insight on this place? I know it got some bad press when it was with Hilton, but Marriott bought it this spring and I have't had any probs with Marriott? Thanks.

I found a person selling RV spaces in the Arizona Republic classifieds. Giving her a call tomorrow. Are we still looking for RV space since we have to go to the Great Lawn?

Yes, looks like we still need an RV spot. Let me know what you find out.
It doesn't look like I've got enough people that need hotel rooms to get a group rate. But, here's a list of hotels that I've found:
Ramada in Peoria (3.7 miles away) $120/night
Glendale Inn (4 miles) $79/night
Econolodge/Tolleson (5 miles) $44/night
Wigwam Golf resort and spa (for the luxurious folks) (6 miles) $189/night
Budget Inn (6.2 miles) $53/night
There's a bunch of other hotels too. When searching for hotels on the random sites, they don't have Cardinals stadium listed yet. So, you can search closest to Glendale Arena and it'll give you a list that are near there.
As far as what to bring, I'll begin getting this together in about a week or two. I've got a rough list together of those attending this one..but, if you haven't already checked in...anytime now would be great. We are just SEVEN weeks away from this one!!

I bought 2 RV spaces next to each other for :OF1:. Just playing it safe as we didn't think the bus would fit in one space.
The lady stated that her friend (Broncos fan!) is in the RV lot every week and that tailgating is allowed in the RV lot. Someone may want to verify this, but she was certain.
She still has a couple more RV spots available, if needed. Her name is Debbie, (623) 551-5286.

I just spoke to Meck. In the event that OF1 can't make it, I'll have two RV passes that won't be used. They were $40 each. My wife and I are flying in, so I was hoping to consider this as my tailgating contribution. Let me know if anyone else would need them to park their RV.
Edit: Bottom line, no matter what vehicle is in these spots, hopefully we won't have to drag everything to the Great Lawn. The woman said the tickets are for reserved spots next to each other, but it's pretty much first come, first serve when you get there.

I called Debbie back. She verified that the parking passes are for Lot F - Oversized. I picked up one more in case anyone needs it and couldn't wait to see if OF1 was going. Just let me know. Otherwise, I'll use it for my rental car. So I have a total of 3 now. I guess you can park your car there also. She recommends getting there about 5 hours before kickoff to get a good spot.
FYI... she said that you need to purchase a seperate ticket for anyone who wants to tailgate at the Great Lawn, but that shouldn't be a problem as the F-oversized does allow tailgating.

Nice work Billy...Like you say regardless of what "vehicle" is in lot F oversized a couple cardinal fans just sold the heart and soul of their tailgating lot to Broncos fans!
Those are pretty limited passes....Good job! When I spoke to the Cards admin they told me there are only 40 RV spots available. The Card fans are going to be suprised to see Broncos flags flying in that lot as those passes are only sold to Cardinal Season tix holders.....

5 hours? She doesnt know us very well. That is minimum. Actually 4 is perfect for me but when you are dealing with first come, first serve, it is better to camp out with the RV. You can always sleep in there anyways. Seems we are set. Do we actually need a RV to park there or are cars good enough?

Ok..... I just confirmed that we'll need two RV passes. So let me know asap (feel free to PM me) if i should call Debbie and get two more or if I should buy these from you?
Meck - the bus making a double (San Diego and then AZ trip :) That would be sweet. I'll be flying into San Diego either Saturday or Sunday AM and then on to Seattle for work on Sunday night.
We'll be driving the RV down on Thursday/Friday before the AZ game and my in-laws who are also bringing their RV to the game will be down there already for a class he's teaching.

Massive Rvs and broncos fans. If this is the same lot that has 40 spots only and 1/8 will be Broncos' fans, how pissed are those Cardinals fans going to be? My answer is who cares?

10-28-2006, 12:11 PM
Archie,
I just PMed you. You can have my 1 and I'll get you one more right now. It'll be cheaper this way, as I'm already paying S+H for the other passes. This way, we'll still have two available for OF1, if needed.
Bronco Billy
10-28-2006, 12:41 PM
I now have four parking passes for F-Oversized: two for Archie and two if OF1 makes the trip. I'll have one or two available if OF1 doesn't make it.
If there are only 40 RV spots for F-Oversized, this means we now own 10% of the parking lot! :militia: :charge:

I don't understand these losing teams? Someone help me, please.
Arizona: Unless you're in the RV lot, you have to tailgate in the Great Lawn, which requires a seperate ticket. They only make 40 RV spots available for 60,000 - 70,000 people.
Cleveland: You can't drink beer at the tailgates. Though, we did! And the Browns have a rule against "excessive standing" during the games! :kiddingme Don't they want their fans to cheer and be loud. (And not leave during the second half?)
Just venting a little, sorry.

