View Full Version : Terrell Davis and Rod Woodson are gonna have a fistfight any day . . .

They've been at each others' throats the past week on that NFL Network set . . . interrupting, arguing - talking over one another - for lengthy periods - 10-plus seconds of both talking loudly at the same time. They're arguing so openly, that TD's right arm comes up into the camera's line of sight to Woodson's face, and Woodson lifts his left arm to slightly push TD's arm back.
Friday and today have been especially ugly. It's not the TOPIC that they're really fighting about (the topic was Kyle Orton vs. Rex Grossman, and I don't even know who's on what side). The problem is that Woodson has been openly hostile toward TD - personally - for a long time. And he's been overtly disrespecting TD recently. Always the dig - the dig - the dig. They were all talking and joking on the set about a month ago, and TD said something like "I don't want to lead us down THAT road..." Rich Eisen laughed and started to read a new story . . . but Woodson snuck in: "YOU couldn't lead us anywhere."
Last week on Thanksgiving is got worse. When Dayne popped off 98 yards plus the 55-yard OT winner, Woodson was relentless. Td wasn't there that day, and Woodson was chirping behing Eisen's play-by-play, "Sys-tem! Sys-tem!" Then the panel talked about the Denver system, Woodson was very opinionated and mocking toward TD. Lincoln Kennedy agreed that the system was important, but he said TD was special and wouldda been a star anywhere. Eisen said TD was in that "very special club." Woodson said something like "I know, I know, he's one of just five in that club, and that's all fine and good. But it's a system, and he was a system back."
Notice he said "five"? It's only FOUR, of course.
TD has always been too nice and non-confrontational to defend himself aggressively - until this week. I think maybe Woodson's competitive nature has him feeling "punked" a little as the junior man on the show (although I guess Emmitt is junior). Anyway, he 'smells blood' or something.

All TD has to do is remind Woodson what team he ran over on his way to his first lombardi trophy. That should do it.

Woodson has been doing that with everyone lately. I saw one the other day with Sterling Sharpe that was just downright uncomfortable to watch. Sharpe was on via satellite, and was a lot more patient than he could have been.

I didn't see that . . . maybe, and I'm not totally kidding here because Rod has been disruptive and confrontational . . . maybe we have the beginning of another Michael Irvin story?
Maybe not drugs, pre se, but he does seem to be quite difficult.
I'm sure teh NFL network is loving the ratings boost this if giving them. Next thing they do is have a pay per view. Davis vs Woodson ! Two men enter only one will survive.
On a side note. Woodson wasn't Mr. Friendly in the Burgh ether. He often refused autograph lookers and if it didn't have something to to with his resturaunt, which sucked, he didn't do much in the way of public appearances.

Lived in Pittsburgh long enough to learn which players were ok, which ones were ****. No one liked Woodson, and they tolerated him because he was a probowl db. Only reason, and no other.

heh, yea. Lets see, TD and John both got their rings with the same ballclub yet Woodson had to jump from team to team before getting his ring. I used to like Woodson but if this is how he is behaving to a class act like TD than **** that prick.
Woodson is a prick. Smug SOB.

What was the classic line Patrick Roy got off a while back? I don't follow hockey really, but if I remember correctly, he and some other dude disliked each other, and it pretty much ended when Roy said something along the lines of "I can't hear you, I have these two championship rings in my ears."
TD needs to bust out with that.

Let's face it....Raiders and Broncos can't get along...even after their playing days..Rod is a Raider as far as I'm concerned...not a Steeler or a Raven but a Raider....I say this because he defends the Raiders more than any other team.
TD is up against two of them in Lincoln and Woodson....I'm just glad Emmitt Smith is there...him and TD get along well.....two great runningbacks
I have certainly lost some respect for Woodson....

I also noticed this. Rod Woodson is always egging TD and seems to always want the last word. TD is too much of a gentleman to respond in like to Rod Woodson. Surprisingly, Lincoln Kennedy has been a pleasant surprise as an analyst.

Patrick was talking about Jeremy Roenik of the Blackhawks. The Quote was "I can't hear Jeremy because I have my two Stanley Cup Rings plugging my ears."
(Too bad I can't type in a French Canadian accent.)
Woodson is just an ass. raven and raider, what do you expect.

Kennedy is the best thing about NFL network. He smacked someone who hit him with a snowball silly at Invesco a few years ago, so Rod better not cross a certain line.
Kennedy is frigging huge. It reminds me of what Connie Dobler used to say about Dierdorf: "100 years from now, they'll dig him up and wonder what he was."

He could start with the league MVP to set the tone, and then follow nicely with the rushing title and cap it off with the display of the superbowl MVP.

You're so correct (except it was at old Mile High). That incident exposed one of my own biggest pre-judments and stereotypes. When that snowball thing happened and he went into the old Mile High stands, screaming like a violent out-of-control jock, I remember thinking, "big, dumb, stupid lineman - probably on steroids. A name like Lincoln Kennedy must be from the housing projects - makes it out with athletic skills, but I'll bet he never passed a class on his own while he was a 'student athlete.'"
Needless to say, when he turned up on NFL Network, I ate my share of crow - self-administered though it was. Now I don't decide so quick about people. For all I know, Jeb Putzier reads the The New Yorker magazine and visits European museums on vacation ???

My point is that Fattie B never did get injured, and he had 10 of the most productive seasons EVER in the history of the NFL.
He's a bad joke now but his career is one of accomplishment.

When the snowball thing happened, I remember thinking, "Good. Some gutless sonofabitch threw a snowball from what he thought was the safety and anonymity of the stands. He sure didn't expect Lincoln Kennedy to come up there and beat his cowardly ass."
BTW, my rules on throwing things from the stands are somewhat flexible.
Props to the guy who nearly blinded Dale Carter.
Also, the half a dozen Bronco fans who pasted Phillip Buchanan with beer and soda when he celebrated a 25 yard punt return down 31-10 on MNF.

I never bought the Bettis as a lock for HOF. When ever someone bring his name up I ask the following questions: was he every consider the best RB during his play era? Did he ever win the MVP(regular/Superbowl), ever lead the league in rushing? Consider the best RB in league even given season? Was he the reason that his team went to Playoffs? Falling forward 3 yards and staying healthy doesn't make you a HOFer.
The running back ahead of him from this era are: Emmit Smith, TD, Curtis Martin, Marshall Faulk, LT, Priest Homes. Bettis is behind the guys

Everybody has a short memory these days it seems. Bettis hasn't done much for me lately, so screw him I guess.
During the 90's this guy was awesome, lest you want to credit the offense the Steelers managed to Kordell. He is definetely a hall of famer, and IMO, a better candidate than either Priest or Marshall(Assuming neither have another great season ahead of them).
