don't get blown out, and make sure we don't have any injuries
other than that, I don't care
I just want our guys to stay sharp and focused unlike 2003 and 1996...and HEALTHY, that is the main thing

If Dayne can get 15 to 20 carries, we'll see a 100 yard rusher.

Staying healthy is key.
But also not getting complacent, play the starters all game just rotate them in and out. Give the vets rest that need it. Jake plays first half, then BVP for the second. That would be the best scenario.
And i hope we beat the Chargers!!!!!!!! I want 13-3 !!!!!

It's an exhibition game of sorts. It'd be nice to go in to the bye week with a win, but the main thing is to stay healthy.
I'm interested to see Van Pelt play for an extended period of time. Even though he has a lot of haters here on the 'mane I enjoyed watching him in college. He progressed as a passer quite a bit from his junior to senior seasons. I want to see what the Rat, Kubiak, and McPherson have been able to do with him.

If Shanny only holds out four guys (Anderson, Wilson, D. Williams and Brown), I'd say the Broncos will probably make a game of it. But unless it's very close, I doubt we'll see guys like Plummer, Pryce, Smith, Lynch or Bailey still in the game in the 4th quarter.
I figure we keep it close until halftime - - maybe down by 3 or 4 - - But if the Chargers score first in the 3rd and go up by more than 10, then lots of our starters head to the bench.
I do think that we'll see a lot of Tatum Bell. He needs a little over 130 yards to hit the grand mark, and Shanny will give him a shot at it.

Just like shanny said tho, their is only so many players. 45 guys aint the same as preseasons 65, you just cant rest everyone. He knows who needs it and who doesnt, i trust the mastermind!Knowitall

If Lynch gets a shot at shotty on a sideline play, TAKE IT and say 'oops, an accident, sorry.'
I hope not to be too shlt faced at the tailgate :) Other than that I will take a win and a shotty getting clipped on the sidelines hit.
I am not asking for too much!

Here's how i see it. I , as well as all of you, understand that this is a game where we should rotate players and keep key players healthy, but i have been waiting all year for this game because it is the only game i am going to, so i want it to be a good game and since i live in so cal i have a lot of chugger fans so i want to rub it in their face

I think we're eventually going to see some David Terrell, some Devoe, maybe some Watts, if he's activated, Meyers at the Center, some Jackson & Duke at the TE, and a lot of Van Pelt.
On defense, Pope, Veal, Engleberger, Cox, Pehmah, Brandon, Alexander, Green, etc.

We should see the devastatingly mediocre backfield of Van Pelt, Sapp, and Dayne by 5:00 of the first quarter. Charlie Adams, Todd Devoe, and David Terrell should be lulling DB's to sleep by the 2nd quarter.
On defense, get our guys about a quarter's work and send them home. Let Da Meat Hook (Veal) wreak havoc and see what paymah and the other all-pros in waiting back there can do.
This is nothing more than a pre-season game--sit our big boys early.

If we can open up the running game early I'd like to see Bell get a shot at 1000. It's a long shot against a good run D but plausible. Also would like to see BVP get his game going and bring in Duke and DaVoe and see what those two can do at TE and WR - I like both of them.
Rest the key people and otherwise play a good game, have fun, and be injury free...

We should play full tilt and try to win...it sucks that we aren't and we'll hope not to pay the price in the second season. There are no meaningless games.

Yea, I'm a little torn on this one. I DO think we need to rest our vets at some point, but a loss isn't the way we want to go into a bye week, either. The good news is that SD doesn't have much to play for, either. I just don't guys like Smith, Lepsis, Wilson (etc.) in harm's way. Maybe play them the first half?

Part of me would like us to do it the Belichick way and play our regulars almost the entire game. However, that would make me pretty nervous, especially with Plummer. If there's one player we can't afford to go down, it's him. I really don't want to see Merriman slamming into Plummer.
Popps is right, though, that SD doesn't have much to play for, either, although they also have nothing no reason to play it safe, either. I'd love to get to 13-3, but I think we'll lose. As long as we can get enough work to keep our regulars shard, I guess it's ok.

A win would be the icing on a great year, but health, they say... is priceless! It would be nice to see BVP win this one for the team. Why not get the "second" team some reps? Let's see what David Terrell can do. I would like to see Tater get his yards. There is nothing I would rather see than a 13-3 record going into the postseason!!

It's a pre-season game. I have tickets and Im glad... Ill get to see how a lot of the young talent reacts in a real game situation.
Rest the guys we need: Champ, Jake, Rod
Start the guys we need to evaluate that dont get much playing time: Watts, Terrell, Devoe, Duke, Myers, Paymah, BVP, Brandon

sadly, the only game I see with "real" implications is det in pitt, and somehow I don't fancy watching that. cinny at KC is suppose, but I think that game will be irrelevant after pitts kicks detwat back to the nfc.

I think the Atlanta/Carolina game and the Dallas/Rams games will be good, b/c I think Carolina loses to Atlanta and Dallas beats the Rams and sneaks in the backdoor of the playoffs.
I'm interested in the KC/Cinncy game based on who will be the #3 seed, I hope it's Cinncy b/c I'd much rather face them in the 2nd round than the pats and undefeated in the playoffs Brady.

This looked like a critical game. This will be a good time to have our second team step up. Our second team isn't a bunch of sluches, but they can use some time.
I am totally against running Tater to the ground just to get 1000. That's idiotic, and SD had a good run D. let Dayne and Cecil pound on them. That will teach them to behave. We have a damn good second team. This is the deepest team I have seen in years. Give BVP some reps too. Adams, DEVO. others...our line will stay in and hopefully stay healthy. This is a good week to build some depth in experience. SD won't be cheap shotting like Oakland did.
It's funny...even when SD won the division, there was virtually no hatred...when NE won their third, no hatred...why? They have some class...RatBirds and Faiiders can rot in Hades.

i hear ya. but then again, tater's got a week to rest after this. and he wants more reps; he thinks he has what it takes to be the man. this is an opportunity for him to prove it.

Yeah, because its essentially a pre-season game.
The team did so well for 15 weeks, they get a 5th pre-season game this year.

I hope BVP tosses 4 TDs and Tater runs for 3 more and 150yrds on the ground with Dayne hangin another 75 on em.
It would be great for BVP to put some pressure on Jake for tjhe future making him play even better.
And I how Cincy beats KC to knock all our AFC west guys out of the playoffs.
On second thought if KC beats Cincy wqe wouldnt play KC unless they made it through Indy to the AFC chamionship at Invesco so Go Chiefs! We need to win ands Chiefs need to win and I guess someone needs to beat the Steelers ffor KC to squeak in, is that correct?
Then on the thirdhand, what are the odds of KC beating Indy in Indy? Slim to none who left town a long time ago. The only way we play Cincy is if they beat the Steelers. I'd MUCH rather play Cincy than Steelers right now.

None of that will matter once Den forfeits to SD on Saturday. I think the game will be close until Plummer comes out, I thought it would be a tough game for a full strength DEN team without the starters. Here's to no injuries and 1000k for tatum.