Yeah - I could not believe that story about Cleveland. And I really really don't get the stupid "great lawn" thing at AZ. I'm sure some people like it but the idea of having to park and then haul your party several hundred feet or more over to a 10x10 patch of grass and then haul it back is just crazy... But what ever toots their horns I guess!

Sassy, you comin' to AZ!?
No...We did consider it though....:(
Denver, Cleveland and Diego were the trips for the year...unless one of us wins the lottery between now and then
With our 6-0 UNDEFEATED record when attending...I think we'd rather hit the Diego game ;D We're looking forward to finally meeting you Archie! (Sorry, we missed you in Denver this year.)
KC @ Denver will usually be the home game along with whatever away game or games we can manage...probably only one...(and usually the "warmer" games...Hey, I'm all for being a diehard...but not when I'm freezing my butt off!)
Not too shabby...check it out:
Broncos 6-0 when Hogan and Sassy attend:
2004- Diego @ Denver, Denver @ New Orleans
2005- KC @ Denver, Denver @ Chargers
2006- KC @ Denver, Denver @ Cleveland, Denver @ Diego ?

I haven't heard anything. I'll have to find out from Archie if he's found anything out yet. We'll have to get a move on this since it's just 5 weeks away from this weekend, now. I'm really not sure what kind of a head count we've got coming to this game. I know we've had a few back out. It still seems as though we've got quite a few still coming to this one.

Well.... mixed reviews. Bronco Billy has secured four Lot F passes (of which he has sold two to me and he was going to hold the other two for awhile in case he needs one and possibly some other needs arise). These were supposed to be "Oversized" passes but they are not. (I ran into the exact same issue during pre-season). According to someone Bronco Billy has spoken with who is a season ticket holder and is familiar with the issue, the Cardinals are allowing RV's into the lot using regular passes. They apparently recognized that they messed up big time on the number of RV passes that would be needed.
However, if we stick with Lot F and "hope" that they allow our RV's in, it puts us in a challening position if they don't as we'll have to move the tailgate at the last minute to Lot H. Bronco Billy or I will be touching base with the Cardinals to see if we can get greater clarification.
As far as numbers go.. We have about 13 to 15 people who are planning to attend in "our group". I have not seen a consolidated count of everyone from the mane who is planning to attend.

Archie here is the few that posted where they are sitting. We need to find out about lot H because some here like ludo bought lot f and i am sure they would want to sell their pass if they want to come to lot H. I am not even sure if i am driving out or flying since my son's bday is that weekend. Maybe bday until2 pm and get a flight at 5:30 or something. Anyways, this one is creeping up and we are still confused about the cardinals front office on this parking situation. We need an OGI update.

Well - definitely the ideal is to be in Lot F. We already have passes there and they allow RV's and tailgating. So - we want that to work. I'll be calling the Cardinals later today and see if I can get some level of clarification.

Ok - I just spoke to the Cardinals.... they said that "absolutely" the only way to bring an oversized vehicle into Lot F is to have an "Lot F Oversized" pass. So... I'm not very optimistic that we'll be able to pull this off. I also asked if I had two regular passes could I use that for an RV and she said no.
Lot H is a mile away. They have shuttles running back and forth and the lot is free and first come first serve. But.... you won't likely be walking back and forth or sitting at the RV and listening to the crowd roar, etc... The AZ Cardinal person could not tell me how the "quality" of the tailgating was in that lot either.
I've come to the firm conclusion that this stadium sucks (at least for tailgating). I'd really like to get some quality alternatives.

Archie beat me to it. As you have already heard, the 4 parking passes I received are for 'F' lot and are not "F - Oversized." Just figured you'd want to hear it from the horse's ass! I confirmed with the woman 8 times that they were the oversized passes, but I guess she's human too. (Just need to vent.) I'm thinking about calling to get my $$$ back, but a season-ticket holder I spoke with did say that the parking attendants have been letting RVs in with regular 'F' lot passes to park in the grass area. Although, the Cardinals front office states that you must have a "F Oversized" pass to get into the lot. Either way, 'F' lot is the only lot near the stadium that allows tailgating "behind your vehicles" without going to the Great Lawn. Smalltowngrll suggested checking other fan sites for teams that have played there to see what they've said. I'll be going behind enemy lines in a little bit to see what they say. Sorry for the bad news. :hitself:

Well, I checked the fan forums for the four teams that have played in AZ this season and found nothing on parking in AZ. I must say, going on the other forums make me appreciate this one so much more. We're the only one with a Tailgating forum and this forum is a lot more organized. I posted a question about the parking on clanram, since I have a user name there (from the first week of this season). I noticed a few fans went to the game in AZ.

