Chiefs/Broncos, Elway vs. Montana. Chiefs win, but man I will never ever forget that game.
Anyways, here's a question: How many people are actually going to stay for that whole game? I thought I read somewhere that they wouldn't be selling any booze tonight. Seriously, you'd have to be retarded drunk to sit through a Jets game...

I feel sorry for the people that don't have cable TV. I was in that same predicament for 2 years during college.
At least, the NFL is balancing it out by putting Sunday Night Football on free TV. NBC is going to have the power to put more favorable matchups on the schedule during the second half of the season.

1995 was the MNF 27-0 shutout where Dave Wyman got fined for breaking Jeff Hostetler's jaw and James Trapp started a brawl by kicking Ed McCaffrey in the ribs while he laid on the ground.
1996 was the game where John Elway led Denver to another 4th quarter comeback in the friendly confines of the Oakland-Alameda Coliseium. Elway pump faked, the safety bit, and threw a bomb to Rod Smith!

Elway's 4th quarter comeback vs. Chicago at Mile High in 1987.
Denver's convincing victory at Rich Stadium in 1989. The Bills were starting to get real good and Bobby Humprhey ran all over them.
Gary Kubiak leads Denver to victory in Washington D.C. subbing for a bed ridden Elway who got the stomach flu at the White House.
Elway's bomb to Vance Johnson on a 4th and 10 leads to a game winning FG vs. Kansas City in 1990. That was the same game where Atwater laid out Okoye.

Best game ever was John Elway's masterful performance in 1987, when the Broncos beat the Bears 31-29.

Anyone who can remember back to '84 would say the Broncos/Packers game because of the unbelieveable way the Broncos won that game (scoring two TDs before the Broncos' offense ever touched the ball).

What is your most memorable moment on MNF?
Mine was attending the first Denver MNF appearance against Oakland in Mile High, and my first Bronco game of any kind. It was "Orange Monday", October 22nd, 1973 and we pulled out a tie against the hated Raiders and went on to a 7-5-2 record for our first winning season ever. My dad took me and I think our tix at 40 yard line about 30 rows up cost $6.60 each. Mile High held only 50,000 but you couldn't hear the person next to you unless they were screaming in your ear. It was awesome.
To bad MNF is leaving ABC but does we don't have to listen to Larda** Madden any more? That might be worth it.

Its funny how people have romanticized the memory of Howard Cosell. He was a titan in his industry, but he was far past his prime and long beyond ready to go when he retired.

The Joe Washington game where I think he returned two kicks for TD's to win the game, in a driving rain. I don't remember all of the details, and I am probably dating myself. The Earl Campbell game was also great. Earl had a short career, but he sure was awesome.

That's okay...many kids learn the game that way.
I, personally, will NOT miss the "are you ready for some football" pregame music. Of course, I'm not a country fan either. Jimmy Kimmel isn't funny at all. MNF has gotten desparate in trying to keep fans engaged. It would help if we didn't have to watch Ravens/Packers, etc. I'm open to the NFL moving games to MNF based on records late in the season.

Nothing about nothing really, but I remember battling through a blizzard to get to a Monday Night game in 1984 against the Packers.
By the time I reached the press box only a few minutes into the game I saw the score...Denver 14 Green Bay 0.
I was soaking wet when I sat down at a typewriter & a few drops of water sent up a buzz & sparks and shorted out the thing.
I did two reports by phone before the pay phone went out.
Only half the press crew was there...one of the local t-v guys slipped in the parking lot and compound fractured his ankle.
After the game I couldn't remember where I parked my car and the snow as so deep, I couldn't tell one car from another.
Near the press entrance/exit was a vehicle that resembled a Snow-Kat idling away in wait for the MNF crew.
I hopped an RTD & got home around mid-night...my car was towed from the lot & cost me $150 bucks three days later.
Meanwhile, our erstwhile new Mayor Fedrico Pena was creating a new solution to snow control....he sent out an army of trash trucks to 'tamp' down the snow...ostensibly so people could still get around.
It created a street by street ice sheet that lasted into December.
Ah, you live & learn

1 - Aw c'mon man, I would count on a guy like you to enjoy the old school clips. Granted 90% of them are largely rehashed stuff, but I will say that this "show" was probably the most watched show of my life. They didn't show me alot of new stuff tonight, but I did grin alot in appreciation. Thanks ABC and thanks Monday Night Football!!!
2 - That's been my mantra for a long time. I don't remember you feeling this way about that game over the years I've known you. Glad to see you tip you hat to this game now. Far and away the greatest MNF game I've ever seen; regular season game at least!!!! The greatest ebb and flow MNF game of all time!!! An all time classic and better than 94 Chiefs Broncos by a significant margin.
Don't let anyone fool you. So many of the so called greatest MNF games ever were **** games for two quarters. 2000 Jets Phins was a **** game for 3 quarters. The vastly overrated 1985 Dolphins Bears game was a one sided affair from the start of the 2nd period.
1987 Bears at Broncos is the greatest MNF game of all time. John Elway at his jaw dropingly best!!!!!!!! Get a copy of the game and listen the Al, Dan and Frank just verbally blow the guy!!! Ebb and flow for 60 minutes. An NFL masterpiece!!!
3 - I really dug Gifford, with Howard and Dandy Don. They entertained me a ton!!! I've never been into the bashing the announcer thing. I disliked the Alex Karras and Namath/OJ things, but Howard, Giff and Dandy were great.

3 - Nostalgia's great.
