You'd be quite amazed at how they're hating on us on the message board on the official Bengals website Bengals.com....in the trash talking forum i've come across some real idiots...here's a little of what I've been reading

Speaking of paper, the Broncos are paper champs. You really think 1 game(losing in AFCC) is a big step forward??lol

I dont mean to snap on you are anything cuz i have nothing against Broncos and its Xmas eve...but i believe the Bengals are better then the Broncos

Enjoy the shortlived glory...
UR Christmas gift is about to break in half if you face the steelers.

Be prepared to lose to a different team in the playoffs this year...It'll still be your first game, and it'll still be a beating.

Look at your division, you have an overrated Chiefs team, and inconsistent Chargers team, a horrible Oakland team...And don't get me started on the chop-blocking cheaters who are run by...What's his name...THE MISTAKE.

lot more where that came from...i've been slapping them around with quality takes..and having fun doing it...if anyone else wants to do the same...or just wanna read some of their crap here's the link to one of the threads they're talking trash on:

It really is comical and pathetic. This week's game was a preview of how unprepared they really are for the big time.

I actually do like their team, but they need to mature a bit IMO. Any time a team gets full of themselves enough to make a video like they did, is in trouble. Especially before they've even accomplished a single thing.

This is like a bitter punk who just got his clock cleaned in the playground...they don't really know how to deal with social skills...(not that I'm great at it).

He's more than welcome to come to Mile High, if they can get thru their wild card round. We won't cut him up like if he had to go to Oakland, we will just have a good laugh.

After all these years of losing, you would think they would know the principal of losing with dignity. I guess they bought into all the Carson Palmer spin...That guy got 3X the ESPN air time than Jake. This is nothing new.

One thing to notice tho...ESPN refuses to even mention the two game losing streak by INDY. I just watched the show, and they wouldn't even show the the highlights on Primetime. I swear, I might of been typing, but I didn't see anything on INDY VS. HAWKs. I don't think I saw a damn thing.

Did anyone see any Seattle highlights? I didn't see anything.

A. We beat the team they just lost to, except we beat them in Buffalo.

B. They have go into Kansas City and hope they can be the team that snaps their December-home-games-won streak.

This is a good point. There is a lot to like about the Bengals, in my opinion. Carson Palmer is the real deal, I like some of the young players they have on offense, their OL is solid, their defense is only going to get better, and Marvin Lewis is very bright. All that said, I think their inexperience has shown at times this year, and I really think it will expose them in the playoffs.

Barring catastrophic injuries, though, I think they will be a team to contend with every year for awhile.

What's going to expose them in the postseason is that their defense isn't all that adept at stopping anyone unless they're forcing turnovers.

A team like the Broncos (who are tied for 2nd in the NFL with only 16 total giveaways this season) will pose problems for them because they take care of the ball.

Perhaps they don't understand that gagging up a chance at a 1st round bye by losing to Buffalo at home is a bad thing. That plus they'll now be forced into a must win situation at KC in December (which no one has pulled off since Bill Clinton was still in office) just to hang on to the #3 seed.

3/4 seed isn't really that important. you get a home game in the wild card round. Doesn't matter, but it would be funny to seen them dump another.

We got some minor injuries and can rest them a little as well as other bumps and bruieses for awhile after this next game. I know Shanahan says he's playing starters, but several players will be held out.

According to the **** that they're talking, they'd better certainly hope that they're the 3 seed instead of the 4. Yes, they get to host a game during wild card weekend, but then, if things go according to form, they're headed to the accursed dome in Indy rather than to Invesco. Remember, according to these MENSA members, the Broncos are "paper champions."

Their logic would suggest that they'd rather meet us than the Colts, but if they get beat by KC next weekend and the Pats handle the Jets & Dolphins, that's not likely to happen. That loss to Buffalo was a lot more damning then they know.

