So, what does Carroll do and can you see him being tempted by another chance to prove himself in the NFL in the next 12 months?

He was a "failure" in New England and with the Jets and has recently revived one of the most popular college programs in the nation, lives in LA and has a job security most NFL coaches can only dream of. Heīs always struck me as a guy thatīs more suited to coaching College kids rather than 24-year old millionaires. The only way at USC for 1 or 2 years probably is down but we all know the truly hard thing isnīt building a team, but rather keeping a team up, so he has the chance to prove himself as a truly great coach if he stays and keeps the Trojans up. I know what he said 2 weeks ago ("I wonīt interview for any job outside of USC this year") and for me heīd be an idiot to quit USC now, but thereīs rumors he made those statements to test the water and has sent his feelers out if thereīs an NFL team thatīs willing to give him full control and a contract in the region of about $ 5-6m per year. And the true problem might be this: Right now at USC heīs getting paid something like $ 1.2-1.5m, which is a pretty low salary compared to other top College coaches like Mack Brown or Bob Stoops. I canīt see USC not giving him a pay rise, but you never know.

Like a moth to a flame Carroll will take yet another stab at the NFL.

The qualities that make the Poodle a successful college coach are the same things that work against him in the Pros. I think he is smart enough to stay in the perfect situation for him. With the Patriots he slowly lost the respect of the players and his record got worse every year. Keep the rah rah stuff in college. (for those who don't know his nickname in New England was in reference to his salt and pepper curly hairdoo and his spunky personality)

I think he has probably the best job in the country right now, but if he wanted to hit the NFL you pride's sake again, more power to him. There are a bunch of coaches who failed at their first pro HC gig and then bounced back. Belichek is probably the best example because of his current success, Carroll could be more successful next time through.

Well, if he did, he would be carrying alot more respect with him this go around...

That said, I can't see any reason why he would ever want to leave USC. He is in HIS ELEMENT. He looks to be loving it, and has been very, very successful. I think would a mistake. I really hope he stays at USC. Hell, he's half the reason I really enjoy watching USC. He makes that a fun team to watch!!

I agree, spurrier as much as I hate the guy has to be one of the best college coaches of all time and he was horrible in the pro's. I think carroll should stay right were he is. He just needs to work him out a pay raise for himself. He needs to do it quick to before they lose to TEXAS.

USC's alum has very deep pockets, I would hope money would not be a factor. I hope he stays.

He has a great situation that is really suited to his abilities. It's much less of a grind than the NFL and his rah rah personality works with the kids. I think he may get lured back to the NFL someday, but he will be very choosy. Some think that if LA ever gets an expansion team that he might be tempted by something like that.
