Who cares, the chiefs are no better then when we trounced them earlier in the season. I actually feel pretty confident that barring a major cold snap, we easily go into Arrowhead and walk out with victory. This will be the easiest since DT went AWOL and got booted out of the stadium in 98'.

The Raiders suck. Did we actually count on them to do something right? This team is terrible and I'm glad we get to exploit their sad defense next week. It will be our 4th game over 200 yds rushing this season.

Parity, parity, parity....Parity is why homefield advantage is such a huge factor...Parity is why you guys killed us at the beginning of last season and yet came to Arrowhead and got killed later in the season. the correct play in the situation is to go for the TD. unless u think ur vastly superior to the other team in general except on the 1 yard line.

but given the chiefs oline and fullback and all that. the chance of ramming it home from 1 yard was far higher than making the field goal+winning in overtime.

marty would have kicked the fg though.

Going for the win was an easy decision for dickie the last thing he wanted was a tie going to OT with your D playing like cr@P so the conversion was a must he didn't want to count on his D to get the ball back.So it was either win it now or lose it in OT.

The difference between our two franchises now vs. a month ago when we played? Now we have two half backs that will hit your weak defense up for a 100 yds and we know how to use them...

You used to have two quality backs, now its down to one and he has a head problem on top of all the other late season injury problems he tends to get around this time of year. PLUS, you will be lucky if Roaf can go this round either. Torn hamstring? He might be done for the year.

All this hope and optimism off of a lucky last second win vs. the Faiders. How sad the false sense of hope is.

That is a silly assertion. I'm guessing you are just trying to get a rise out of Bob. The odds of punching in from a couple inches out with a good power RB and behind 3 very good lineman in the middle is about 75-85%...The chances of winning in OT is about 55% and the extra 5% is due to having the home field crowd. Anybody who opts for a 55% chance of winning versus a 75+% chance would be a fool.

Just because you got your heart broken seeing the Chiefs pull that out doesn't mean blood flow should stop going to your brain.

nothing Silly about it. Denver would have most certainly gone for the tie because there is faith in the Bronco Defense to make a stop. the same cannot be said about the Chief defense and Vermin knows that. sure, the odds are up with taking the TD but its a gamble anyway you slice it. a confident coach who believes in his defense takes the 3 and plays for OT.

not good logic, the game is obviously very close. Unless u feel there is some bizzarre set of circumstances that has led it to be close and if u only had a chance to continue the game u could win then u should probably go for it. u can trust ur d to stop and ur o to score, but they've done both at about the same rate as ur opponent has.

another thing worth mentioning is that the chance of making it if u only had one play no matter what is actually higher than the normal chance of making it in from the 1 yard line. lots of goalline playcalling is also looking ahead to the next down, ie the the chance of the play not going badly can be as important as its chance of success.

Avoid what fact fool? The fact that KC has been the best redzone running team in the league for several years now? Or the fact that Bell is horrible in short yardage to this point in his career?

That is a silly assertion. I'm guessing you are just trying to get a rise out of Bob. The odds of punching in from a couple inches out with a good power RB and behind 3 very good lineman in the middle is about 75-85%...The chances of winning in OT is about 55% and the extra 5% is due to having the home field crowd. Anybody who opts for a 55% chance of winning versus a 75+% chance would be a fool.

Just because you got your heart broken seeing the Chiefs pull that out doesn't mean blood flow should stop going to your brain.

For me, whoever won that game today doesn't matter because if the division race stays tight it means we have to stay on top of our game and push ourselves every week for a W.

Well to find the truth we would have to look into dickies pea sized brain it's MY opinon he had no choice to go for it based on the fact he couldn't count on his D to get the ball back in OT he had to avoid OT or lose the game.(If you don't like my opinion i guess you can stuff it) what bell would do is irrelavant.