There are fans for every team like that but it's only teams that have turned it around after years of sucking that get fans like these and unfortunately they get them by the hundreds. I'm really starting to be majorly annoyed by this team....and it's not solely based on the antics of Goldmouth and his azz kissing apologists either. I see the Bengals as a serious threat for years to come and one that will only improve over time given their current course. The core is young, highly skilled and will be together far longer than any of the other playoff teams out there right now. Then there's Marv Lewis...a guy who has turned a garbage franchise into gold....no mean feat by any means and that should serve as notice and a warning to everyone. This is a fairly new enemy to where this team needs to go and they must be delt with ruthlessly until one of the worst owners in pro sports steps in an annihilates any chance the Bengals will have at sustaining this rare success.

So, In spite of an fairly easy to be amused public, a "style" that ensures ESPN coverage and a downtroddened fanbase re-engerized by bandwagon fans...I have not given up hope of an organizational implosion by the Bengals. My hope is that Mike Brown will eventually assert himself and bring the whole thing down....it's very possible (and perhaps inevitable) since the guy is a total hammerhead of Bidwell-like perportions.

Till then, all enemies must be delt with serverly....and that includes the Bengals. I will continue to give them (any of them) no quarter.

Tail of two weeks...

Denver goes to Buffalo and wins in their backyard 28-17 in convincing fashion.

Buffalo goes to Cincy in the following week and takes them behind the woodshed in their own house.

I'm going to laugh if this team loses to Jacksonville again at their own place in the first round. I can say this with conviction... The bengals are not ready.

When you compare how each team did against other teams of differing records, here's how everyone stacks up. Note that this is through 15 weeks (14 for New England since they play tonight).

Code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opponent Record Chiefs Steeler Jaguars Bengals Broncos Colts Patriots
4-11 or worse 4-0 3-0 5-0 3-0 3-0 5-0 3-0
5-10 to 7-8 0-2 3-1 3-1 5-1 3-0 3-0 2-0
8-7 to 10-5 4-3 2-1 1-0 2-1 5-3 2-1 4-3
11-4 or better 1-1 2-3 2-3 1-2 1-0 3-1 0-2

I really don't understand this logic. Can packers fans just wave off Seahawks fans by invoking this history-of-the-uniform line?

It's a jersey. What's the fascination with the past? Doesn't this suggest that pittsburgh and dallas fans have more reason to talk 'trash' or whatever than we do?

I understand how silly it sounds coming from a team who is 3rd seed when they are discussing the 2nd seed, but to suggest they're out of line based on what happened in 1973 is, well, weird.

i hear ya dude...but they are talking bout my broncos...

i have to (correction)...WE have to defend our team.....right?

if they wanna talk trash about an inner division foe or something cool....but they don't have a leg to stand on talkin' bout my broncos...that will be quite the one-sided boxing match if ya know what i mean.....

I loathe the bengals; just because i don't agree with the style of attack doesn't mean i like the team. I don't validate the method, but I support the intent.

If they were 15-0 right now and were talking trash and had no historical success I'd say they'd have every right to talk trash.

They seem confused so I explained it in more detail to them as follows...
http://boards.bengals.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9251&st=60&p=173490&

I guess logic is lost on you so I'll explain it to you in small easy bite sized pieces.

1) You EARN the right to talk when you actually ACCOMPLISH something
2) Your team has accomplished NOTHING
3) The very mention of the word "BENGALS" is synonomous in the NFL with being laughingstocks...whipping boys...punching bags...jokes...the very icon of mediocrity and a word capable of evokong instant pity for anyone who connects themselves with that team...you know...like "SAINTS"..."CARDINALS"..."LIONS"...I have to stop there because there are so few teams that literally DEFINE FAILURE over a long period of time...in the NBA it would be "CLIPPERS"...in baseball it would be "CUBS"...the point is your team is one of those teams everyone looks down on as pathetic so you should shut your yaps and just wait to see when and IF they do diddly jack squat in the playoffs before using the wrong fork at the dinner table and upchucking all over Aunt Matilda's new dress. If you want to sass Saints fans or Lion fans have at it but with teams that are perennial playoff contenders and synonomous with the word "EXCELLENCE"...leave it at home because you only make yourself look like complete idiots.

And being pathetic and idiotic at the same time just isn't appealing now is it? Ha!