What time will the game end...about 5:30 right? Then get out of the stadium with the masses of people and all the way to your car. I assume you'll be parked in the free Lot H, which means waiting in line for a shuttle to the lot. Then waiting in line to get out of the lot. Then waiting in line on the actual road to get onto the freeway. Drive from the NW side of town all the way to the airport...I'd say you're cutting it very close. Any chance you can get at least 9:00 PM?

in 2001, I missed my flight so i had to sleep at the airport until the 5 30 AM stand by call. Tough to make it. Remember, hour difference compared to Pacific Coast Time. I believe they have the same time as Colorado for the next 6 months. If Cards have a home game in the next few weeks, why doesnt a local go by the lot F and see what is going on there. Also, talk to some of the attendance what we have planned. Greasing a palm might be the answer to our problem!

What are the chances this game gets moved to the night game??
Slim if AZ keeps stinkin it up.
Look at the other options. This may be the one that they flaged at the begining of the season.
I'd bet KC vs SD is a 'protected' game that cannot be moved.
Phil - NYG ?
Tampa - Chicago ?

I was thinking of that. It would be nice to have a more concrete plan, though. Hopefully, something good will come of this mess. For now, I'm working on returning the parking passes. I can always get other 'F' lot passes later, if necessary. Where the hell is Ogi?!

I agree w/ Bronco Billy on this one. If it were just one RV and a small group that could be 100% flexible if things didn't go their way then no worries. But we'll have a good group of people and I think we need to have a plan that will be pretty well defined and communicated. I can't believe these people down there are having in identifying what is an "oversized pass".

Certainly not if you have a rental car you need to return. It takes at least 30 minutes to return the rental and take the bus from the rental car return place to the terminal. Then, security can be a little crazy to get through also.

My bad all I have found nothing new. I do know that people tailgate in every parking lot, but you don't have a whole heck of a lot of space to spread out. You pretty much have to stay up next to your vehicles. I have not been over in the RV lot so I will do my best to get in there. I do not work this Sunday's game, so I will drive over and talk to parking attendants to get a feel.
I didn't know there were two Lot F's. the map shows only one, so I need to check that out also.
Also me and my wife will be there so thats Ogi +1.
As far as Hotels here are my picks, based on location and restaurants/attractions. I also based this on where I'd stay if I came to town. There are closer hotels, but the area I'm not real sure about (safety concerns). There are fancier if you want to stay in resorts.
I'll let you all choose these are all within approx. 1/2 mile or less of each other. All are about 9.4 miles or 10 minute drive to the stadium.

I don't think he is going to make it to Sky Harbor in 30 minutes after the game it took me almost 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot. I live North of the stadium a 10 minute drive. By the time I got out of the game, and home almost an hour. Now this will be a Sunday and will East Bound I-10 be closed or partial on a Sunday? All things to consider. Alos like others tstade if you have a rental to return and security...
If all goes well you could easily make it for an 8pm flight, but I'd give myself some time.

so does anyone maybe have one extra ticket or is it easy to get one on gameday?

I'd take a look on Ebay or Stubhub.com or ticketliquidator.com There will be scalpers I am sure, but no guarantee that you'll get it cheap.
Has anyone else noticed that Bronco home game tickets are alot less than Arizona or San Diego's.... Amazing. These people are out of their minds.

yeah I saw 2 upper level seats starting at 249 bucks, the reason? Its the "Inaugral season in the new digs", what a crock. I watched that thing and it was open for bidding for 2 weeks and nobody bidded on it for a week and half and the guy took it down.
As for me personally, the plans of attending this game took a hit, I should know for sure if Im going in a week. We will see.

So, at this moment...we have 46.... We have to nail down a location soon. Dang Cards stadium. Making things difficult on us!
I'll have a vehicle as well if needed. Otherwise, I'll figure out a ride to the stadium if needed. I might just pick up a parking pass on ebay or something.
Anyway, start thinking about what we will need and I'll post a list this weekend. If anything, we'll get the needs nailed down and pinpoint the location later.

Well... Lot F still seems the best but, dang it, we can't seem to get an oversized pass for that lot. I've got a "wanted" message on craigs list and have been watching ebay pretty closely. (Problem is likelihood for the same thing that has already happened to me and Bronco Billy to happen again - where someone sells us an "oversized" pass but it's not). BB - did you get your money back?

Ok...shot in the dark...but this is what we do for the college tailgates. We could get a group of us together that will have vehicles and see if we can arrange to park all together? We'd have to tailgate behind our vehicles...but, it could be our last resort type of thing.