Who's to say you'll stop McGahee plus did the Bills not fvck up a perfect opportunity to win in NE last week. You're right though at the end of next week we could be tied up then again we could win (no shock there) and you could lose (ditto) and we'd have a 2 game lead again.:giggle:

We've done a solid job against the run this year. Buffalo's anemic passing game doesn't concern me. Gunther is smart enough to stack the line.

You are looking at it from the perspective of a team who has been horrible in redzone scoring the last couple of seasons so it is only natural to want to take the game out of their hands. When you have had the best red zone running team in the league for several years now you have faith you can get a half of a yard and win the game and that is what you do. I understand however as I have watched your backs in crucial short yardage situations several times the last couple years and when you combine the fumbles with the several times of getting stuffed I understand why you would want to kick.

Chiefs only due to injuries...Having your 3 best players in Roaf, Holmes and Surtain out have a way of doing that. The 4th best player in Shields is playing with a bad back, probably our best DT in Sims has been out all year. Staring WR in Parker has missed a good portion. Played today with the top 3 CB's in Surtain, Warfield and McCleon all out at one point when Warfield went out. Starting RT Sampson has missed nearly all season.

You lose that many key players it is impossible not to look worse than expectations. Despite all that only 1 game back and the Donks are coming to Arrowhead and none of the large assortment of injuries are season ending at this point.

Well, as a KC fan, I thought the Chiefs were pretty lucky today. Jordan ran pretty well, but Collins and that offense were pretty predictable with their play calling. If they had tried to wing it out earlier in the game, I think KC would've been in trouble. I don't see how a team (KC) goes from having one of the worst pass defenses in the league and haing their best CB out to shutting down the Raiders with that talent. Something else was a float.

Yes that was a bogus tripping call. I'll admit it. So what?

On the other hand...

The defense did play pretty well. Oakland's strategy aside, Washington/Warfield/Sapp amazingly covered thier WR pretty effectively.

The call on the goal line was absolutely right. If it was on the 2, you kick it. Maybe even on the 1. But it was on about the 1-2 foot line. I personally think the KC offense has a better than 50-50 chance at puncing it in there. Kick the FG and a 50-50 chance is all they have to get the coin toss and both offenses were starting to move the ball well.

I said before the season taht if KC stayed healthy, they could play with anyone. After the first series of the year when Sims went out, they've been struggling to field a healthy team and are still 5-3. Not beaten anyone good? OK (although Washington may classify). But their are a lot of winning teams in the league that that can be said about.

Officiating is pitiful...College and Pro. Bottom line is most of these guys just aren't very good at what they do. It's no big shocker when you think about it cause it is a profession that not very many people even try to take up so you are pulling the best from a small not so distinguished group of candidates.

The gross over protection for QB's has really gotten out of hand. I'm all for protecting them but taking it to the extreme level that we see bogus calls like the one on Allen a couple times every week.

One rule I personally think they need to get rid of is Intentional Grounding. I don't like the rule because it brings in too much subjective judgment which is never good when dealing with officials. But in the day and age that you are trying to protect QB's at an extreme level it also makes sense from that standpoint. It would allow QB's to get rid of the ball quicker under extreme pressure and avoid a lot of big hits. It's not like that pressure on the QB all of the sudden wouldn't be rewarded because if your pressure causes the QB to just throw it away and burn a down then it was rewarded and successful. Sure getting the sack yardage is nice but forcing them to throw it away is still a very successful play and a nice reward for your efforts. I would much rather see this then the mickey mouse flags coming out every time a defensive player just breathes on the QB.

Consistency is all I ask. If you know what you can get away with as a defense, there is no excuse.

Take the KC/Carolina game last season. Delhomme is at the goal line and gets spun around by a linebacker at throws a hail mary into the endzone that is caught for a TD. Later, in the same game, Trent gets his Jersey tugged at from behind and escapes and completes a pass for a first down, but the official ruled him in the grasp. No consistency at all.

