Good he should take his self promotion there, I enjoy watching someone spout off after tackling a receiver who just made a catch on you for twenty yards like he so frequently did, but then cock off about the hit or lack there of.

The fact that he practiced against D's WR concerns me because it means he is familiar with their traits; however, the converse is also true ;)

If he covers Rod there will be career numbers with Rod's double moves he puts on and you know how much of a strong point Lenny was covering those.

That's the problem: despite all rumors to the contrary, it still has not been demonstrated that L. Walls had any traits. He did have a pulse, and at one time I actually thought he would be a decent DB. Now I know he had no traits.

Short on talent because of injuries yes they are...........did they lose their mind no.
In reality, he was claimed off waivers by Oakland, NE did not have a chance to make a claim for him due to their record being better.

Oct. 24 Charles Woodson broke his leg during Sunday's contest, according to the AP. Coach Norv Turner said Woodson probably would miss 6-8 weeks, but more would be known on Monday after Woodson's injury is re-examined.
He could be back by then but he is injured as of now.

Lenny Walls is a Raider
By Bill williamson
Denver Post Staff Writer
AFC West rival Oakland claimed former Broncos cornerback Lenny Walls off waivers today. He was scheduled to report to Oakland today and is expected to be in uniform Sunday at San Diego.
Walls, Denver's starting right cornerback at the beginning of the season, was put on the injured reserve on Nov. 1 and cut Monday. He lost his starting job to rookie Darrent Williams in Week 3 and played in nickel defense packages and filled in for injured players. Walls injured his groin Oct. 23 at the New York Giants.

This seems appropriate. Walls seemed a little too "west-side" for Denver. My girlfriend and her roommate met Lenny Walls and Champ Bailey at a restaraunt right before pre-season. Walls was making a pass at her. I guess he was wearing a baggy hat and she thought it looked funny and asked him about it.
He said "This is what all the ****a' thugs are wearin'." ::)
Her roommate, who is a Chiefs fan, quickly chimed in that she likes the turds of Missouri and Champ was like "lets go."
When she told me the story I got pissed that she didn't ask for an autograph but she doesn't even follow football at was like "I don't know who he is. He was some guy with a stupid hat."
Anyway good luck to Walls in the butt-hole. Now he can learn from the great Norv Turner and his career will be resurrected. :unamused:

Well, that's not quite true. In '03, he did a pretty damn good job covering teams #1 WRs. I think he finished second in the league or thereabouts in passes defensed. Unfortunately, the injury bit the next season, and he has not gotten his mojo back. I think he will be a good corner for someone (hopefully not Oakland).

My main concern is that the Raiders will pick Lenny's brain about of defensive game plans and possible some offensive plays. Not to mention the terminology that the captains use for quick audible's and blitz calls at the line of scrimmage.
Not saying he has all the info. But he has enough to help out the Raiders for the game.
Hopefully the game on the 24th will mean nothing to the Broncos. Hopefully they will have the West won and the 2nd seed lock up by then.

Bah! Lenny was a good corner, anyone who thinks different is being too hard on the kid. He's got speed and size, but for whatever reason the mental side of things slipped from time to time.
If he puts it together in Oakland, I'm going to be pissed. All the tools are there, he just needs to turn it on.

It's one thing knowing what they're going to do, it is a whole different things being able to stop it. It won't have any affect on how we attack their statue QB Collins. Lenny can suck a big one in Chokeland.

Walls did not have speed and he had height, not size. The guy had arms like pipe cleaners...a 6'4" 195 frame is just flat skinny. His problem was that he doesn't have the quick response muscle explosion needed for CB's. He was a tall safety playing corner. As for "picking his brain"...the Broncos signed one of their safeties earlier. I doubt there's much either player contributes in terms of "secret information". The NFL's become like Microsoft...an open source document template where everybody does more or less the same stuff anyway.

Personally - I've always been surprised by the general love for Lenny on this board. I wanted to like him. I don't hate him as a person. But frankly he's never been anything special and frankly he's been a liability in a number of games. There have been stretches where he would be schooled on every play. I like the guy and wish him well. But I'm quite happy with the guys we have back there now and would not change a thing.

Anytime a receiver caught the ball, they would simply run downhill and like magic Lenny would tackle their waists and slide down until all he had was a shoe. They'd squirt out like wet soap leaving him face down in the turf. His ball awareness was non-existant. He played physical but unfortunately it was in the mold of Quentin Jammer.
We officially botched the Walls/Herndon situation.

What a teriffic transition this secondary has undergone in a single year. We went from Walls being a STARTER and our nickel guy being Middlebust just 2 years ago to Champ, Darrent, Fox..speed to burn...and even the safety spot is looking better with Brandon coming on, Cox is a FA suprise and I'll lay $$$ that Browner is going to be a STUD starter within a year of getting on the field and the future replacement for Lynch. What was a serious weakness is now quite suddenly a team strength. Do you guys realize this secondary is #1 in the AFC in completion percentage and #4 in the NFL despite having the most passes in the league thrown at it? That's with a rookie CB starting, a rookie nickel and Champ with his hammy.
Not to shabby.

And what's great is that the young guys are only going to get better. You think of starting rookies at any position - but especially at corner - and you sort of assume that you are just going to have to grin and bear it for a year or two. Well, we have gotten them tons of experience at this point, we're 9-2, and they have played damn well.

At best you usually assume you won't get quality minutes from rookie CB's until their second year. Dallas drafted Terrance Newman #5 in the whole draft and just now in his 3rd year is he performing up to expectations. We got two rooks that are now for all practical purposes, not really rookies anymore with the time they've been out there. Finding ONE guy to do that past the 1st round would be a coup. Finding TWO is amazing. I forgot Paymah also...he looks shaky next to Fox and D-Will but only because they're both so good. By next year he may be challenging for a starters spot, or at worst, moving to FS and challenging Fergie. We could have the fastest secondary in the league with Champ, Darrent, Fox, Browner and Paymah within another year. I have to hand it to Shanny...for all the past mistakes he's made there, he hit a home run with this draft in the secondary.

I think he's a decent guy, too. Heck, he fired Drew Rosenhaus in the offseason. That's got to count for something.

Doesn't really matter, with the new rule changes like the chuck rule the days of the big physical CB are soon to be over, the NFL will be switching back to the smaller speedier coverage backs. Until the NFL decides to go back to the huge smash mouth running game, then the DB's will get a little bigger to come up and defend the run. It's all a revolution baby, round and round...
