With their schedule, the way they are playing, their record, etc... there is no way they don't get homefield advantage. We have some tough games left and are already 2 games down to this team. If we can get the second seed, we can avoid them for the longest period of time in the playoffs and hopefully someone else can knock them off. Any thoughts?

I think they are scary good... but its too early to worry about it. I'm concerned about the Oakland game and the Chiefs "breathing right behind us.." The Colts, like us, are one quarterback injury away from being mediocre.

I say we worry about beating an inferior Oakland team from California that came into out own house last year and whipped us...in the snow...and to think I almost drove thru that blizzard for that disaster...at least I didn't catch the ride to NY this year...

I have said all along if we can hold court and go .500 on the road we will be fine...KC pulled one out of their ass and suddenly tearboy is a genius again...

All Denver can do is take care of business, they can't control anything else...yeah, it was a week to watch and hope some rivals stumbled, not one did, so Shanahan might be wise to point that out to wake them up tommorow...

We play for the second seed now...period...but first the division...both KC and and IMO an even more dangerous SD team are biting our heels...the cushion we might of had with a win against NY is gone...Oakland is a game we can win or lose...

Altho coaches like the bye week to rest the team a bit, history says teams come out flat...hopefully someone raises some hell early this week and we need to practice in pads at full speed...at least on wednesday and thursday...Denver has a bad habit of coming out flat after bye weeks...I'm sure Shanahan knows this, and we travel better to the west than the east, but this game is far from a given...

Oak game is gonna be tough... cant wait!

WE control our own destiny which is fantastic. Colts have a couple hard games, thats it. But this is the NFL and any given sunday anything can happen.

2nd seed is possible, we might have to play the Colts, o well, time to hurdle them and get to the SB someday

Its a long season and they still have SD, Pitt, Cincy and Seattle on the schedule. They are playing like the best team in football... its still yet to be determined on the field.

Like it or not, we are going to have to conquer these fears of Indy if we are ever to do anything great. Fitting though... our 97' championship team had to first avenge a playoff loss to Jacksonville from the year earlier at the scene of the crime, then avenge two losses to teams that beat us during the regular season to finally answer the ghosts that were part of us losing 3 super bowls total by blowout margins and then trying to derail a 13 year losing streak by our conference in the big game... exercising Indy should seem like a cake walk however... its one week at a time.

Zzzzz...please. Just because they beat the diminished Pats? No one put the Chargers in the bowl when they did the first beatdown of the champs.

I love all this indy bandwagon crap...the obsesssion about Manning in the superbowl is tiresome. Clowns like Mark Clayton make it sound like the season is over, saying they're on pace for a 14-2 or 15-1 season. Right. So let's stop playing now and shove them into the superbowl. Why wait? I'm sure Pittsburgh, Denver, San Diego, Kansas City, Carolina will all sit at home and toast their title right now. The pap schedule they've been served up SHOULD have them undefeated. They remind me of the Jags that year they went 14-2, with a powder puff schedule. What happened when they had competition? They crapped out. And Indy still has some real teams to deal with down the road. everyone can't play the texans twice a year.

If we mannage to be the second seed, I have a feeling Indy won't be there in the AFC championship game. Indy doesn't farwell against the Steelers, Chargers ball control offenses. That has been one of our problems playing against them, keepng their offense off the field.

Somebody had a post here recently of a writer who said Denver was MUCH better than Indy - he cited "quality opponents," etc... and the fact that Indy has played lowly opponents, and barely beat Jax in their own building . . .

I do agree with Crush2724, too, that ball control stymies them a bit. But that'll only work if we can avoid getting behind too quick. If we do that, and control the ball and clock . . . we have a chance.

Plus, I like Coyer throwing this new defense at the Big stupid Lug. He makes me so sick with all those audibles. I wanna see D-Will smack him senseless from the blindside - he'll stop yakkin' it up before the snap if we BLAST him a few times.

Plus, though this might seem "hackneyed," I think 3 years in a row would be difficult for any such playoff matchup - same teams - same venue.

I wouldn't doubt the Dolts going undefeated this year only because of their easy schedule so far & their health. I think it would be hysterical to see them go 16 -0 into the playoffs & lose to JAGoffs or us in Divisional game.