If you get rid of the intentional grounding rule all together you get rid of that garbage and you take out all the subjective garbage of did he throw it away under duress or not...was a receiver in the area, was he not....was the QB really throwing to a receiver and made a horrible pass, was he throwing to a receiver the the Dlineman hit his arm enough to keep him from getting it in the area of the receiver? All that needs to go. It should be legal to throw the ball away or it shouldn't. Think about it, why does a QB throw the ball away when nothing is open yet not immediately under pressure? To avoid the sack that would be coming eventually...So you are throwing it away to avoid a sack then why does it matter if the Dlineman is immediately on you or will soon be? Get rid of the rule, as it should be perfectly legal to throw the ball away and lose a down if you choose and that is still a nice reward to the defense and you better protect the QB which is apparently their number one goal anymore.

Blessing the Chiefs with a victory? Hell, I was laughing at their pathetic excuse for a defense. I was treated by another pethetic excuse for a defense on the other side of the ball... If anything, it was a blessing to see just how weak both teams were yesterday.

Havent you guys been losing most of the road games? You probably will beat the Raiders though. It will be the passing of the torch to the new Faders of the AFC West. The recent habit of late season slides with the Broncos, it's only fair they relinquish thier crown.

It may not be as prestigious as the preseason championship ring you won this year, but I feel you will wear it well.

The Miami game was an anomaly, because we have been playing very well since Week 1. We went down to Jacksonville and won. The Giants game was a heartbreaker, but I don't expect future road games to end up like that. I think Collins is in real trouble with Al Wilson and company bearing down on him...

well of course theres the 3 corners we picked that are better than your whole secondary combined.

You should make a slight correction here.

You chose 3 corners this season. But you spent crazy dollars in FA over the last several years. You have spent several picks on CBs in attempt to buy talent the Broncos could not develop. Then Finally you trade your best offensive player to pick up a DB that cost half the cap. After getting beat way more than a corner of that cost should get beat, Planny is back in the same boat. Too much money, tied up in a player that does not justify the cost.

So finally, takes the quantity over quality approach in the draft and spends half the picks on CBs. So after several years, and several players, and several failed projects, he finally get's a little bit of something, if for no other reason than sheer numbers.

Hell, if the chiefs brought 150 CBs through the organization in the last few years, they might hit on a player with potential. But who would do that?

Yeah Planny has really built a powerhouse secondary. Arent they in the bottom half of the league? Anyhow, I think KCs defense is giving up 20 yards a game more than the Donks and getting better. While the Broncos continue to show weakness. Especially in the second half of games.

If we ever get our starting secondary in the game at the same time, there is no question they would be better than Denver. They practically are now with the backups.

For now however, I will let you have bragging rights on your secondary. I mean, you guys sure paid for it. ROFL!

ive held the same philosophy with regards to refs for a long time now.

a good team needs to find a way to win games despite some bad calls.
theyre not all going to go your way, so you better figure out how to overcome them.
that said, a bad call is still a bad call.

we shouldve won the game regardless (especially considering the 13 point lead), but a few of the calls were so horrendous as to require review by the officiating committee.
the block in the back during lelies catch and run simply didnt happen.
the holding call on foster was questionable at best.
fine with me if you want to call it, but to call that (especially on the heels of the bad call on lelies catch), you damn well better call it both ways, and gerard warren was running in place on a few different occasions.
fact is, those were two bad calls, and they cost us points.

yes, we shouldve won the game anyway, but that doesnt change that those were game changing calls, and VERY bad ones.

What does champ have to do with this? I merely said our 3 rookies are better than your your secondary combined. THEY STAY OUT OF JAIL TOO!Yikes!

Since you bring Champ up he won the game for us against the chargers this year, Foxworth did the same in TWO games once against the Jags and another against the Eagles. I have yet to see your secondary do anything productive as was the case this week, you want to know why Vermeil went for it at the end of the game? Your secondary sucked and he didnt have faith in the defense pulling it off in OT.

The chiefs would considering their crappy secondary.

