so am i ... tough sh!t with the espn/nasn deal, eh?

Sure is!

I know i'd be mighty miffed if i'd paid £10.99 a month (whats that, $20?) to get it, and you STILL don't get live games like NASN Europe. All NASN UK gets now is NBA, NHL and some NFL network shows (the majority of which are available online anyway!)

Still, luckily i get every bronco game

Jens1893

you might wanna give me the link to the nfl network stuff. :)

i have nasn europe and we“re kinda lucky as the contract the nfl had with premiere, german equivalent of sky, ran out during the summer and premiere played hardball when they negotiated the new contract. so the nfl said fcuk that and gave the rights to nasn. especially as now premiere has bought a sub licence from nasn and when you subscribe to both channels, like i do, you actually have a chance between 2 early and late games. i wouldve killed for the college football coverage nasn uk used to have ....

Maybe you should buy a radio. Then you could listen to the game and imagine what it looks like.

I post over on the NFLUK boards, and there is a mass exodus of NASN subscribers at the moment. There isn't a huge following, but there are a growing core who do and are unbelievably pissed at NASN - although neither NASN nor ESPN will say why the deal has been pulled.

Some say it's ESPN (Disney) trying to screw every last penny out of a company - others say NASN are the cheapskates.....i'm likely to believe the former.

Here's a link on the NASN Website:

Ah yeah... DirecTV is a godsend! I live in rural Oregon and so I get stuck with weird games on regular TV. It used to be the Sea Chickens when they were in AFC West but now that they are in the NFC that is not so much an issue. But still I love Sunday Ticket because now I get the Broncos every weekend without fail. Get it! So worth it!

Plus it is a great service anyway over any other cable etc. I also have Tivo so I delay the Broncos game about 30 mins and then zip through the idiotic commercial saturation that has become the NFL broadcast.

Bar versus DirecTV

Cost based on 1 beer per quarter, regular season only:
DirecTV $170 cover + 4($0.50 beer) = $202
BAR $0 cover, 4($3 beer) = $192

Seating & Viewing:
DirecTV cushy armchair, big screen, one game at a time
Bar stool, small TV with no audio (unless it's the big game), every single game is on all around you.

Social experience:
DirecTV your laptop next to you with the Orangemane chat room open.
Bar Your local group of Broncos fans (we're everywhere by the way) cheering and laughing at the KC fans.

There are tradeoffs, but I prefer bars. Especially because during timeouts, or boring instant replays, I can just turn my head and watch another game.

With Sunday Ticket, you can just flick the remote and watch another game. You don't even have to turn your head.

You also left out the price of food at the bar (and tips). Pretty hard to sit in a bar for 4+ hrs on a Sunday afternoon with people eating all around you and NOT order something. That's where the real cost difference comes into play.

Hey, I gotta buy booze at home too. However, I am able to multi-task with DTV. I can lift in the first half, and clean toilets and iron while drinking in the second half. Sometimes I grill burgers and watch through the windows.

But seriously, since my Father in Law passed away, I'd really rather just take the 3.5 hours a week to a sports bar. Even with the Mane, being home is sorta lonely. Little Girl Dog says she likes the games, but I think she's just being nice.

I love whorederves...ESPECIALLY at Hooters. I just have to wear a bib. You have to practice safe eating these days...hmmm...

I take it for granted that I can go to a bar with Sunday Ticket BECAUSE I'm single. Sometimes, I don't think about the unfortunate people out there...;D
