View Full Version : Salisbury Admits East Coast Bias is Real.

From Salisbury's Chat:
"Absolutely. I think LT is football's best player, I really do. Whether he is the MVP or not is one thing, but no question there is an East Coast bias on this front. If Shaun Alexander played in New York, the guy would be the dogone savior of the world. People think after the Mississippi teams get soft. If Shaun was East of the Mississippi, people would absolutely be talking about him in the MVP mix. And he is a candidate, but we aren't bringing him up for that very reason. ... Now, if you have one back to take, I'll give you three seconds before you better say Tomlinson."

More MVP talk....
We'll see where the teams end up....if the Chargers don't make the playoffs...there is no MVP of the league on the team anywhere.

It's looking more and more like the Chargers wont be making the cut.

You gotta make the playoffs at least to win the MVP...if the team is losing...how can one of it's members have value?

It really seems like the media is making a big push to hype Tomlinson this season for some reason. I like LT's game as much as anyone, but even his average plays in average games are blown out of proportion on highlight reels. Tomlinson has dissappeared in 2 big games that I can think of off hand: vs. Denver and vs. Philly.

Why anyone gives Salisbury the time of day is totally baffling.

LT is amazingly underrated. He set the NFL record for yards from a scrimmage (and chipped in 17 TDs) in 2003 and didn't even make the freaking Pro Bowl. To suggest he's being "hyped" this year is truly comical.

East coast media bias continues to be prevalent and it will always be like that. Sometimes they try and excuse their bull**** by saying baseball and basketball games on the west coast start too late, but the way they cover pro football and boxing tells the true story.

LT2 would run for 2500 yards in our system

Dude...Athletes and Teams are just better on the east coast...why is that so hard to grasp. The best teams are typically in New York or Miami.

What does he have? 15 total Td's after 9 games, wow!! Thats a stat you cant over rate.
He sure did dissapear in the Philly game, but he had 2 td's against us before our D sitffened up.
LT is a monster and deserves all the MVP talk, as well does Alexander after he is having yet another monstrous season. The guy does this every year, and finally the Seachickens are winning, that right there is the only reason Alexander is getting the time of day now imo.

please tell me that's sarcasm.
If not, when was the last time a New York team in any sport at any level won a Championship, same with Miami.

you are probably right
no one would be bitching about Plummer with LT2 on our team, he is almost impossible to stop
one team has stopped him this year

That slime is shiftier than a Changeling on Deep Space Nine...the season record should be considered for MVP, but the playoffs themselves don't count. Those are single game awards.
I'm not sure I have even seen LT play this year except a few sparse highlights and the Bronco game where he was completely locked up...have they even been on prime time yet this year?
It's too soon to even begin considering an MVP except for mental masterbation and to kill air time...November is when you seperate the wheat from the chaff...

Yankees...4 straight World Series wins not too long ago....one against the Mets.
It's just something about being east of the mississippi that makes us faster, smarter, stronger, and better endowed....it's just a fact.

Tomlinson is like Albert Pujols - he is so consistently great year-in/year-out he gets overlooked. If Pujols numbers are anywhere close to someone else who has a 'career year', he loses out.
Tomlinson could win MVP every year. People expect 1500/15TDs.

Wow...I didn't realize he has right around 1100 yards from scrimmage and 15 total TD's...Denver spreads the ball around and doesn't throw to it's backs much, but we have close to that number with Thunder and Lighning...LT is a true feature back...but as Shanahan has pointed out...he's trying to keep Bell and Anderson relatively fresh for the playoff run...you work LT like a mule and he's bound to come up lame eventually...it's just a matter of time...but he's a tough SOB...
I didn't realize his halfway stats are that impressive...

You think so? My buddies when we go out and watch football all agree immediately that LT is the best football player in the NFL right now. On a national level LT is the benefactor of a fantasy football craze that tells people all over the country how good he is (statistically anyway) every week. I think he's more under-hyped than underrated and I believe that's probably due to...
1. East coast bias in coverage.
2. LT is a good, team-oriented guy. Since he's not ripping his coach, QB or O-line and not dressing up like a clown every week, he's not as "exciting" a personality, even though he's better for any team.

Seriously, unless the Chargers completely fade out, how can it be argued that guys like Tiki should even be considered for this type of award?
While I would say that media handout awards are lame to begin with, it does show that some hacks do have their own personal agenda when it comes to handing out accolades. How is this different than the Heisman Trophy bias in each area of the nation? Ever seen how voters bias there goes? There is one hell of a farce too...

Its all a joke, Pez. Just like Hall of Fame voting. It's a big mess of politicking among people that have biased opinions by nature.
