View Full Version : Favre to Oakland?

ESPN Page 2 Article suggesting just that. I want to see Favre retire. I think he needs to get out of the game but frankly I'm biased because I don't want him surpassing Elway's career wins record.

What is scary is that Oakland has a history of resurrecting old QB’s… Plunkett and Schroeder come to mind. Favre might be a good fit in Oakland, lobbing long bombs to Moss.

It's a sensible fit, provided Favre restructures his contract (or the Packers cut him and take a cap hit).

You guys that keep bringing this up must have missed his press conference where he said there isn't enough time for his kids, hunting and playing golf.

I guess I missed that Press Conference... All I've heard him say is he does not know what he'll do but he still thinks he has game. And, it sounds like in part it will depend on the Packers. I don't see how they move forward with him but that franchise does not want to see him play anywhere else either.

That's such a cliche' ... Even if he were to play until he was 40, most people work until their 60, so he would still have 20 more years to adequately enjoy his family than most.

that way our db's can pad their stats from him chuckin' up int's left and right

The Raiders can't afford it (a and (b he'll suck out there too...never have I seen more miserable QB play this year from a professional...and I saw Heath Shuler play pro ball...and Ryan Leaf.

HTF do you enjoy your kids growing up when you're 60? :)

The point being he's never said this before and to top it all off he sucks so who would want him?

Did he also mention that there's not enough time in life for old cliches?

Favre wants another Superbowl. If he has a chance to be that (cliche alert) "missing piece," (another cliche) "he's such a competitor" that I wouldn't be suprised to see him take it.

John was saying the same stuff, but his family supposedly outvoted him and he ended up staying in the league for an extra year. I wouldn't be suprised to see Favre's family vote the same way. The NFL is kind of a big deal. I'm not convinced Favre is ready to hang them up to go hunting and fishing with his kids.

How many wins does he need anyways to tie/pass Elway?

Someone is definitely going to catch him. Quarterbacks are much better cared for in this day and age...

Third all-time in career wins as a starting QB, with 138 (John Elway holds the record with 148, and Marino is 2nd with 147).

Big difference between John's situation and Favre's.
Did I also mention Favre Sucks? How many teams would want a INT throwing machine? He just was on again yesterday saying how much of a commitment it is to play now and it's not automatic like it used to be.

He better call it quits now or go out as one of the worst has-beens in league history.

The Packers owner has stated that if Favre continues to play they want him in Green Bay. I seriously doubt Favre will go play with another team especially the Raiders who are still a long way from being a Super Bowl caliber team.

Yea, but my point is that the Owner still wants Favre there. Its not like they want to dump Brett anywhere.

Yeah ... he'll have a place to play (Green Bay) if he wants to. He's only 9 wins from tying Elway for most NFL wins.

I'm not sure I want to see him reach that record. Favre already has played in 200+ straight games, if I remember correctly. That's crazy ugh!~

It's an awkward situation. He's carrying a 10 million dollar cap figure for next season.

And the minute that rook throws a pick, the Farve chants are going to echo down from on high.

Would I like to see him come here? Well, if we're going to have someone running around throwing off his back foot next season I'd just as soon it be Brett Farve, if we could swing it somehow.

Kinda play Kitna to Andrew Walter's Palmer.

It's definitely a Davis type of move, but I doubt it happens.

Its too bad Walter is a Raider tho. I liked watching him here in AZ at ASU. I want him to have a successful career, but not as a faid. ;D His killer arm is a great fit for the Faid system, just have to learn to check down and not force it.

How many QB's have had good years when only one position player remains from when the season started. Favre does not suck, and Jake was an INT machine last year and look at the year he is having this year.

I seem to remember reading his wife is recovering from Cancer. If that is the case that can wear on an individual, and with the stress of playing for a bad team he may be getting burnout.

Favre is a great QB, but he needs a coach who can manage him. His best yrs were under Holmgren, and he made sure Favre managed his wild side. After the coach's departure Favre started going back to his old ways and becoming wilder. His antics have not only cost GB playoff games (granted he got them there), but also now cost them regular season games. It goes to show the importance of good coaching.

If Favre had gone to Arizona, he would have never become the HOF QB he is, because their coaching and bad teams would have magnified Favre's bad tendencies. This is just a long-winded way of saying that the Raiders lack the coaching to address Favre’s present tendencies.

When I read this thread I thought, "That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. What dumba** reported that?"

And then, to no surprise, I see it was written by Jason Whitlock. I swear to God, Jason Whitless has got to be the worst columnst in the nation. He goes on to say that the Redskins are the best team in the NFC, :pity: and that the Broncs are only the 5th best in the AFC due to not matching up with the Colts. HUH?

He just lives in the past and has no objectivity whatsoever. Denver revamped their whole defense to specifically matchup with Indy. We have four players at CB we did not have last year (counting champ) and a better DL.

I can hardly wait til we go to the Bowl so I can see Whitless eat massive amounts of crow.

Turner is as bad as it gets, can only go up from here.

I'm starting to think Pat Hill or maybe Kirk Ferentz gets the nod, but I have nothing to base that on. Just a hunch.

I wonder if Al is spiteful enough to try and pry Charlie Weiss away from the Fighting Catholics. I read his NFL opt out is a mere 1.5 million.

Probably a pipe dream, but that's the kind of move I think would go a long way toward filling that stadium, which incidently the Raiders are on the hook for now since the City is no longer involved.

I dont think Al will reverse field and hire someone who was already here and subsequently left and definately not a Defensive guy.

Although Fassel's name is being thrown out there and was here before.
