Knicks searching for a point
Nov 8 - With the Knicks struggling at the point guard position, could Denver's Earl Watson be on their radar? The New York Daily News suggests the Nuggets could emerge as a trading partner since they have one too many point guards and are in need of front-court help now that Nene's out for the season.
The Knicks have plenty of power forwards to speak of and would love to unload the contracts of Malik Rose and Maurice Taylor. Earl Watson seems to be the odd man out in Denver's point guard rotation.
Also heard during the game that the Nuggs might be looking to bring Karl Malone out of retirement. Gotta get someone to replace Nene, esp. with Martin's knee and Camby's injury history.
Isn't Junk Mail out hunting for Mexican girls? :nono:

I don't want Malone either, but they def. need another PF/C in the rotation. Eduardo is good, but lacks the ideal height, Elson is there some nights and gone the next. Malik Rose's contract is brutal, same goes for Mo Taylor but I guess I would prefer Taylor over Malone or Rose.

With those contracts I'll stick with elson and eddie. The fact is, the spurs are winning it all this year. I don't want to sound like I'm mailing it in 5 games into the season, but IMO we aren't going to win it all this year, so no need to do something drastic like take on one of those contracts.

We can't trade Watson until December 15th anyway.

I agree that the Spurs look destined to win it all, but the Nuggs def. have to do something to strengthen the front court. Although there most glaring weakness is 3pt shooting, the fact is that Nene prob won't be back next year and maybe they can get something for watson. I think this team is very close to being great, which is frustrating. I would avoid trading with the Knicks at all costs, unless of course they could find away to grab David Lee from them.

Hell no on all counts here. The Knicks can keep their overpaid players and Kawl Malown can stay retired.

I don't understand everyone bitching about our frontcourt. We're fine. Elson is a solid player and Kleiza is capable of 5 min a game if we need him.
3 point shooting is where we have problems. Trade Boykins, keep Watson.

With Martin's knee and Camby's history, I wouldn't call the frontcourt "fine". I like Elson but would you want him starting if Martin went down?

Nene going down was devastating. That really hurt our trade options. I am more concerned about not having a solid shooting guard and was disappointed that we did not address that issue in the offseason. I was hoping for a Nene/Watson or hopefully Nene/Boykins for a sharpshooter trade this season but that obviously won't happen now. Martin and Camby's health issues are concerns as far as depth goes but I don't think some overpaid garbage from NY make it any better.
Also, I hate to say it because anything can happen but when the Spurs signed Nick and Mike Finley they really all but assured themselves of another title. Certainly they should at a minimum be in the finals.
