View Full Version : What loss bugs you most?

The game in New York surely was the most heartbreaking loss of the season, but it doesnŽt really matter as it "only" was a NFC game. I canŽt decide between the Miami game and the Chiefs game especially as weŽd have had a shot to win both had they been at a different time. Had we won one of those weŽd have a shot at staying home during the playoffs today!
The schedule did us no favors ... we had to play in Miami in September when it was hot down there, we had to go to Arrowhead in December when the Chiefs are almost unbeatable there and we had to go to Buffalo in the cold month of December.
well i'm going to write the KC game because honestly, we had that game in the bag in Arrowhead! So if we don't make some boneheaded moves like throwing a pick in the endzone and so fourth, we are walking out of KC having ended any chance of KC making the playoffs. We could have put the nail in their coffin a month ago.
I have to say it is a tie though... we were beating the Giants down... up by 13 points in the 4th and we gave it up. That to me is sad and on one of the last plays of the game too...

For me, it was the Giants game because I felt all along we would win it and we should have won it. The Dolphin game was a blowout and we were fighting uphill against the Chiefs so I'm not as perplexed by them. Losing to Miami didn't turn out to be the shame it appeared to be back in September. If anything, it might have awaken the team into playing harder against SD and KC.
New York.
Elam misses a game winning Field Goal to put us up 9.
Then the Defense lets the Giants go 70+ plus yards into the endzone.
We needed to pay the Giants back for 98.
Giants were the media darlings that month.
Clockwork Orange

I'll say the Miami game simply because it was such a poor showing by the offense. It was one of only two games this season the Broncos were held to less than 20 points (Baltimore being the other).
But something this team has been great about this year is rebounding from their losses. No prolonged slumps at all. They lost to Miami and the ran off five straight wins. They lost to the Giants and then won four straight. They lost to KC and now have won their last three. A short memory is a great thing for a team to have, they don't get too full of themselves after wins or too down after a loss. Once each game is over it's on to the next one. I credit that to excellent coaching and strong team leadership.

Miami - This was kind of an ugly one. An anomoly in a beautiful season.
New York - We stole one in Dallas. Karmic justice or something. I didn't mind it because we played good football. We learned from this.
Kansas City - We could have put the division away with this game and we didn't do it. As hard as we played we should have taken this game. This one sticks in my craw. Think about it. Tiki Barber runs all over this team and we can't beat them because of what? They were in Kansas City? Screw that! I wanted the sweep of Kansas City AND the Raiders.

The Miami game was a disaster. Utter horrid football by all aspects of the game except perhaps Saurbrun. It bugs the **** out of me that we cannot win in Miami ever. Just pisses me off to no end.
They have a decent team and its likely they finish 9-7, much better than any of us thought they would, but Denver should have stomped their ass, period.

New York by far, mainly because the OF1 crew drove a zillion miles and we blew a 13 point lead late. That had to be a brutally long drive back to Denver, all pissed off to boot. That's when Meck told me that was over the top to drive that far, even for him. I thought he was crazy to drive that far, but it's his bizzness. The loss itself wasn't devestating as much as stupid. Wasn't that the game where Elam could of iced the lead late as well and missed a chip shot FG?

Has to be NY.
Losing in Miami in September and Arrowhead in December isn't a big surprise.
Denver had the NY game won.

I'm with ya on the every loss pain there...but if i had to choose one loss....I'd pick....
The KC game...because late November and December is where you weed out the pretenders from the contenders. We lost a game we should have won, except our D surrendered a gazzillion rushing yards to Johnson...and you win in the post season by being able to run the ball, and stopping your opponent from running it.

You mean the game where Champ Bailey got an interception at our own 42 yard line with 4:56 left and set up the offense, that only needed about 30 yards to kick the game winning field goal, and went 3 and out? ;)
And there were some bull**** calls as well. You see, errand, thereŽs 2 ways to look at this loss. One blames the defense for giving up that late game winning the drive, the other blames the offense for doing fcuk all after the TD just after HT.

The Giants game simply because i was there. I also had to deal with my son hysterically crying after we lost and the fact that Disco got tossed out by security in the 2nd quarter. To make matters worse, it ran my record of seeing the Broncos live to a disgusting 1-11.
We had that game won. Half the damn stadium started to empty out with Giant fans with 6 minutes remaining. Nicky and I were dancing a jig with just a couple minutes left. All of a sudden, Elam misses a 44 yarder and the Giants march down the field with a winning TD with 5 seconds left.
That was a heart crushing loss.

He will be 5 in May. The irony of that game was that, in 1986, My Dad took me to my very first Broncos game. That game happened to be at the Meadowlands and the Broncos opponent were the very same New York Giants.
I thought it would be very sentimental to take my son to his first Broncos game in the same exact location against the same opponent almost 19 years to the day I saw my first game.
Unfortunately, both games had a similar outcome. A Broncos loss on virtually the last play of the game.

Two TD's and two 2 pt. conversions would have tied the score....so either way they would have been only two scores down Blueflame.

WTF? The odds of them converting two two point conversions is 15%.You can argue that each attempt is seperate...it's like a dice roll...you can roll snake eyes, and the odds of rolling snake eyes is exactly the same every roll, even if you roll them ten times in a rolw.
It's an odd thing about odds. if each event is independent, the odds are the same each time. Still...we get up 16 that game is iced IMO. Not only that, it wouldn't of won the game even if they had the luck to convert two two point conversions, It just would of tied.

KC. I figured the giants as a loss before the season started. Eli hit the two soph wall, and cost us with the skins no1 pick, but the giants have the best team in that div, imo. Sweeping the chorfs would have been very nice, and Den should have won the game. Mia .... I dunno. Before the season started I thought maybe Den would have a shot, but thing was they had a new coach, first game, cedric was in the best shape he'll be in ever, Gus can get hot, and overall their talent wasn't as bad as last year's record.
The K.C. loss hurts the most because we lost to the Chiefs. I don't like the fish and I don't like the Giants, but I hate the Chiefs. How sweet would it have been to go into K.C. and put the nail in the coffin in their own backyard.

actually being serious and all.the giants game hands down because i dont count playing in that brutal heat and humidity and also first game of year.the kc game was just a shootout and poor playcalling by shanny by trying to throw for 300 yards instead of running and controlling clock.but the giants game hurt so bad because it happened so late on last play where if the pass falls incomplete then we probably win.giving up a 13 pt lead in 4th hurts.just be thankful you are not a dallas fan asking that question.the losses to washington and seattle at end would be enough for me to put my foot thru the tv set.
