I am so excited, I can't wait!

Do you snowboard, ski or both?

What are your favorite mountains to hit? Favorite runs?

I've been to most of the major ones in Colorado. I've done the season pass deals in the past. (unlimited skiing to Keyston, Breck, a-basin and they give you 10 days at Beaver creek and Vail).

Last two years I did (winter park/mary jane) season pass.

It's one of the easier ones to get to and has a pretty good local scene. Especially Mary Jane.

Being knee deep in Broncos season and Crush football tailgating now I probably wont get a season pass. Might get a 4-pass to copper and try to hit Steamboat for the first time. It is by far the best ski town in Colorado in my opinion and they pretty much have the best snow aside from maybe wolfcreek (which is a long ass drive from Denver). Oh and they have the best hot springs in Colorado IMO. http://www.strawberryhotsprings.com/ It's about a 15 minute drive from the ski mountain. It's heaven on earth. Keep this little secret between me and the rest of you few thousand lurkers on the site. lol

I use to ski but when I moved back to Denver my girlfriend won free snowboard lessons from the Warren Miller tour. We took the lesson and I haven't been on skis in over 5 years now. I'm thinking about giving it a shot again. Technology has come along way since then so I've heard.

FYI....to anyone coming to a late season game here. You can take a train from downtown Denver to winter park. www.skitrain.com I think it is. I've never ridden it as a passenger but I worked on the train (part time) when I first moved to town until I got fired. I worked in the catering train serving coffee and beers etc. When I first started I was allowed to ski all day between the ride up and back. Well they promoted me and said "Meck you can no longer ski you have to stay on the train". I went anyway anyway they canned me. Jerks.

I plan on getting OF1 to a-basin atleast once this year. I tried to put a ski trip together and had some interest then I couldn't find the time to go.

I know woody, ak, and a few others around here are avid skiers. When the hard frost breaks up I'd like to throw down a tailgate at the slopes. If you guys have never been to the A-basin "Beach/tailgate" It's one of the cooler scenes in Colorado. People bring RVs, kegs, dogs, bbqs, I've even seen hottubs up there, oh and plenty of pretty women in bikinis during the late spring days.

Ok I'm pumped for snow season now!

Big Mountain, Montana! It rules and I am a two planker for the record. None of that snowboarding punkishness for me. ;D

I can't wait to go. Hopefully I'll be able to head up Thanksgiving weekend. Got my new skis I gotta test out.

Let it snow.....A LOT!

I both ski and snowboard, though I mostly ski. My favorite mountain is also the reasoning behind my screename, Breckenridge in Summit County.

I worked there one year, getting an employee season pass to Breck, Keystone, A-Basin, Vail and Beaver Creek. I skied almost every day that season. It was an awesome experience. To me there's nothing better than skiing/boarding Breckenridge all day and then drinking in town all night.

A-Basin has the best expert terrian in the mountains closer to Denver. I've never been out to the western resorts like Telluride; someday I'll get out there.

Colorado Chowder! :notworthy

I have always been a Vail skier. Though I can be pursuaded to visit Storm Peak @ Steamboat or enjoy a day on Ajax or the Highlands, too.

You can't get OF1 in here (I'm pretty sure! :dunk: ), But if I was in the Red state I would find a way to get in here for a soak.

That's looks pretty cool NPR. By the time I have 1 foot in the grave I'd like to hit as many of the hot springs as possible in America. I'll definetly put that place on the list. Where is that exactly?

There is a picture in there that identifies the peaks. It is like straight past Aspen Highlands. I'll see if I can find a map here. A lot of the pictures in there are of Maroon Bells in the summer.... if you're familiar with them. It's also accessable on crosscountry skis in the winter (more of a trek), but riskier as you are traveling under some chutes that have a reputation to slide once the snowpack turns to garbage.

A more popular picture of Maroon Bells.

Here ya go, meck. Here's a start for you.

Conundrum Creek Trail – 17 miles round trip
This moderate trail is used most frequently by backpackers seeking out the warm waters of the Conundrum hot springs, a set of natural pools at 11,200 feet. Given the popularity of the springs, the Forest Service has issued special instructions regarding campsite usage, human waste and dogs; pick up an information sheet at the Aspen Forest Service office. To help alleviate overcrowding, try to limit your stay to one night.

Not everyone on the trail is destined for the hot springs, however; many day hikers use it to access some pretty meadows and bridged stream crossings. The views of mountains and wildflowers are superb. To get to the trailhead, drive west from Aspen on Hwy. 82 to the roundabout. Turn onto Castle Creek Road, and go five miles to Conundrum Road. Make a right and continue for 1.1 miles to the
trailhead. If the parking is full, backtrack to an overflow
lot on Castle Creek Road — don’t park on Conundrum Road.

Alright... I have trotted out this link before and never knew where to put it.... so it was likely overlooked. The link takes you to a slideshow of amazing photography of a heli ski trip last February not too far from Alaska in British Columbia.

Click the link and start the show. You will likely be prompted to download Photodex which is a very fast and safe download. You need this to view the show. Once it's downloaded and you've started the show right-click and select full screen. Turn the sound up loud and enjoy. It plays for about 15 mins or so. Sound track includes U2, Coldplay, Linkin Park, etc.

Obviously, you need a high speed connection and speakers to fully enjoy this. If you love the high county, good music and great photography you will enjoy the documentation of this great trip!

What kind of skis do you guys ski on? NPR asked me in my rep/comment thing. I had K2's last year that were too long for me. I got Rossi Bandits that I'm dying to try out.

The Rossi Bandit should be a fabulous all mtn ski, MT!

I'm currently shredding the hillside on an AX3 Volkl with a heavily springed Marker binding that keep all 6'4, 210 pounds of me connected to the boards!

Wow! What kind of boots are you in right now? I got some Dalbellos really cheap last year and I think I need to have some of those custom footbeds made for them. They are not the most comfy boots in the world.

I ski in the Rossi racing boot. I love them!

If you're having problems with fit try wearing the thinnest sock possible. They make some very , very thin socks. You'll be surprised....your feet will stay warmer, too.... mainly due to increased blood flow!

Big Mountain? I didn't think you could ski but twice a year there, considering it's always fogged in! j/k It's a badass hill. And fyi, if skiing were easy, they'd call it snowboarding!

LOL Not always! Have you ever skied it? You gotta give it props for being one of the best around. Anytime the Alpine Championships are held somewhere, that's gotta give it big props.

NPR, I have some decently thin smart wool socks that I wear, but honestly, I wasn't impressed with them. My feet did get cold last year. It was just the plain ol un-comfort of the boots that got me. I think if you're flat footed, you'd be good to go.

Even though I live in Colorado, I must say most of the riding/skiing along the I70 corridor sucks. Much rather take that 10 hour drive up to Jackson or pop over to Snowbird.

shiat...you're just spoiled ak. Hell we use to ski on damn near rocks in AZ and loved it. My first ski season back here I went up to vail for my first day out. There was something like a 40 inch base at the time and the whole mountain wasn't opened. I thought I died and gone to heaven. The locals were complaing all over the place.

Did you get some shoes for you pimp suit yet? You gotta get em!