All it would take is a dline pushing Manrino around for a full 60 minutes & 3 quick young CBs covering their receivers (sound like a D we know & love?)

Get psyched for it...because if we are to go to the Super Bowl....we will have to beat Indy in their house.

Someone got that in a GIF from the preseason? That was him wasn't it? Or maybe Peyton crying on the sideline shortly after? That would be just what I need to recover from a Monday hangover.

Indy is the only team that DEN can't beat in my honest opinion. DEN does not match up well at all with them. You can't beat INDY by blitzing them and coyer will still send the house. Den needs to improve the Pass D. INDY runs the ball well too. A lot of season to go though anything could happen but right now I don't see anyone beating INDY in INDY especially.

The Broncos have matchup problems with Indy, but I GUARANTEE they don't "want" to see either San Diego or Pittsburgh. The Steelers are hard hitting (these teams give them the biggest trouble) and they had to come back at home against San Diego (with the help of some calls). The Jags are another team that leaves them bruised. The one tilt I will give to denver this year is the improvement of the defensive line, which could prove the difference if they do meet again. Another team that would give them problems would be a healthy Kansas City team. It's still all about Manning...if he gets to the bowl, the hype will be unbearable.

BTW, anyone see his newest commercial? I didn't get it...will someone hit his big forehead with a cream pie? :dunk:

What we have to do, is finish second, so the Colts do not have 2 weeks to gameplan for us. They have always had more trouble in the second playoff week. I really think that we can play with them, even in the dome, if they have only the one week to plan. May not win, but should be a close competitive game then.

I feel it's the same...better QB play and a better TO ratio...but the defense is about the same.

Did anyone watch the pregame show on ESPN last night? They had an interview with Manning watching DirectTV (assuming from previous Sunday) during the bye week. He was watching the Broncs v. Eagles! Think he is expecting us somewhere down the line.

Great.

Manning is an excellent student of the game and if he is watching game film of us now, already, then he is going to be well prepared for anything we are going to throw at him defensively if and when we meet in the playoffs.

Manning beats the blitz something like 95% of the time.

We better be creative.

I just do not see any team beating them in their own house.

Good hypothetical question for discussion, but until we are seeded up against them I'm not worrying... lots can and will happen between now and them.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

I resemble that remark...we need to concentrate on Oakland and stop shaking in our boots because Manning is watching our tape...It was perfectly obvious how to beat that 8-9 man front...go max protect and hit the middle post to Harrison or Wayne...it's wide open.

We haven't even come close to breaking clear...even in our own division. Every stinkin' rival but NE won. It will take something quite unusual to see Indy go less than 14-2 with an unbelievably easy schedule remaining. Might as well get used to it. New England is a shell of their former selves, the injuries just piled up too high. They were overmatch and Billichick wouldn't of tried those 4th down plays and the onside kick...he knew it.

Unless the Bronc's make a 180 degree turnaround in their pass coverage I see the Colt's beating us once again 45-10 in the playoff's. They are just too good and I just don't have a feel for the Broncos for some reason. Something is missing. Big play wideout? Tight end? I dunno.

i just hope if/when we play the dolts, we finally bring our A game from our D backs. if we win then, great. if we don't then we don't deserve to go on. but please no more deer in the headlights from players or shannyhanman.

why be afraid to play them? i actually think we can hang with them this year. maybe not beat them but then again we showed promise in the pre-season matchup and forced them into mistakes. i would love nothing better than to play them on their turf and go to the Super Bowl while Peyton once again has to sit home and watch.

We don't even need to get the sack though. Just use the entire opening drive to beat the crap out of him. Send 8 guys every down and hit him every play. Even if it's late, you're sending a message. I'll take a couple 15 yarders and a scared qb over good sportsmanship and a 25 point blowout loss any day. But I'm also a dirty cheating bastard.

If we do draw them in the playoffs I am going to get tickets & drive down this year. I couldn't the last 2 years but am going to do it this year! It can't get any worse than years past. Anyway we have 8 more games to worry about. I would prefer to see us beat up on Chefs in their house just to quiet the trolls for a while!

this much is true but i was speaking mainly for the 3 quarters of play that we had with our starters and theirs. sure, the playbook is basic stuff but we did make them turn the ball over which is something we hadnt shown the last couple of playoff games.
