actually, i like their chances. they have a somewhat pretty decent defense and they can score points. the big question for them is can they keep the pressure off of Carr. not likely but anything could happen.

Yeah, but USC would probably beat the Chiefs by 17 so Houston definately got a chance!

Texans will have a chance if KC plays like they did against Buffalo.
This question will be answered on Sunday ....
Was KC's performance last weekend a hiccup or an indication of the rest of their season.
Even if the Chiefs run for 8 td's against HOU ( like the ATL blowout last year ) it won't change my mind about their offenses amazing decline.
ZachKC
11-15-2005, 01:16 AM
I don't think anyone would argue there hasn't been a decline...there is just a question as to what degree of a decline.
A Chiefs offense that had a small decline from last year is still a great offense. The one that showed up in BUF? Not so much.
Good thing is our defense is playing well enough to keep our offense in games, they are doing some good things.

It's funny you guys are talking about this . . . I was just last night looking at the Steelers '79 Super Bowl roster - heights, weights, etc... and thinking how much bigger and better this era's athletes are.
Of course it's 100% conjecture, but I'd take the '05 Trojans over the '79 Steelers - straight up, no points. Their line averages almost 40 pounds heavier per man, and (I'm guessing here, but) I'll bet they're all faster than their Steeler counterparts.
_____
If you don't buy that . . . how about this: Can anybody really argue that the '05 Trojans would wallop the '73 Dolphins? That Dolphins OL averaged 252 pounds - and I'm guessing that every single of the 296-lb avg. OL Men of Troy would DUST THEM in a 40-yard dash.

I am sorry but your defense only plays well enough against sub par offenses.
Your offense OBVIOUSLY hurts without Holmes especially at the goal line where he always found a way in like Marcus Allen did for you. Tony G. is on the decline with age and injuries and teams are taking him away because you have only one decent receiver whom I won't mention here.
Your o line is getting old and banged up which was the STRENGTH of your offense making Green look much better than he really is.
Hence No Holmes, No dominating o line, Green returning to his old ways because he is now regularly getting pummeled, Tony G. pretty much has MIA and only one decent receiver.
Did someone hear a WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY just slam shut ? :~ohyah!:

Our running game is just fine. LJ just a-ok on the goal line. Shoddy red zone play calling and turnovers have kept us from getting into the endzone if we make a trip to the redzone.
The interior of the line still holds up very strong...our run blocking is fantastic. The part of the line that sucks isn't old...they are not good. Our tackles are poor...
Again, our defense plays well enough to keep us in games. They have not allowed a 100 yd rusher. They force turnovers and are tough in the redzone. They are not all world...but they do a lot of good things.
Tony G. has not MIAd...our pass portection has MIAd. Esp late he has been able to get open and make some things happen. This offense has a lot of problems. Not having Holmes really isn't one of them.

I think the Chiefs could easily lose this game...I think they are very close to quiting as a team. Jordan Black has single handedly stripe the soul from this team. With him chasing his defender straight back to the QB on nearly every play has the rest of the team realizing they have little chance to do anything with that going on. If you haven't been watching, Black is the worst NFL lineman I have ever seen bar none. He makes Trezelle Jenkins look like All Pro talent.

I'd agree that no NFL team would lose to USC. The Level of play is much higher and the game is faster and more refined. The NFL is the Best of the Best in football.
If the National champions could hang with NFL teams why can't guys like Ken Dorsey start for the 49ers?
Houston would beat USC like 51-7 (if usc can even get 7)

The second half of the season offers a better chance for really bad teams to win. Their opponents know how bad they are by now so overlooking them is a greater possibility, and injuries, distractions, etc...are wearing every team down by now. If this game was in week 3 I'd say no way the Texans can win...but the Chiefs look like a team in turmoil with the Holmes and Vermeil issues disturbing them and another poor year looming. I think Houston finishes with more than one win, and this may be the place they get it.

I dont think so.
Even the dregs in the NFL are among the best college athletes there are. USC may have some fine players and some of them will go to the NFL, but all 22 of the starters are not and all 22 of Houston's...or any NFL franchise for that matter...players are well, in the freakin NFL.

From top to bottom, USC or Texas would be badly outmanned and under-steroided. They'd see blitzes and speed that would make their heads spin and the DB's would get torched every single play. The NFL is the best of the best.

USC/Texas/Any College team would be immediately baffled at the complexity of NFL defense's and offensive schemes.

Whoever said the Texans defense is decent is wrong. They suck against the pass and the run. Their pass rush is garbage, too.
The only thing that worries me is the national stage. The Texans won't want to be embarrassed in their own stadium on the national stage.
I am going to the game so I don't want to see any "whither Boob?" threads when I get home around midnight.