Archie,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Had a death in the family and work's been hell - worst week of my life. Anyway, here's a pic of a regular F lot pass. According to the Cardinals, an "Oversized" pass will say "Oversized" in the black bar between the 'F' and "Game 10". Good luck. I haven't had time to call the woman yet. ~Table (fold up)

~Potato salad/other salads
Any specialty items would always be welcomed. Please remember that beer and other alcoholic drinks are bring your own. You can always bring some to share.
Keep in mind that it looks like we'll have 50+ people at this one. It's going to be a riot...and I just know we'll find a place to tailgate before the game! If you aren't on the list that is coming, but you are planning on coming, let me know..either here or shoot me a pm.
And, most importantly, bring your broncos gear!! GO BRONCOS!!!
I will be driving out from the Palm Springs area on Saturday morning. Shoot me an email of what you need, but I am thinking a couple tri tips with my dry rub should work well. Beer, cigars and orange and blue beads will also be driving out with me.

Me and the wife can take care of the shopping. As long as you all don't mind. I know no one really knows us. We met Archie and the and at the Broncos Raiders game X-mas Eve Dec 05. One of the guys you all tailgate with Jimmy D. knows us. Anyway, we'll pitch in some cash for what is needed. Not sure if there's going to be enough room for the tent.
The Cards play Detroit at 2 today. I'll be heading over that way in a couple hours.
Agenda:
Figure out parking pass, take pictures of RV lots.

Alright on parking pass you are correct it does say oversized, but. I went down to the stadium and the guys at the gate basically had no clue. They didn't care as long as it said Lot F. I tell you what if you got white rub on letters in all caps and put it there no one would be able to tell. I looked at a number of RVs in the lot and about half had no pass in their window, and there were a number of cars parked in there also. . I even saw a couple that did not say OVERSIZED. I tell you try it and worst case we party in Lot H. They have plenty of shuttle buses we could manage.
Also, tailgating is no problem. People were all over the place. Tents, gas grills, satellite TV. I took some pictures, but need to make them smaller to post.
As far as tickets. I spoke with a couple guys selling (scalping) and they were trying to almost give away todays game against Detroit. It all depends on the game. I make no guarantee as far as price or reputation. Plenty of scalpers were out this guy looked the most legit. Anyway heres the guys info off his business card. Ogi,
THanks for the info. I stil have the 4 'F' lot passes. The lady hasn't called me back and I can't get in touch with her now. I recommend everyone stay away from Cactustickets.com. There ticket prices are also about $40 - 70 higher than ticketliquidator.com. Is everyone willing to give 'F' lot a try? Hopefully, we'll be able to get in. Ogi, did you notice how strictly they enforced the rule about only being able to "Tailgate behind your vehicle?"

Billy, I'd say lets go for the Lot F. I'll have a rental car, so maybe I'll just see if I can't pick up a lot F ticket, too. Or, if you have an extra, I'd buy one off of you. Anyway, logistics in this area is not my forte.

Ok - my father-in-law and I agreed that we'd play the "roll the dice game" and see if we can get our respective RV's (mine is 31 feet and his is 27 feet) in using the passes we have (from Bronco Billy). It sounds "very plausible" that we'll be able to pull this off. It will just suck if somehow they make the Denver game the one that they get really technical on.
So.... I'm in for Lot F with everyone else. BB - we'll need to figure out hooking up for the passes or you can mail them to me.

That's my RV behind you in this picture. That was on the MVT pad last year - great party. Jimmy is joining us down there (I guess you already know that). Thanks for your help on this.
So - to ask some clarifying questions
1) did you see RV's in the oversized lot that did NOT have oversized passes?
2) Can we park, if we are early enough, in the Oversized lot (using regular F passes) and park close to the car part of Lot F so that we can "cluster" everyone fairly close together?
Also... on tickets. We've been throwing around a bunch of different ideas on tickets. Seems like buying a bunch for our group is stupidly priced but that buying lots of 2 and 4 is very easy on eBay and what I hear is that buying tickets (if you are willing to roll the dice) at the game is also very very easy. I guess the only concern I have there is that the Denver game is probably the most popular game of the season there due to all the old Denver fans in the area.

I'll have my laptop while I'm down there...and I'm thinking that as it gets closer, we can at least communicate as much info as possible. If we know we will be in lot F, if one of you guys has a Bronco flag (or lots of them) we can put that up and it shouldn't be too difficult for people to find us. We can exchange phone numbers as it gets closer to assure we all meet up in the right location in case there are any last minute changes, as well.
I got my tickets on ebay, they had 6 together selling them in pairs, so I picked up four. I haven't looked to see what prices are for this game, but there were some really good seats up for sale several months ago.

