I'm suprised you have the cognitive ability to do so based on his claim that eating fish rots your brain.

"FRIEDRICH: Tucker, fish feel pain in the same way as dogs and cats. Impaling them on hook supports cruelty to animals, and it's not justifiable. Additionally, eating fish rots your brain. The Environmental Protection Agency says that if you eat fish as few as two times..."
I've done a little research on this and in fact, their have been extensive studies in the Seychelles, the Faroes, and in Minimata Bay Japan. Mercury is definately a problem and you should be aware of your fish consumption, but there isnt any evidence that Mercury "rots the brain"...it mainly attacks ganglion in the extremeties. This guy is an uninformed fool.

yeah, carlson is.
I'm pretty leery of anything "fresh caught," unless it's fresh water and up near head waters. I sometimes get blast frozen stuff that's just too tasty to pass up. Sushi grade and frozen within minutes of catch. But mostly I just eat farm raised salmon, catfish and talapia.
How much pain do the hooks cause?

I remember learning that a fish only has memory for 40 seconds at a time

So if I take the hook out and let them flop around for 45 seconds before banging their head with a hammer they won't have any recollection of pain when they die? Cool.

I would limit any fish that are considered top predators which include tuna, salmon, and even talapia. This includes canned samples and farm raised samples. Mercury is cycled through groundwater, so it will enter any water suppy and enter into the food chain when it is methylated and ingested by bacteria that live in the body of water. Mercury cannot be removed from living tissues, so it accumulates as it travels up the food chain. Top predators end up with alot of accumulated Hg.
The FDA came up with a figure based on the Seychelles Study that suggests less than 3 servings of fish per week. I would stick to that number religiously. Anything more than that is risky over time.

well when they are in the 'wild' they are either happy (because they are eating) or 'starving'
of course "it's ok to eat fish because they don't have any feelings"

Thats just silly. No fisherman in his right mind starts carving that stupid fish up like that. You first need to pull and yank on the hook to get it out (sometimes causing guts to come out with the hook). Then you smash the little suckers head on a rock several times. Thats the humane way to do it. You dont just stick them with a knife right after you catch them.

You rip out the stringer and cause them to bleed a bit. Then put them on a stringer and let them swim around. It will bring the bigger fish so that when they start nibbling on them you can shoot them all with your shotgun.

Thats one way of doing it I prefer to just use my pocket knife and create some deep flesh wounds (being careful not to kill them you want that sucker to flop around as much as possible) then tie the sucker to my line and use'em for bait.

The only good thing that ever came out of Peta was when those naked ladys painted themselves up and posed in cages. That was pretty cool but the rest is evil I tell ya.

Here in OK we have a town named slaughterville. PETA came and tried to convince them to rename it veggieville. Despite Pamela showing up and showing off her tits and getting a lifetime supply of veggie burgers they said no.
