Ha! This isn't gunna be good. I personally don't really care either way. Seems like it causes more problems than what its worth.
It was fun until TJ applied a weighted system. A Plus for the board IMO

As I said it should be based on no. of posts, age, occupation, pet preference (cat vs dog vs koala), drink of choice, number of mullet scalps and mode of transport. Horse vs cow vs car vs bus vs bike vs roller skate vs skateboard vs scateboarding cow.

I agree from an outsiders point of view it made little analytical sense to have "No" as one choice and two types of "yes" Thus splitting the Yes vote.
Especially when the poll was done in stages. But I may be wrong.

I will agree with you on that. TJ had two choices where people wanted some form of rep and one choice where people didn't want rep. So he split the vote of the people that wanted at least some sort of rep and the no repstick side won because of it. The poll as you have it now should easily side on a return to rep.
If it does pass I will be open for business again..LOL LOL

I voted no because I like giving out rep and props but I don't like what it does to the forum when there is weight attached to them. People thought that I put Kyla avatars up because I was a repwhore, whatever that means, Too me rep stick has nothing to do with anything. In a perfect world every Bronco fan would have 11 red bricks and every chef fan would have 11 black ones.

Actually for what it is worth it hasn't. The poll TJ constructed was flawed. There were two options for a rep ranking system thus spliting the vote of those in favor into two options than it was pited against a single option of no points system.
This current poll will put this feature to bed one way or the other.

I voted yes. Now that I think about it, though, I almost wish I hadn't. Since it was turned off, I have gotten, like, almost 12,000 rep points. Right now, my rep schlong stretches almost to Topeka. This is the thing... The weighted system was always in place. I didn't apply anything. It was always there. The only thing I did was upgrade the board and in doing so I had to revert the templates, which revealed the weights.
This idea that I did anything different is comical and ignorant at the same time. The only thing that happened was that people saw the weights and didn't like them.

That's the thing. IMO the Mane was a self-respecting forum before we had rep-whoring and 96 threads dedicated to rep.
You know it's weird. I belong to a couple of other forums and nobody even ever mentions rep. It's there people rep one another and there is even a ranking but nobody gives a shiat about it. I think whats happened here is it's just become something to argue about. It's an interesting phenomena really.
Who demanded the recount anyway? We've already voted on this several times.....

The fact that the term is even in the lexicon here speaks to me about what a useless thing it was. The way it is now is infinitely more valuable to the community, IMO. But again, if the community decides that the issue should be reopened, then we can re-open this issue. I personally wish you'd have waited until after the season. There's a game on Sunday.

I wish you'd maybe go back and do the research that is already on this board on this topic before you rush headlong into this thing creating polls and following it up with a bunch of questions that have already been answered.
The rep system was always a weighted system. Rep hammers just weren't always visible. They became visible after I upgraded the board and reverted the templates. That reversion caused fields to change, hence we lost avatar tag lines and the rep hammer showed up in the post bit. It wasn't a planned change in the system at all.
But unfortunately, I had a major budget cut from my "real life" job at the time, and my focus went into personal survival. I mistakenly thought that people would just shrug those numbers off, and I underestimated how much people would tie in thier egos with those numbers. That's my bad. As a public communications professional, I should have known better. I believe I would have caught it if my bandwidth hadn't been so strained. But it's entirely possible that I'm just slipping.

I'm sorry... I don't mean to get down on you Baja. I just got back from a conference that has energized me like I haven't felt in a long time, and drove home looking forward to the future. It's unfortunate timing because almost the hour I get home, I come back to this old issue...

Kill the poll if you like, At your invite I was only trying to bring clarity and fairness to what many felt was a flawed poll result. This rep thing is not worth the hasstle it seems to bring. I thought this would be easy, a simple yes or no. As it turns out I regret I started the thing.

There was always a weighted system baja. TJ just changed the weights and everyone got their panties in a wad. Actually, I think everyone got their panties ina wad because we could all see who had what weight which, of course, was going to lead to some jealousy.

If we ever go back to a rep system, I think we should have just a simple "Negative Rep" system. No positive rep, just negative rep which would make for some good discussions and even better repercussions.

I had to rep you for "Rep d!ck" That is Awesome! I am comfortable with my size both Rep & "Little Elvis" My Browser never complained about the sive of my rep & my hand never complained about the size of Little E!

It's good just the way it is. There's STILL a points system and you can see your OWN rep stick grow, but it doesn't become a worthless competition by showing who has the biggest rep stick. This new system appears to be working. There is less rep whoring now...

You know the 1st 4 months I was on here I didn't know what Rep was & I was happy as my dog rolling around in his own sh!t. Once I saw it was there then I noticed the posts that I hoped I would get repped on I didn't & I would get Rep'ed on the posts that I didn't care much or even forgot I had posted.
When I first started lurking then posting here I went by content of posts, you can tell pretty quick who knows there stuff & who is a glory hound. Again I didn't know what Rep was but did notice who had posted a lot & read a lot of thier posts.
Me, I like to talk Broncos X's & O's, Get Bronco info, Have fun at Rivals expense & share Broncos Past experiences with other Bronco fans. I don't need Rep to do accomplish that. Thanks for a great site Taco!