Yeah I figured if I posted that picture you might recognize it. Me and Kim were in town and went to that game. Saw Meck and Crew win MVT of the Year; that hot tub was wild. Not sure if you could pull it off here, but they seem to have let up a bit. I did not know Jimmy was coming down.
Anyway:
1) Yes and some that had no passes at all in the windows. I know this may sound deceiving, but get some white rub on lettters, all caps and put it on the pass. You have to enter off 91st. When do you all get into town? If before Sunday we can all do a drive by. I'll PM you and whoever else needs info my number if you want?
2) Lot opens at 10am (4 hours prior to game). Lot F and Lot F oversized are right next to each other and no gate separates them. If everyone got F's its feasible we could group them up next to the RVs.
3) As far as tickets your right the Denver game is very popular. A friend told me people had signs up at the Cards vs. Detroit game asking for Broncos tix. Prices are not cheap. I got mine from a friend at work for face value +$20 he could have sold for $$$$. I have feelers out, but have no firm leads. I promise if I do I will post. Ebay/stubhub/ticketliquidator are your best bets. I posted the info above about Benson's tickets. Those that are in need should call and see prices. I would probably not send any money to this guy, but see what he has to offer. There are a bunch of ticket scalpers just depends on what you want to spend.
FYI.
You cannot purchase beer or booze before 10am. Also we don't have liqour stores on every corner. All the grocery stores sell it here.

I believe the plan is to try for Lot F "oversized" with the RVS and have all the other vehciles in Lot F. They are right next to each other and we could feasibly park all vehicles next to each other. Need to be there when the gates open though. If your not in F the Tailgate will be in F oversized if all goes right.

You haven't missed any details yet, BB. Keep an eye out here for the details. We'll probably have those all nailed down the week of the game. I'll shoot you a message or email when we have more details. You have my number still? If you leave prior, then call me and I'll fill you in.
Most everything else going on before and after the game is pretty much in the air. If someone wants to arrange a get together on Friday or Saturday night...have at it!!

If you'd rather donate to purchasing food rather than bring something, the suggested donation would be $5 per person. It worked great at the KC tailgate. If you are interested in that, let me know via pm and I'll get you the paypal info.
Also, with so many coming to this tailgate, I'd like to remind those of us coming that are out of towners and not bringing our RV's and such to remember to help clean-up prior to gametime. It's always a huge help and doesn't take long if everyone pitches in.
Ok, updated list. I'm assuming that most will want to donate for the cause and Ogi will shop. Things we can't purchase but need are listed below....
Coolers
Grill (one or two more should be enough)
Tables (one or two more should be good)
If you are on the above list, I'll shoot you a PM with paypal donation info. Again, if you would rather just donate, $5 per person is a reasonable donation. It worked out well for the KC tailgate.

Since all donation will go to Smalltowngirl we could go shopping on Saturday Dec 16th. Will you be in town? This shouldn't take to long we can hit up Costco.
Biggest problem I will have is no parking pass for Lot F, so if possible after shopping Archie and I could hook up and load up his RV?
I have an extra fold up table we can use.
Is anyone staying at any of the hotels I listed?
Also now I need to up my count as Ogi +3, could go up.
Is $5 per person generally enough?

Ogi, I'll have a rental car and I'll be glad to meet up with you prior to game day and pick up/exchange with you. I'll give you a call and we can set things up. We arrive on Friday afternoon, but will most likely spend the evening in Tucson then back up to Phoenix on Saturday. Yes, we'll probably be staying at a hotel near the stadium...but, as of yet, I'm not sure where.
We did $5 per person for the KC tailgate and it worked out perfectly! Teddman did the food run. I'll give you a shopping list as a guideline for what we'll need and you can use your best judgement from there. Really, everything works out well, so no worries on it. We'll meet before hand or after so I can pass off the collections or whatever works best. I'm flexible on that.

when you take $5 times 40 to 50 people it is plenty. Even if 20 people donate $5 and rest bringing food, it should be enough when you are buying bulk at the sampler house of gorging known as "Costco".

Something I'm a little confused about still...we are gonig to try to use Lot F oversized, but with the regular passes right? Assuming that works, where am I supposed to park my car? To get into lot F, you still need a Lot F parking pass right? So should I buy one online? For the preseason game, I just parked in the free Lot H and took the shuttle to the stadium. This time, should I do that again and just shuttle/walk to Lot F when the tailgate gets started? Or would buying a Lot F pass be better? I'd prefer not to spend the extra $20-$30 though. I guess I can use Lot H and keep in contact with one of you via cell phone to see where the tailgate gets going?

