NFL | Looking to add a third Thanksgiving Day game and a new TV package
Fri, 25 Nov 2005 20:37:37 -0800

Barry Horn, of the Dallas Morning News, reports beginning next season, the NFL is set to add a third game to their Thanksgiving Day schedule. Having already cooked up deals with CBS, ESPN, Fox, NBC and DirecTV set to begin next year for an average of $3.7 billion annually through 2011, the NFL is looking for another deal. An eight-game, prime time Thursday and Saturday TV package probably will be introduced before the end of the season. The package is expected to kick off Thanksgiving night and end around Christmas.

I think a night game on Thanksgiving gets better ratings than the day games.

Maybe take Detroit out of the yearly debacle? Who wants to watch them lay a giant steamer on the carpet year after year?

I'd vote for that! A late start would be great. Maybe 4:15pm or so would be perfect!

I think that the NFL needs to add an AFC team to that tradition. The leading candidates should be historically great teams like Denver and maybe Miami or even Pittsburgh.

they need to stop giving it to the same teams. its annoying. especially detroit, just cuz they're never any good its a waste of a damn good time to watch football.

I don't know, watching the Broncos on TV Thursday, and having college games on Friday and Saturday plus a full slate of NFL on Sunday has me a little footballed out right now.

I can't believe, just too much football. That whole Thursday game threw off my weekly schedule.

BITE YOUR TONGUE! There's no such thing as "too much football"...!Booya!

They might as well add a third game. Nobody ever pays attention to the Lions game...
