On the Dan Patrick show. What is it with ex-jocks who say the same dumb stuff they used to criticize? He thinks Owens could end up with Denver, as Mike Shanahan would 'take a chance'. Again, the talent angle is supposed to overrule everything, as if no other talented receiver will ever come along. Hell, top pick wideouts come out nearly every year now. The guy will be 33 next year, coming off injuries. So that tire has mileage. These geeks keep insisting some coach "out there" will try to change the guy. It's so ridiculous local Sports host Kornheiser rambled on and on and on about how he'd take him back. And he rambled on and on and on about Owens' talent. "HE'S GREAT. A GREAT, GREAT PLAYER. WHEN HE'S ON THE FIELD THEY SCORE TOUCHDOWNS." Sal Palontonio got him straight, tho. Kornhesier wasted time speculating about TO returning to the Eagles. Sal told him basically there was no point going on with that, since the Eagles made their decision. His tone was kinda like, 'are you kidding me?'
So the flavor of the week is now Shanahan. :crazy:
BTW, the Redskins officially released a statement saying they are NOT interested in any way. Silly Kornheiser said whenever a team says that they really mean they'll look him over. Whatever. Sometimes you just ignore goobers.
Last time I checked, the game TO was in? They were getting blown out by someone, I forget...:~ohyah!:
And he only cleared Champ after he yanked that hamstring. Never has one player gotten so much endless hype over talent. Except for Vick. ::)

This is the same idiot who picked the Raidtards to win the AFC West this year.

To be a national "football expert", you must:
1) Listen to the radio, watch television, and read the newspaper;
2) Take good notes;
3) Be proficient at articulating your notes.
It's amazing. One person speculates something, and they all start repeating it. Before you know it, it is reported almost as if it was fact.
I'm telling you. It has to be the greatest job in the world.
I wonder what would happen if one of them walked off a cliff.

I'm officially going to go with Hotrod here and not waste anymore time talking about T.O. he's suspended and will be deactivated and I'm gonna enjoy not seeing him for the rest of the season as much as humanly possible.

And McNabb. I've never seen so many spikes outside of the endzone in my life. I'm going to start calling McNabb Carl Spackler. He's out there to kill gophers, not win football games.

You could probably find one in there, but it's likely been there so long that opening it would be like opening a packet of sugar.

The original source of all this speculation is two-fold.
First, when asked about Owens during an Adam Schefter NFL.com telephone interview, Shanahan made the mistake of saying something to the effect of; "you're always looking for ways to improve your football team"...rather than just saying 'no'.
Second, Shanahan said flatly that Denver wasn't interested in the least when Owens was planning on leaving San Fran & his agent screwed up the paperwork, leaving him trade bait for Baltimore, followed by a week of whining and literally crying in one interview before ending up in Philly...where the story definately didn't end with; "happily ever after".
Shanahan won't discuss it, which, for some reason known only to people who perpetuate this nonsense, must mean there are on-going negotiations or something.
If there was anything to this...it came out of that Schefter interview & rested on the possibility that Owens might be released outright...which is not, nor will be the case.
Also, it's been speculated that Rosenhaus mentioned Denver among several possibilities IF Owens were released mid-season.
It's baseless and speculatively centered around things Shanahan DIDN'T say...like 'no'...better yet...'go away'.

I just cant see Denver bringing in TO in the middle of the season, its too risky.

I think bringing him in next season is more risky that the rest of this season. I say that because I think there's a chance TO might be humbled by what happend this week, and might just want to play football now.

Isn't that the same logic Schefter used to deduce the Broncos were going after Drew Bledsoe a few years back?

The team that gets TO this year (if there is one) will look very smart. BUT whoever decides to take on TO next year better include in the contract that if he does anything detrimental to the team, his contract is no longer. Now that would work if everyone didnt jack up the price, but we all know someone like Al Davis will jack up the price and TO will get exactly what he is looking for.
I didn't mention Dan Snyder because as long as Gibbs is here, it's whatever Gibbs wants and you can bet Gibbs wants nothing to do with TO.

I've kinda had enough with all this TO talk, but i'll respond anyway. I'd be willing to grab him for the rest of this year, and for the rest of this year only IF certain clauses were put in his contract that would keep him inline. Then after this year, release him

Thats the one thing i also believe. I think TO might, maybe, just maybe have been humbled by this whole situation and i bet next year if given the chance he will be the ideal teammate and will be once again a top WR.

This year is more likely for him to be humbled that next year. All of that will likely ware off during the off season and he'll be back to psycho TO

You obviously don't remember the media licking T.O.'s balls talking about he was a team player and a hero after the SuperBowl.
He changed agents and the rest is history.
Let me explain something...he wasn't on a rookie contract. It was a 15 million dollar two tiered signing bonus...yeah, he might of done better if he didn't have another idiot agent before Drew, but who is to blame for that? it's like asking Mike Tyson why he keeps winding up in jail!
If T.O. is rolling around in his bed sleepless, you can rest assured the Shark is allready planning damage control to snag as much new meat as possible and mitigate damage...
This is the classic example example of two ego centric individuals trying to impose their percieved will on other powerfull people...if T.O. is hoping for some sort of public outcry in his defense, he's going to be out of luck, he's chosen the wrong venue...
This is over but I'm sure T.O. won't shut up.
My biggest hope is that it destroys the Shark and shows him for what he really is.