There is an area to sell scalped tickets, the new stadium has caused prices to skyrocket as you used to get into sundevil stadium cheap. Parking was better at sundevil stadium in my opinion. As far as a bar depends where you are staying in the valley, scottsdale, westside, east mesa, tempe, chandler, etc.

I have the same issue. I have a pass for Lot G. I will somehow do a drop off of food and my group then. I plan to foot it over to Lot F. The RV area is not that large and if the flags are flying I am sure you won't/can't miss miss it. Now if things fall through and Archie cannot get the RVs in well get stuck out in the back of Lot H. Everyone can park there you don't need a pass. there are people tailgating out there. The only issue is you have to ride a shuttle bus, but they have several running constantly. I know this is vague, but its the best plan I think we have.

These are Over off 83rd the area I posted about hotels.
McDuffy's (http://www.mcduffys.com/)
Hooters
Fox and Hound (http://www.tentcorp.com)
Blue Moon Saloon
Down the road from the hotels. Not within walking distance.
Sky Box (http://phoenix.citysearch.com/profile/1708565/glendale_az/sky_box_sports_cafe.html#profile)
Padre Murphy's (http://www.padremurphy.com/) This one is my favorite.

Oh...and we are staying at the Quality Inn in Glendale.
Coopers town (http://www.alicecooperstown.com/)(Alice Coppers restaurant) is in downtown Phoenix. The place is pretty sweet. We go there prior to baseball and basketball games.
I personally would not take Grand Ave. Too many lights. 101 to the 10 is quicker. There are several bars in the area around Coopers Town, but if there are no sports going on I believe it dead. Its also a drive depending on where your staying.
Woody if your staying staying in Tempe. You need to get down to Mill Ave. Its by ASU and there are lots of bars and restaurants. Good times
12th Man be careful going to bars over there of I-17 and Peoria. There's a few but I always here about problems. Although you need to eat at Fajita's (http://travel.yahoo.com/p-reviews-2807607-prod-travelguide-action-read-ratings_and_reviews-i) order the shrimp its awesome.

Thanks!

We lost 3.... So we should be solid at 14 of us.
STG... I can coordinate picking up stuff at the hotel before we head to the tailgate if that works out. We know whose house we are staying at but I have no idea where in Phoenix it is yet. We will be driving thru Tucson from Denver to drop off someone for the weekend so we'll be getting to Phoenix sometime late morning on Saturday.
We have two RV's and two Lot F passes (from Bronco Billy). As Ogi notes the biggest challenge we have is getting the people who run the lots to agree to let us into the Lot F with the RV's and these passes. It sounds like we can but it's no guarantee so we'll need to be ready to punt to Lot H.

Archie, Why don't we coordinate meeting at the hotel in the morning and caravaning to the parking lot. That way we'll all go in together and if there's any issues, we can transfer stuff to another vehicle or at least coordinate getting the info out to everyone if we have to make a last minute change. I have one Lot F pass from Bronco Billy, too...so I'll be parking there as well.
I'll update the list with your info.

Definitely think we'll need more grills. My grill is a table top grill and so not too big. We probably need two more grills.
We could probably use one more table.
We'll probably have two coolers but they will be close to capacity with the stuff we are bringing already so I would think we would want two or three more coolers if we can find people to bring them. There are a fair number of folks who are planning to park in Lot F so if they all bring a cooler we should be ok.
My brother and law and I can cook but we'll probably want two or three more cooks for the other grills.

Hey, Ogi...any idea on what time the lots open and how long before the lots open people begin lining up to park?
What I'm thinking is maybe we can set up a meeting site prior to heading to parking and see if we can't all manage to get in close to each other. I know some have different lot passes to park, so they could pass of the stuff they have (coolers, grills, food, etc) to those parking in Lot F so they don't have to carry things. Thoughts?

Nah sure don't. I seemed to have him rattled when I told him we were a group of several thousand strong who needed one central place to tailgate. When I told him that he said "Call back and we will work with you". If I recall he was the top manager of the parking dept. Might be worth a shot to call. I did tell him it was rediculous to require people to drive in to their stupid park to drop off tailgate gear and park elsewhere but hey it's the Cardinal organization so why expect any rational thinking right?

Ok...so, I'm not trying to throw a monkey wrench into anything, but I just got off the phone with the Cardinals Ticket office. The gal was telling me that they do allow oversized vehicles in LOT H but it's on a first come first serve basis. The lot opens 4 hours prior to the game (10am on this day for a 2pm game). When I asked how early people start lining up, she said early...but, not 6am early! Heck....for a 2pm game, we're usually at the stadium at 6am!
So, my question is this...and, I would assume this would be more of an Archie question....Do we try for Lot F and hope we are able to make it happen...or we do we split our chances and try for a Lot F and Lot H attempt?
Should we have a backup plan just in case Lot F doesn't pan out? Yeah, I'm a little nervous after reading some of the guidelines.
Also, just to note....we do need a couple of grills, but charcoal grills are not allowed, so we need to make sure they are gas or propane only.
Also, if we want to arrive and park/tailgate as a group, we have to arrive at the same time.

