Who else watched this? I thoroughly enjoyed it! He's a good guy - you can't put a tangible value on what he must bring to the locker room.
For those who didn't see it - sorry to say that you missed out. A few fun facts, off the top of my head:
-His wife has written him a letter before every game he has played since the first preseason game of his rookie season. He reads the letters in the locker room before the game. He said his Bucs teammates used to give him crap about it.
-He met his wife in high school. She was a tennis player at Stanford, and she is older than him.
-He has a killer sports memorabilia collection. He basically had it boxed up until he moved to Denver, because Tampa doesn't really have basements.
-He was a QB at Stanford up to his junior year, at which time he left to play baseball. Bill Walsh talked him into going back and finishing his career at Stanford, where he played safety.
-He threw the first pitch in Florida Marlins franchise history (in the minor leagues - probably rookie ball). He said, if he remembers correctly, that the first seven pitches he threw were balls.

That was definitely a cool show and made me like Lynch even more. He must've had some game if he was a QB at Stanford, especially under Bill Walsh.

It was very revealing to see Larry Coyer and Lynch Comment on the gameplan versus BUF. They knew about the hard count from Holcomb and the Dumbasses still were listening to it instead of watching the ball. They knew that Holcomb would come out throwing to Moulds and they failed to cover his ass. They knew the formations that they would use to throw the ball deep and played some weak ass zone again from a man coverage look this week. They prevented deep balls, but sucked in route recognition across the intermediate routes. New wrinkle, poor execution in zone AGAIN. They need to eliminate the zone, it is killing them.
It was even more telling to listen to Lynch talk about execution being the most important part of playing at this time of year and that scheme is no longer a problem. Then, on the sidelines, Lynch tells the team to freakin tackle since guys are in position to make plays and they are simply not doing it.
Really some good insight into gameplanning and execution. The Broncos gameplanned well and executed poorly for most of that game. I hope they freakin listen this week and execute. I for one would love to see the Raiders get dominated in every phase of the game since Denver needs to start peaking and not surviving at this point of the year.

Man that guy gets enough TV time. I dont care about his family, Im sure they are real good people, but god dammit I wanted to see more indepth discussion about Broncos ball and practices and see more from the rest of the team.
Highly disappointed.

Cool show.
In 1998, I sat next to he and his babe wife on a plane ride back from Tampa. I was down there for a Sales Meeting and he and his wife were heading up to New York on their bye week.
They had just beaten the Giants a few days before and he was doing a Manhattan trip for the first time. I spoke with him briefly, and he was very cool and down to earth.
He also told me he loved the old Broncos orange jersies, which gave him an extra check mark in my book.

Surprise about the "hate" on this one. Lynch has clearly come in and become a leader on this team. He is much part of the Bronco family as any player in the Free Agent era, include draft picks. Beside Lynch is well know nationally and the NFL network is about ratings.

Wht Im saying is Lynch is not a Bronco. He just plays for us right now. His legacy is a Buc, and he will ALWAYS be remembered as a Buc.
Its like Tony Dorsett. Dorsett was a Cowboy, and no one considers him a Bronco.
Why not focus on a Bronco. Someone that is going to be remembered as a Bronco. Someone like Al Wilson or Trevor Pryce or Rod Smith.
Rod would have been an awesome choice.
Instead they go with Lynch because he is the most famous.
Typically, they showed more highlights of Lynch than the actual team. And a lot of those highlights were from Tampa.
Fantastic.

It all about name recognition, Lynch will be on national TV after he done, and the NFL network knows that. Beside wouldn't be surprise the broncos are featured again in the playoffs, since Bowlen and Shanahan are very media savory

These are good points.
However, Rod would probably have refused. Al and Trevor would have been good choices as well.
They actually were pretty candid with the film analysis IMHO. That is not the kind of thing the public gets to see quite often.
Another point, the muscle therapist segment really spoke to the forward thinking of the organization to keep the players ready to play. Now, if they would just hire a competent Sports Psychologist they would really take some huge steps mentally. Unfortuantely, Shanahan does not like to leave the door open for criticism of his style and methods of running things. This would probably be too much for him to handle even though it would provide an excellent check and balance for his decisions regarding players and motivation.

I doubt Rod would have agreed to do this, as it would be "cutting into my study time".
LOL, I loved that quote from this past week.
I thought the piece was well done, and pretty much what I expected. It was a perspective from a player leading going through a game week and they told us beforehand it would be Lynch.
I don't see how anyone could be upset or disappointed.
Would Rod or Al have been better? Yup. But as I said, I doubt Rod would do it because, well...I think he hates all media. Al might not have done it either. And John is pretty much our spokesman for the NFL network. He's a logical choice.
And, well.....his wife's hot :D

I liked Lynch getting pissed and getting on the line for falling for the hard count and jumping offsides. He also said that now is the time to execute and play clean (error-free) football. It's all about the basics like tackling, and less about gameplanning at this point.

Tony Dorsett is not a good comparision to Lynch. Lynch's situation is not O.J. Simpson in a 49er uni, Franco Harris as a Seahawk or Johnny Unitas as a Lightning Bolt. Lynch can actually still play; those other guys were past their days.
I compare Lynch's situation to Mike Ditka and Lance Alworth. Both had great careers in other places, but they were key contributors to helping the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl in 1971. Both scored touchdowns in Super Bowl VI.
Unlike baseball, Pro Football Hall of Famers don't get inducted with a "team of choice".
Last, Lynch's grandmother is a lifelong, diehard Broncos fan who lives in Colorado. Her influence played a huge influence in Lynch going to Denver. Lynch has always been appreciative of the Broncos tradition and history. I don't think he considers Denver as his "second love".

Are you going to remember Rice as a 9er, Raider, Seahawk or Bronco?
Whatever he considers himself is irrelevant, even though I think his heart still lies in Tampa. Its what people will remember him as, and they will not remember him as a Bronco. He had 1 good year here and this year he has had a decent year, but nothing to write home about. Next year will probably be his last, that is if he returns.
His best days were in Tampa, most of the country outside of Denver will remember him best from Tampa.
I remember Rice as a Seahawk and even a Raider, but he was always a 49er to me.
And while players may not be inducted as you say into the HoF for a chosen team, why is it consistently mentioned only "One Bronco" is in the Hall of Fame? Or that the Cowboys only have 5?
When John Lynch goes to the Hall of Fame, most of the clips they show of him will be in Tampa. Tampa will be claiming him as their Hall of Famer and Denver will, like other times, claim him as a secondary member - "Well, he played for us a couple of years at the twilight of his career!"
Lynch is a Buc playing in a Bronco uniform. I do not begrudge him his Buc status, and Im grateful the guy is on our team because he is a standout leader and everytime I see him in anything, that shines through and hell I want to follow him into battle. But he isnt a franchise guy. That was my only beef with the whole show and the whole reason I brought this up. One of our franchise guys should have been the focus IMO. That's all Im saying.
