The U.S. is at great risk for more terrorist attacks because Congress and the White House have failed to enact several strong security measures, members of the former Sept. 11 commission said Sunday.
"It's not a priority for the government right now," said the former chairman, Thomas Kean, ahead of the group's release of a report Monday assessing how well its recommendations have been followed.
"More than four years after 9/11 ... people are not paying attention," the former Republican governor of New Jersey said. "God help us if we have another attack."

Gee, when even Fux News is reporting it, you know things are lookin' bad.
Imagine - a huge government bureaucracy wasting taxpayers dollars and not delivering on its intended purpose.
That's never happened before!

Wow.. that completely excuses it.
Thanks so much for your clarification. Past incompetence (you know, the type that sees planes flying into buildlings) justifies future incompetence I guess.

No, just that expecting anything other than incompetence from the government, especially the federal government, especially from as big a bureaucracy as the DHS, is just pure nativete.
If anyone is honestly surprised, or dismayed, by the utter failure of the DHS to do it's job, then, well, welcome to the real world.

I look at it like my telephone company... people have been rolling over for the utilities for decades. Install a phone.. be there sometime between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (maybe).
We took it because we thought we had no other choice... At some point we finally decided enough was enough and forced deregulation (in many states anyways) and now when Verizon told me it was going to take 3 weeks to bury the line they had stuck out back, I simply went to another company and got a much better deal.
Same principle applies.. as long as Americans are willing to except bad results they'll get bad results. I for one, am tired of it and will continue to hold my representatives responsible in every way I possibly can.

That's The O'W*GS Factor's official job description on this forum: Excuse this administration for every last one of its frauds, felonies, and failures (usually by changing the subject to Clinton's zipper, etc.)

Geez, last time I checked there were almost 300 Dems in Congress. I guess they bear no guilt???
The report stated that it was politics as usual on the hill by both parties. Its not just 'W' and his crew playing the game.
Such silliness and blind party patronage on both sides of the aisle will ruin us.

Um, last I checked, the Dems were the minority party and the GOP controlled all three branches of government.

What's really funny is the way right-wing Kool-Aid chuggers have touted Bush's alleged ability to "keep America safe" as his greatest strength - yet we now have proof that this administration hasn't done jack sh_t on that front.

Tom Kean, the Republican chairman of the committee, told NBC's "Meet the Press" that enacting the changes is "not a priority for the government right now.
"A lot of the things we need to do really to prevent another 9/11 just simply aren't being done by the president or by the Congress."

:bs:
This blather by LABF is a lie in two ways... Not only do I not do as he claims, he's also claimed to have me on iggy - which this piffle clearly shows is false.
LABF, you truly have no shame. IRL, you'd be laughed out of the room.

Well, geez, following that logic, the GOP should have NEVER been able to push any policy at any time in the 60s and most of the 70s...
If blind adherance to your party and its policies helps you sleep at night, then drink up.

"Pushing" policy is one thing - getting policy enacted is another.
The GOP has had control of all three branches of government since 2002.
There is simply no way to excuse the GOP-controlled congress and Bush for this one.
If blind adherance to your party and its policies helps you sleep at night, then drink up.
The Dems have been out of power for the past four years - yet you attempt to blame them for Bush's and the GOP-controlled congress' failure to make counterterrorism a priority?
I'd say you are the one who is imbibing the Kool-Aid here.
