Ok, a couple of rookie questions (not as bad as my questions at the start of last season, asking what a fumble was and why the refs kept throwing those yellow hankies…) for you guys to help me out with.
Just watching the Skins Eagles game, Sportcenter preview comes on “SO, potential new teams for TO”.
I don’t get it. Trade deadline is week 6, which is long gone. So for TO to get a new team this season, he would have to be cut. Now, “cut”, does that mean fired? What happens there? TO has a 7 year contract, so if he is cut/fired, does he get severance? Or is he basically unemployed till he is picked up by another team? What effect does this have on the Eagles? Does this come with no consequence or do they suffer cap penalties or anything?
2nd Question. Halfback, Tailback, Running Back, Fullback.
Running back, Bell/Anderson
Fullback, Kyle Johnson.
Right?
What’s the deal with all these terms?
Cheers for any help,

Question 1: I have no idea what their talking about. TO cant be traded, he can be released and claimed off waivers. Eagles may or may not take a cap hit, i dont know their situation their.
Question 2: Halfback, Running back, Tailback - its all the same thing. Fullback is a little different as like KJ, hes a bit bigger and main role is to block.
Help any???
IMO, TO will be an Egirl for the rest of the year, then next year will be traded or cut. Probably cut, becuase no one will want to give up anything for him when they know the Eagles will prob cut him anyway.

So what does "cut" mean? Fired? DO the Eagles suffer? Does TO get compensation? how does that all work?

By cutting TO, they dump his contract. If someone claims him off of waivers, the new team would take on that contract and owe TO the remaining money on it. If no one claims him, the contract goes away and he's free to negotiate a new deal with any team he wants to. The Eagles would save what's left of TO's base salary this year, and the remaining unamortized portion of his signing bonus would accelerate to the Eagles' '06 cap.

Ya, hes "fired" is what cut means. TO gets ntohing in some cases, but in other cases he might get the remaining of the year.
Hercules knows more on that than i do. But i believe if they cut him TO gets nothing and Eagles suffer in 06 cap.
