View Full Version : Larry Triplet and His Crew

Does anyone else find it amazing that these guys have jobs? Week in and week his crew is involved in bad calls and letting the home crowd influence the way they call the game.
Again… today the Ravens and Bengals, again… a huge call affecting the potential outcome of the game. 14-6 Bengals when they fumble and the Ravens run it back for the touchdown... right??? No.. .they ruled it a fumble and blew the play dead... understandable... IF THERE WAS A PILE UP! The ball was fumbled and bounced right up into the defenders hand... he took off running... made it all the way to the end zone only to get the bogus news! That’s a game changer! And that’s the problem with this crew... they are always involved in GAME changing plays...
When the Refs start affecting the out come of games... they need to be held responsible. If it happens to your crew once a year... that’s to be expected... but with Larry, Moe and Curley... it seems to be a regular occurrence! The league needs to step up and hold them responsible! PUBLICALLY... none of this behind the scenes crap... it doesn't work... Case in point... (And yes this is hear say... but with the actions of this crew on the field... it sounds like behavior becoming such people) I talked to one of my buddies from Colorado what went to the NY game and they told me that they ended up on the same flight as a couple officials from that game... The officials were joking and laughing about the ass chewing they were going to get later that week for the job they did. They weren't worried about it... they just shrugged it off! This is why I think they need to be securitized publicly! Hold them accountable!

Sorry about the rant,

only one problem though, you said the crowd influences the outcome but yet the Ravens were at home and that happened.

Refs do need to be reigned in I think. Let the guys play. I've seen so many flags thrown for "roughing" the passer when the guy was barely touched it's ridiculous.

Their excuse was an inadverdant whistle. Its true, though, Triplett's crew is involved in controversy regularly.

I still think Mike Carey is the worst ref in the League, though. I saw his crew work a St Louis/New Orleans game a few weeks ago that could have been used as an instructional video by the League on how not to officiate a football game.

The NFL needs to change to full time officials. It'd cost more but significantly increase the quality of the product on the field because a) refs would spend the off-season working on their game as well, improving their ability to call plays and b) they'd be full time employees who wouldn't want to loose their job, therefore feeling more accountable for mistakes and poor calls.

The money can't seriously be an issue when you deal with tv contracts in the billions. Throwing a little extra money to get quality officiating shouldn't break anyone's bank account.

But then the fatcats who run the League can't stock the referee pool with cronies.

No ref is worse than that roid-raging douchebag the Chiefs had last week.

It seems every game he has to put HIS mark on it with a call. And it's always a bad one...

There should be accountability for refs for blatantly stupid calls.

I never really paid a ton of attention to what the crew is, I always figure it's out of my hands so deal with it...I'm sure the coaches know which ones are nitpickers or blind or both...seems like that crew is both. I have seen his name mentioned again and again and again, and it has to be more than just Tripplet, altho I'm sure he sets the tone for his whole crew...the tripping call against Philly late was absolutely ludicrous...it was completely incidental...the guy was trying to get up...I don't think he even saw the runner...he was on his tummy turned away from the play...was that Tripplet's crew in the Giants game? I think it was...that was a freaking disgrace...one thing that has always amazed me is how it seems like refs try to tilt the for the losing team to make it closer...logically, you would think the team well behind would draw MORE penalties as they grow more desperate and/or start passing more to catch up...after getting up 28-0 against Philly...suddenly alot of calls (some a little questionable in our favor) suddenly became a flurry of calls AGAINST Denver. How can you play a virtually penalty free first half and everything changes after the half? Odd is an underestatement.

While most of these guys are hot shot doctors and lawyers and such...100K is plenty to pay refs. 90 percent of the guys here with qualification would love to quit their day jobs and work half the year for 100k...