Lot H is open parking. People do tailgate there and they are way in the back. No parking pass is needed and they do allow all RV's. They have several buses running from lot H to the stadium. Now don't get me wrong its still a good walk to the buses since this Lot is huge. This Lot is not within walking distance of the stadium, unless you like a nice long walk. This would be the best option for everyone to park next to each other though.
I will try and get details on when the lots open.
Also did you read my note about Ogi+5 now, and MO<1>+1?

I like lot F the best. The only worry I have is that we don't have an oversized vehicle pass for the RV's. I guess what we could do is just all go in together and if the RV's can't get in, we can make an executive decision then. I say we meet up before and caravan in so we can all park together..those that have lot F passes.

Nice... I don't know how to respond to this. I've called the Cardinals 3 times on this regarding Lot F and if you listen to them I will not get either of our RV's into the lot. But if you listen to Ogi and to the guy that talked to Bronco Billy (perhaps biased since his contact info was given to him by the lame person who sold him regular Lot F passes under the pretense that they were Lot F Oversized passes) it is supposedly "not a problem" to get our RV's into the lot. But - I will remain only cautiously optimistic until we drive thru the gates (or whatever we drive thru :)).
So... my preference is to try Lot F as it seems worth the try. But this is really only true if we believe we can punt to Lot H if we have to.. (or overwhelm the folks in Lot F to let us in).

my 2 cents worth
i say we hook up at someones hotel sun am...load up the cars (i will have a rental car and room for 1-2 ppl and whatever we can fit in the trunk), caravan over and try lot F, if not, then H or whatever...(H only looks like a block or 2 away? - long walk my a$$!)
i will check a bag with one of my small grills (no propane) and ketchup and mustard and whatever plasticware i can fit...
archie-
any room in your rig for my grill? it folds to 26l x15w x14h plus #20 propane tank?
based on my experience in other stadium lots, curbs can be driven over and access gained from one lot to another without much interference...
did the locals decide on bar for sat nite?

Ok, you might have missed the part about me living here and I have seen the parking lots. The walk from H to F would be like walking from Mile High to say Zangs, maybe a bit further, but there are buses.http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c297/Ogi_USAF/LotH-1.jpg
This was taken from across the street from Lot H.
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c297/Ogi_USAF/LotHa-1.jpg
This if from same spot looking at H. Can you see the RVs way in the back? That's were we'd end up.
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c297/Ogi_USAF/EntranceLotFoversized.jpg
This is the entrance to Lot F Oversized. Lot F is fully accessible to Lot F oversized, but the Cards have more than curbs they have metal barricades set up throughout all other areas..
The local (Ogi) had stated several bars an no one but Woody has spoke up. His group is planning on Coopers town (Alice Coppers restaurant) with his group. Nice place to check out. I am not sure what you all want based on where you staying I guess would make a diff.
Here's the post what do you all want?
Some ideas about bars. We'll need some DD's or just cab it.

I am calling backseat in STGs rental car. Perfect seat to pass out on. Actually, I learned my lesson from the home game vs Faiders at Sports Column and i dont have the luxury of a late night game to recoup. Wherever BMF and STG wants to go, I am the third (or 4th) wheel. Whereever everyone wants to go is fine with me. If it is also a restuarant, then Ludo might DD also so a little distance might not be bad. But like i said, I am a follower for the AZ game after coordinating the tailgate party for SD. I will volunteer on the grill then i will try to get the beer off the bottom of the can..... many times. Meeting at hotel will be best. Remember, I have 2 tickets and a single as a maner wants the other 2 in section 107. Let me know if interested.

Ok, I'll make some executive decisions....chime in if you have any thoughts.
1. Sat night we'll start at Hooters! If we want to stay there, great. If we want to end up somewhere else, then we can use Hooters as the Rendezvous point and mozy from there.
2. Sunday morning the lots will open at 10am (4 hours from game time) I suggest we meet at 8:45am at our hotel parking lot (4 miles from the stadium-unless Ogi has a better suggestion of a store parking lot that might be more suited) load up and caravan there. Those that have Lot F passes can work on parking near each other and those that don't can load everything in our vehicles. We will plan on leaving at 9am to head over to the stadium. If you don't make it by then, look for us in Lot F. Archie, do you have a flag pole on your RV? Do you have a flag we can fly, or shall we bring one? If you have one, can you describe it so those that don't make it can find us more easily?
3. Most importantly....lets have fun! :) GO BRONCOS!
John, my backseat of the car will be a little scrunched....but we can make it work. My daughter will be with us, too.
btw...I'll have my laptop with my on the trip, I arrive on Friday and I'll do some checking, too. Ogi....you have been a GREAT help!! Thanks for doing all the legwork for us!