Not too long ago Antonio Gates ripped your secondary a new hole, i mean literally a new hole. If you looked at the stats for that game you would wonder if the secondary paid attention to Gates at all. Rod Smith owned the chiefs again earlier this year, Eagles started throwing the ball and made an improbable comeback, Fade come back from a 9-20 defecit by throwing the ball.

Enjoy your 6-2 record but dont get too comfortable. You wont get to play in your house all season. Those second half disappearing acts by your defense will come back to bite you soon enough.

Champ is over rated. He is a good corner. But not a 60 million dollar man. You see the difference between you and I, is the fact that I dont pretend the Chiefs D backs are the best in the game. Those rooks have made several mistakes this season. Benny Sapp makes plays too. He get's beat too. But one of the reasons is because they go at him a lot. It doesn't make him a good player.

Finally, what is that dance that Bailey does when get get burned for a long gainer? It's good to see that the rooks aren't pulling up when they get beat. But then they dont have the responsibility of upholding a reputation that quite frankly, is overblown.

The dance is kinda cool though. What do you call that?

He is upholding his rep moron.....

So who's the best corner? We solicited the help of some of the game's best receivers to find out. Not surprisingly, Bailey was mentioned a bunch. In our mind, he's the best. But Baltimore's Chris McAlister received a lot of support from the players as well.

Michael Clayton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: "Champ Bailey. He's strong and quick and everywhere he goes he tries to stick on you. He brings it to another level when he competes."

Drew Bennett, Tennessee Titans: "Champ Bailey. He has it all. He's fast. He's quick. He can do it all. He's definitely the best I've faced so far. He's a lockdown guy. He's the guy their coach can say, 'You take him. I don't want to see him catch any balls.' I only caught two balls against him last year; it was a good challenge. There were some routes he covered me on that I hadn't been covered on the previous weeks. It was a challenge. Playing him makes me want to play better."

Andre Johnson Houston Texans: "Champ Bailey. Right now Champ's the only guy who can still go out and play the No. 1 receiver man to man. That makes him special. I haven't played against a lot of corners since this is my third year, but he's the best. Another one to watch is Jacksonville's Rashean Mathis. We've had some good battles"

I bet it does considering the best CB you've drafted now plays in Cinci...

Do you have a point rash?

Problem is we arent comparing the defensive line numbnuts we are talking about the corners.

You do realize that you are overstaing how good your secondary is, don't you? Do you really feel like your 2 rookie corners are better than Warfield and Surtain?

If you really want to beat this dead horse, then go ahead. Tell us all just how good your rookie corners are and why they are better than Warfield and Surtain.

I was willing to conceed the point about your secondary being better than ours. Not because I really feel that they are but because it's hard to argue the point when looking at the numbers.

But when you come straight out and say these two rooks are soooooo good that they are better than Warfield and Surtain, I have to call BS. Not only are they not better, but neither of those rooks are better than Warfield.

I can appreciate your excitement. But those guys haven't done jack. Except get thrown at a lot.

I can tell you without one doubt in my mind

when Champ is at least 90%, we are about 50% better than your secondary....on a bad day

I thought he was saying the 2 rookies were better than Warfield and Surtain. I guess until Champ get's on the field, he will continue to be the "best CB in the NFL". It's hard to get beat deep sitting on the bench. But when he's in, he's been getting beat.

However, Bailey was not the issue. It was the rookie corners he was talking about.

Do you agree with him that the rooks are better than our 2 starting CBs?

as of right now?

I know they are better than "toast" Warfield, but Surtain is probably better right now

now...next year...with a year under their belts...and only getting better, I say they will be better

but as of right now.......Surtain is better, but Warfield has sucked baws for a long time and there is no changing that

What, that he had to pay a bet?

Wow.

You really got him on that one.

No one has ever had to pay off a bet before. Call the newspapers.

Wow, this has been a pure strike-out post for the Donks. First we beat the Raiders, now we beat them. I guess rest well their last big win in Big-D. To bad we couldn't have loaned Dallas a kicker for the day!!

You're right, Meck's bet didn't blow up in his face at all. He totally came out on top here.
