If the playoffs were to start today: http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/playoffrace/bracket
There is no way the Colts want to play the Patriots.
We'd probably get the Bengals at Invesco. Cold. Hostile. Young team.
How sweet would it be to get the AFC Championship at home?

The Colts could end up playing either the Pats or Chargers. I'm sure they would rather play the Broncos.

It would be so awesome to host the Patriots for the AFC Championship...
Anybody want to host the Jaguars?

THe Jags will be the worst team in the playoffs. They would lose at home to the Chiefs.

They were the worst team in the playoffs when they beat us at home...

But no one was expecting that. And when we got them the next time in the playoffs we destroyed them.
I think Shanahan better be prepared. After all we did beat them at home earlier this year.

I'd take another three-year playoff run similar to the one that game started, though.

I don't think those brackets are right. The sixth seed you be in the number 1 bracket.

The Brackets are right.
AFTER the one and two seeds get their bye , SIXplays the division winner with the best record of the teams that are in , or the Three seed. And five plays four.
It would be great to get the Two seed because of that...One less game to play to get to the show.
However...If NE wins, and Pitt beats the Bengals, we get the Patriots and the Colts get the Steelers.
Colts only get the Patriots if the Bengals win THEIR game.
No matter what, we NEED to win out to ensure that BYE and the Home field for at least the first game. ( divisional round). After that the AFC championship is where we get to. Home or away...its a step along the way.:charge:

But the Bengals would have to win a Wild Card game, too . . . against maybe San Diego. We saw yesterday how good SD is on the road. So who knows?
I guess that link says the Steelers - but they're almost as tough.

The best scenario for us is to get the #2 seed, hope NE and Cincy advance and NE beats Indy. That way we host Cincy and then NE. IMO that's the best hope of hosting the AFC Championship. I don't see Pitt, SD, or Jacksonville being able to beat Indy in the playoffs. I think Indy would whip SD in a rematch. Cincy is not a great first round opponent for us but, in the big picture, it could work out the best for us.

I agree with the Jags being the worst team in the AFC playoffs (if they were to start today)....
They are clearly the weakest OFFENSIVELY, and I don't think they could keep up with the other teams.
Also, don't count Pittsburgh out......they could easily beat Cincy in Cincy....they split on the year, with the visiting team winning both times.
Pittsburgh could beat them....and we would face New England in the divisional round.

I agree that's very possible. That would not be good for us IMO bc I don't think Pittsburgh matches up well with Indy. I want them to have to beat NE again before they get to us.

Either Denver is good enough to beat anybody anywhere or they're not. Supposedly they've been built to do that every year. At this point I don't want or care to have someone else do their jobs for them. To be the best
blah blah blah........

That sounds good but is unrealistic. Home field and matchups have a lot to do with success in the playoffs. Hell, it has a lot to do with the regular season too. Not that teams can't go on the road and win but it's a lot easier to get through the playoffs at home. That's why home field is so important and why the bye week is important. Also, certain teams simply match up better with some teams than others. I don't really want to play Indy on their roller rink if we can avoid it. I'd much prefer NE at home. Just my opinion. We do match up better with Indy than we did the last two years (if D-Will is healthy) but I'd still rather not, thank you.

Not to switch gears mid thread, but does anyone else think anyone except Seattle representing the NFC is a travesty?

If the bears can get some decent qb play out of Grossman, then they are a very scary team. I think the Giants are legit because they can score on anybody. It's going to be very interesting over the next 2 weeks in both conferances.

But the worst plays the first...techinically you can't make a bracket until after the wildcard round.

For example...if the 6th seed beats the 3rd seed...the 6th seed does not adavnce to play the 2nd seed....they would automatically go to play the 1st seed. Ergo...the brackets in the link from **** hole CBS sportsline defy all sports bracket logic.