Meeting at 8:45 at your hotel works. We'll probably also hang on Saturday night but not 100% sure on that yet.
We'll have two RV's. My RV is a Four Winds and my father-in-law's is a Coachman. I have 3 flag poles with the US, Colorado, and 3 Bronco flags. I also will have my "Bronco Boy" on top. That's the big inflatable Bronco player in a 3 point stance... So... should be hard to miss :)....

Ok - looks like we should be set for Saturday night. The friends we are staying with are only about 15 min from the launch point (Hooters currently).
We'll be staying in Tucson on Friday night and then heading up to Phoenix on Saturday. At one point in this thread (way way way back at the beginning) I had suggested a golf tournament on Saturday but I don't know if there is any possibility in pulling off even a round of golf. Anyone planning to golf on Saturday?

Right now, the only grills we have coming are yours, 12th man's and one from Ogi. If anything, I can pick up a little coleman grill on Friday when I get there and you guys can just keep it for future tailgates. Let me know if that's what we need to do.
I'm also planning on whipping up some Jungle Juice for the tailgate.

I know that smalltowngirl in organizing all this was just trying to make an executive decision, so we could all meet up. Very good idea, but from reading it seems no one is happy with that.
There is so much going on in town it just depend on everyones taste. Those of you staying at the Quality Inn in Glendale should check out Glendale Glitters (http://www.ci.glendale.az.us/events/EnchantedEveningsQuietNights.cfm). As far as golf there are plenty of courses, this also depend where you want to drive to. I play, but very bad. I go for the beer and conversations. I will check on some courses with a buddy of mine who is an avid golfer and post later today.
The Heart Attack (http://www.heartattackgrill.com) looks like a glorified burger joint. But I agree if you all are coming to town you should go local. A few choices, are Padre Murphy's, Tilted Kilt (http://www.tiltedkiltaz.com/) (waitresses) wear short kilts very nice. I see that's what a few want. Also Alice Coppers restaurant (http://www.alicecooperstown.com/) is considered a local joint. If you all want to party then Tempe/Mill Ave is the place its right there next to ASU. Like Chef Luigi (Zam) said its on the other side of town from the Stadium.
These are Over off 83rd the area I posted about hotels.

Off 47th and Glendale Ave down the road from the Quality Inn:
Max's Restaurant & Sports Bar (http://www.azcentral.com/ent/music/articles/1229sportsbar29.html). When you open this link scroll down near the bottom.
I also forgot this bar Rosie McCaffrey's Irish Pub (http://www.rosiemccaffreys.com/index.htm)
and this one in Tempe The Library (http://www.thelibraryusa.com/index_content.html) Here's some info about the Tempe/Mill Ave bars (http://www.downtowntempe.com/Bars--Grills.asp)
Here's some stuff also Night Guide Phoenix (http://phoenix.nightguide.com/)
Well with all that said. Lets start at one place if not Hooter's then Padre Murphy's. Its off 43rd Ave and Bell. Those staying at the Quality Inn would just head North to Bell and take a right. Its also close to I-17, so those wanting to go to Tempe or downtown Phoenix could jump on the highway.
We have a pretty decent highway system gets crowded, but you can get around easy. Here's an idea of where everything is.

Alright...it's THAT week! The week leading up to the game that, for all intent and purposes, WILL break the broncos in their slump! We MUST walk out of this place with a WIN!!
And, we will be there to cheer our team on!! Come with your signs, and rest your voices this week. We want to make a statement in AZ that Broncos fans live and die and travel well with our team! (not to mention AZ has lots of hometown broncos fans!) :)
I'll post the updates on where we stand with funds and what we need going into the game. Ludo, can you send me a message with what you brought back from SD? If you have anything that you are bringing, any funds that you would like to contribute or any RSVP's that you haven't given, please do so ASAP...today preferrably! Either post on this thread or send me a PM!
When I post the update, I'll also reitterate the gameplan for our tailgate meeting up and location, etc.
As far as Sat night is concerned, we're having dinner with a friend that evening and will hook up with you all a bit later. Just let me know where you all choose to park it for the night!

Ok. someone needs to add many pop up tents. At least the stadium is roofed. I bet they didnt think it would be needed for rain though. What are the plans in early afternoon before we make our pub crawl?
