Well here i am at wal mart, i notice Call of Duty 2, i go hey that would be fun to play tonight!!

Go home install the thing, then only to realize i dont have a good enough video card. No big deal ill take it back, only to get there and be turned away because PC games cant be returned anymore caz of copyright laws. >:'( Now i got, hey EB games might take it.....nope, same deal! :moody:

So here goes the ebay Q's.

-Is it reliable?
-how does it work?
-Will i sell the thing?

Thanks all in advance.

Very reliable & works great! Make sure to say in your ad it's adult-owned, non-smoking environment & the item is in mint condition. Maybe a brief description as to why you're selling it. And make sure you have a paypal account.

oh and be sure to mention that you didn't use the cd-key online because otherwise the person who buys it won't be able to play online, that's a big deal when buying a used game on ebay

I sell things on eBay all the time, and it's super easy. Some tips:

1) Take your own pictures.
2) Like they said, make sure you state that it's adult owned. It wouldn't hurt to tell your story, that you purchased it by mistake and haven't even played it.
3) Figure out shipping costs... They shouldn't be more than around $5 for priority shipping (I suggest going the priority route)
4) Start off the auction at a decent price. I usually start all my auctions at .99, because for one, it entices people to bid, and two, I know if I have a good product, the price will jump at the end. I don't know much about this game you bought, but if it just came out, the price will jump dramatically.
5) Check your email daily. Make sure and respond to all e-mails promptly.
6) Use the title effectively. Something like "Call Of Duty 2 PC Game NEW Mint" or something along those lines.
7) And yeah, opening up a PayPal account is a must

Whichever account allows you to take credit card payments... Either premier or business. I don't think personal account lets you.

Dude, you're gunna be hooked I just know it. I don't know if you keep your video games or what, but I usually beat my games and then sell them on eBay and get some money back. I usually get more than one of those places that buy back games will give me. I'm about to sell Madden 06 and get a new game.

Selling things on eBay kicks so much ass it's unreal. In fact, I may need to go through my room and find any games/books/etc I don't want anymore.

Ebay rules. Most of what is on of1 came from ebay or atleast the major components.

My only issue with them is my password recognition. For some reason it stops recognizing it and I have to change it all the time. Pisses me off.

eBay and PayPal are each fine, you won't have any problems.

However, you may start getting emails from people claiming to be eBay or PayPal, and they're gunna have a link for you to click, to try and get your info... I get these every 6 months or so... Anyways, if you ever get an email from "ebay" or "paypal" asking for you to go to another page and sign in, delete the email... Then type in ebay.com or paypal.com yourself and go to those sites to see if they were legit. They never are in my experiences.

I actually almost got caught in one 2 nights ago. I got an email from paypal saying 400 bucks had just been charged to my account, and that they wanted me to verify it... I almost flipped out, and was about to punch in my info, but then I recognized the scam... I deleted the email and went to PayPal.com myself, and sure enough, there was no charge at all.

Very important and just adding to Rhymes post but if it says dear paypal user don't open it! real emails from paypay and ebay will address you by your full name (i get them all the time and just delete them) or report them if you feel like it.

Before i put this through i gotta couple more dumb questions.

When the bid ends, i just ship the package to the place the buyer says, correct?
And, if at some point before bidding ends, can i cancel it and take my item off the auction?

1- correct
2- You can but it's really hard i would reccomend not going that route, also make sure you put in shipping instruction that you are not responsiable for damage during shippment.I use united postal sevices only becuse it's right by my house anf they have a cool shippment calculator http://www.usps.com/

Ebaying will be easier than you think you just have to do it once and it's cake.

Just do flat rate... Priority shipping is like 3.95 and the post office gives you free packing materials. I usually just round up and charge a flat 5 bucks on video games. As long as you're only shipping to the US that is fine... if you're gunna open it to canada and other places, you'll have to do some research.

No tax and flat also in return policy put (item is sold as is) and payment instuctions i put this...Buyer pays shipping and (insurance if requested), buyer must contact me (ASAP) to set up invoice and payment.**PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU ARE GOING TO PAY** Seller is not responsiable for item lost by carrier if insurance is not requested.

Ebay rules. I've spent the last few months building up a reputation. Hocked a few Chiefs jerseys that I was sorry for ever buying.

Here's what I do:

I don't do PayPal...money orders and cert checks only. If the buyer wants the item bad enough, they'll work around that...remember it's all on them.

I offer no returns, all sales are final. I also never do anything overseas. USA only...international S&H can be an absolute nightmare if you're not prepared for such a thing due to all sorts of fees you wouldn't know were there unless you shipped like that all the time.

Speaking of S&H, remember it's shipping and handling...S&H costs are pretty uniform thru the USPO....but if you don't have a scale..take the weight of the item on it's original box, see what the charge is thru the USPO web site and add a buck and a half to it. That usually works for me.

Use as many pics as you can, full item description and be fully honest in that.

I've been selling things on eBay since 1998 and never had a problem or bad feedback as a result. You'll get the occasional buyer whining about the lack of PayPal or S&H but, in the end, it's all on them.....if they want the item bad enough, they'll conform to your terms.....you set the scene, not them....never let a buyer push you into altering your initial selling terms.

Good luck, you'll be amazed at what you can sell and what people will buy.

You're shafting yourself out of more bids.

Not really....I get an occasional email about it but if the buyer wants the item bad enough, they'll work around that.

That's been my experience anyways.

I tend to agree with this statement, but it also depends on what Hogan is selling. Me personally, I sell things like old video games, some CDs I don't want, stuff along those lines. Meaning, nothing out of the ordinary, that a lot of other people are also selling. Hence, I try to give a ton of options for people to entice more bids on my auction.

But, if you're selling 1 of a kind stuff, rare stuff, then you can set your terms. Although I will tell you, when I buy stuff, if I'm buying something common (i.e., a video game maybe) that a million people are selling, i won't even look at the auctions that don't use PayPal.

So, on the PayPal debate, it really depends on the type of products you're selling. Although I would generally say having a PayPal option generally helps your cause.
