View Full Version : Cincy and Denver

Kind of weird when you look at the similarities of our remaining schedules.....
1. Both teams are 9-3 fighting for the #2 seed and a bye.....
2. Both teams next 3 games are against teams that are all currently 4-8....and the home and away venue is the same. (Denver: Baltimore, @ Buff, Oakland......Cincy: Cleveland, @ Detroit, Buffalo)
3. Both teams final game is a road game against an 8-4 AFC West team (Denver: @ SD........Cincy: @ KC)
I guess I bring this up again to scratch my head at those who seem to think that if we win our next 3 that the last game won't mean much......I see Cincy winning their next 3 as well........and when you consider that we pay SD on a SATURDAY....that doesn't give us the benefit of knowing what the result of the Cincy/KC game is....

Win out, what cinci does doesnt matter. If denver and cinci end up with the same record, cinci still gets 3 seed.

I absolutely agree. I think we need to go 4-0 to get the #2 seed now. 3-1 gets us the division in all probabilty but that's it. We need to be able to win games like the SD game on the road anyway if we are an elite team.

If it has no meaning for them they will lay down like dogs if it costs us the #2 seed. Plus, we play on Sat so we can't rely on that anyway - not that we should.

Playing in KC in Jan is not the same as SD in Jan. KC will probably have a long shot to get in to the playoffs if Denver beats SD the day before.
Otherwise, the next three weeks will be important to win since the Tie breaker is conference games and they play two of three versus NFC and Denver plays all AFC opponents from here on out. The best part of it is if they are tied it goes to strength of Victory in which Denver will clearly have an advantage being 20 wins up playing teams with the exact same record!

there is always the let down factor
just like if we would've beat KC in KC last week, I'd say Bmore would probably give us a very good game and probably beat us b/c of the let down factor
Cinccy won against a team they haven't beat in a million years, there will be a let-down, it's only natural, the Cinncy team isn't mature enough not to have a let down

It's going to be tough if it comes down to the last game of the season. We play on Saturday, so we'll have to go into San Diego to win if we are still even at that point.
I don't like our chances on the road against high scoring teams. Especially if San Diego is still in it at that point, which they probably will be, while the Cheaps will be out. Just my guessing...

it might be bad
but if KC still has something to play for, they play unreal in the regular season at home late in the year
but if they lose to the Cowboys and Giants, then the point might be moot, they know dick4meal is going to retire so they might not have much to play for
so who knows
but I still think Cinncy will lose to someone they aren't suppose to based on the immaturity of their team......let downs are a bitch in the NFL after huge wins

I would prefer to play the Bengals in denver then go to INDI and play the colts there. However, that is weeks away, and we have the ravens this week. Also, if there was no way playoff seeding could be affecting by a cinci win in KC, then yes, i want the bengals to beat the chiefs.

This time of the year is all ****ed up.
Normally my MO would be to root hard for the Cowboys this Sunday, but that could very well be the wrong thing.
We will likely need the Chiefs to play balls out against Cincinnati on New Years Day. If it gets down to New Years Day and Vermeil is out of it, he may easily field a team of scrubs, and Arrowhead will not be nearly as loud.
With KC's brutal schedule the next three weeks, I fear their last game will be meaningless and that would suck for us.

There's so many games that matter between now and week 17.
This is how I see it prior to week 17:
KC loses next 3, away Dallas, away NYG and home to SD
SD wins against Miami. loses to Colts, beats KC
DEN beats Ravens, Bills and Raiders
JAGS beat Colts, 49ers and Houston
CINCY win their next 3.
PITT lose at home to Bears, lose at Minn, so they're out of it then.
Thus going into the game in SD, Denver and Cincy are the only teams with anything to play for, the Chargers will rest their starters for their Wild Card game as they already have the 6th seed locked up and cannot advance to 5th.

KC does not lose 3 in a row

Just my opinion here.....but Johnson didn't "abuse" Champ last year.....I've pointed the following out several times on the ESPN board....
#1. One of Johnson's 50+ yard receptions was a BLATANT, yes BLATANT offensive pass interference.....even Madden and Michaels both said that it CLEARLY should have been called.
#2. The other 50+ yard reception....yes, Champ tripped. But did you notice that the ball was severely underthrown.....if Champ had stayed on his feet, he probably would have had a pick.
Take away those 2 "abnormal" plays, and Chad Johnson had a 50 yard, ho-hum performance. Hardly "abuse"......
Besides, this time it will hopefully be in Denver........Nope, Cincy doesn't scare me.

No they would not. Division record is only applicable for determining the division winner not as a tiebreaker for seeding. Both would have the same record but the first tie breaker is conference record and Denver lost an out of conference game Cinci would have lost four conference games. The next tie breaker is common opponents and both would be 2-1.

Yep, and then it goes to strength of victory in which the broncos Lead by a large margin with the same records for both teams schedules down the stretch. Which means they have to hope for Denver to stumble and win with an outright better record.

Oh I agree with ya Jake. Consider:
SD -Miami, @ Indy, @ KC, Den.....The Chargers will lose at least one of those games. I really don't consider them a major threat based on that brutal schedule at this point.
KC -@ Dallas, @ NYG, SD, Cinn - Again, I just don't see the Chiefs not dropping at least a game with the four they have left.
CINN - Clev, @ Det, Buffalo, @ KC - The Brat Pack having this easy a stretch schedule is a mild concern to me if Denver drops a game, although KC could beat them...but it's not something to really sweat unless our Boys drop one they shouldn't.
Having Cinncy go to Denver in the post season would be nice....having our Boys slap them around there would almost make my year.....almost. I sense a lot of fondness for Cinncy on this board, I'm not in that camp. I have little love for growing potential threats to where this team needs to go.

he played a sequence of tequila> silvio (dylan song)> tequila >silvio > tequila that was amazing.
reverted back to tequila after each verse of silvio and made the transitions flawlessly. very impressive.
Silvio eh? Hmmm.....well, I've never been a fan of Weir, but to each their own. Glad you liked the show.

i know youre not, but i was thinking even you would appreciate the creativity there.
plus, he's playing really smooth rythm guitar, and he has a young energetic band around him.
i think you'd be surprised.
its a grateful dead STYLE show, but its MUCH more upbeat.

I dont see Cinci as a threat...yet. Year or 2 away, their defense is not anywhere close to were Lewis wants it to be.

Defense isnt all that big a deal when you score 30+ points a game.

It's not their D that worries me.

If their defense, say, meets a team with a dominant run game, in a hostile environment, the cinci offense will not see the field all that much.

That's pretty cool - very observant. I have that same sickness. ^5

Another myth crushed.
not exactly... look closer, only 2 decisive victories, 2 losses, and the rest were dogfights and unless you watched the games you wouldn't know exactly how tough they were
