maybe because the base price for purchasing that car is cheap... then you have money to mod it to your desire. A Chevy Impala SS isnt "avg."

Get one of those emergency packs for your car...there is a dual flasher you can set on your dash...effectively clears rush hour traffic...
It's his money, but it sure seems like a waste when Rod Smith is a squrrell hiding acorns...
The kid has spunk, I'll give him that, amazing what that small change second round money can buy...I would of tricked out a '66 Impala SS myself...those gull wing doors had to cost ten grand by themselves...
Look, the kid probably grew up chasing rabbits for dinner...thus his speed...I just hope he doesn't kill himself in it if he's got nitrous....full out you never know when that will blow the motor...which obviously could make the car squirly....oh well...I just don't want a accident like that Ex-Raider...dunno why, I can't think of his name right now...let's keep it under the radar Darrent...
The problem with a car like that is your just inviting trouble...a cop sees you and thinks two or more things...1. Drug Dealer 2. Rich Punk needs a lesson...in other words, penis envy....his car is faster than me...3. That 10,000 watt stereo is breaking windows in the hood....
In this day and time, it's not the 60's or 70's....I prefer to fly under the radar these days....that car me no likey...not because it's ugly as a pimpled butt, but because it's an invitation to cops...

Back in 1994 my patrol car, a 1993 Caprice, broke down so the shop lent me an Impala as a loaner til my car got fixed. holy cow, the power of that Impala! You barely hit the accelerator and the car takes off like a rocket. I think it had a corvette engine installed? Maybe it was just the police interceptor model I dunno. I didn't want to give it back. It was like going back to a pinto! I've been looking for one since to buy but they're hard to come by these days. I guess only a limited number were made.

We still have this widowmaker in restoration....exact car down to the landau top...green...375 HP and no, you couldn't get at Ben Franklin off the dash with that Hurst unless you reached between shifts...
I just wish I could find that 66 SS Impala...it's probably wrecked or crushed by now....or on blocks...
After my brother outran 13 cop cars in his Smokey and the Bandit escapade, it was garaged, but the motor was never the same...So he put in a quick shift auto and a 482 Corvette engine that was banned by the EPA...the tranny could never hold that much torque...It's only partially restored...problem is...cops still hate that damn car...it's like they are Jackie Gleason...
"You rascal...I'm going to get you yet...Shut up Junior..." You might think I'm bragging, but that car has legendary status....you can't say marked car any clearer...30 years later and they still hate it...

The actual Impala SS is actually quite a bit slower than a 9C1 (Caprice SS in Canada) fleet car. The Impala is a much heavier car than a 9C1 with the leather interior and all. Both came standard with the LT1 (same as my Z28 but iron heads) both standard with the heavy duty oil cooler, tranny cooler, hoses, gatorback belts, Bilstein suspension, etc....
But the weight of the Impala SS propels it in the upper 14's 1/4 - my cousin's Caprice, with a set of drag radials only, went 13.80 I believe - mainly due to the weight difference.
You can check out pics of his car - way back when it was in service, and now - at his cardomain site.

430 horses to the rear wheels - 475 lb of torque - covers the 1/4 in 11.46 seconds at a 'slow' 122 mph
I doubt any of them could pilot this - may sound easy for people but I scoff at them. Most individuals haven't driven a car that puts 240 horses to the ground. A car rated at a whopping 275hp from the factory only puts, on average, 230 of those to the ground - good for a high 13-low 14 second timeslip at 99mph.
Big difference between driving that and driving a car that will obliterate a set of BFG Drag Radials @ 50mph rolling down the freeway.

LOL - it's actually not that hard - the car drives straight, it's the intial launch that will catch you, it's pretty violent and if you don't manhandle the wheel it's easy to cross the line into the other lane - after the first 60' or so the car settles in and it's like driving down the freeway
Just a lot faster