Hopefully that will clear things up.

Here is a good article that states that the Bengals defense isn't good enough to win in the post season.

Bengals lose game and two seed

Written by Josh Kirkendall

One popular model to what devises a Super Bowl team is the defense. If you can stop the other team from scoring, at critical junctures of the game, the likeliness that your offense scores without the pressure of making something happen on each drive improves the overall efficiency of the team. In simpler terms, if you prevent the other team from scoring, your offense doesn’t have to play recklessly. And when you look through the teams earning the Lombardi trophy, you will see one common trend; a top-ten defense.
Even the offensive minded teams like St. Louis had a top-four defense the year they won their only Super Bowl. Dallas, San Francisco, and New England (the dynasties of the past three decades) had good offenses with marquee guys, but all were known for their defensive unit.

2004: New England (260, 2nd)
2003: New England (238, 1st)
2002: Tampa Bay (196, 1st)
2001: New England (272, 6th)
2000: Baltimore (165, 1st)
1999: St. Louis (242, 4th)
1998: Denver (309, 8th)
1997: Denver (287, 7th)
1996: Green Bay (210, 1st)
1995: Dallas (291, 3rd)
1994: San Francisco (296, 6th)
1993: Dallas (229, 2nd)
1992: Dallas (243, 5th)
1991: Washington (224, 2nd)
1990: New York Giants (211, 1st)
1989: San Francisco (253, 3rd)
1988: San Francisco (194, 8th)
1987: Washington (285, 6th)
1986: New York Giants (236, 2nd)
1985: Chicago Bears (198, 1st)
1984: San Francisco (227, 1st)
1983: Los Angeles Raiders (338 13th)

Let’s fast-forward to today in relation to the leaders of the league, and the Cincinnati Bengals. The AFC East champions, the New England Patriots having one additional game to play on Monday Night, have allowed the least amount of points among their division peers. The AFC South champions and heavy Super Bowl favorites, the Indianapolis Colts, have allowed the least amount of points among their division peers. The AFC West champions, the Denver Broncos, have allowed the least amount of points among their division peers.

The AFC North champions, the Cincinnati Bengals, have allowed the most amount of points among their division peers. Having already given up 313 points, the Bengals are fronting perhaps the worst defensive record among all participants. The Colts (234), Broncos (251), Patriots, (289), Jaguars (256) and Steelers (237) are the likely playoff contenders and all have played better defensively than the Bengals with one regular season game to go.

AND AMONG OTHER THINGS, going into the post season with a defense that can’t stop a drive, allowing long third down conversions, is troublesome. Momentum is huge in football, especially the NFL. When things click, when plays are effortlessly perfect, you have momentum. When things are frustrating, the offense struggles, penalties and turnovers are accentuated, and clearly you don’t have momentum. And it shows with the defense.

Before the game, the Bills offense had scored 20 points or more in only four games. The Bills scored a season-high 37 points. Baltimore scored more than 20 points in only two games this season; once (29) against the Bengals.

Sure the Bengals defense has been opportunistic, but clearly there’s a growing concern this defense will claim the bitter end to the 2005 Bengals. We can not go into the playoffs with this defense and expect success. But I hold onto my guns that this defense will be great soon; but right now it lacks overall experience, especially this late in the season where each play could reverse a season worth of work on a franchise that hasn't played meaningful games this close to the New Year since '90.

I always got to Chime in when this topic is brought up. DS49 and Atwater were complete domination over the opponent's middle of the field. No one DARED come into OUR TERITORY!!!!

It made me sick on COUNTDOWN when they were mentioning best tacklers and The VILLAGE IDIOT (stuart scott) mentions Ronnie Lott, but fails to mention either DS49 or ATWATER. What a clueless fool...

On the Defensive side, DS49 and Louie Wright, then, later, ATWATER are the reason I watched football, and especially the DENVER BRONCOS!!!

LOTT is a Bad-AZZ. But sure as sh*t, so were DS49 and ATWATER. They all had different strengths and weaknesses, so I count them as equals. After those three, there is a big (HUGE!) Dropoff...
