During his prep football days, Plummer was a two-time all-state quarterback. He passed for 6,097 yards and 68 touchdowns in his final two years. He completed 205 of 297 passes (69 percent) and rushed for 645 yards and 10 scores as a senior. He was a two-time all-Idaho selection as quarterback and punter.

interesting.. why not use him as a back up punter LOL

He could always do the pooch kick on 4th down. Line up like you are going for it, put Plummer in the shotgun formation, snap the ball and let him kick it.

Hell, Rothlisburger did it just the other week, and did a fine job I must say.

That would be great to have if we are just out of FG range and don't want to risk a runback for a score.

He never had to punt in HS - trust me I know. He single handedly beat the shiat out of teams.

So that's why he's had so much practice holding.

I've been watching football for thirty years, and for the life of me, I can't remember hearing the terms "back up" and "punter" in the same sentence.

I guess I vaguely remember one year when Jason Elam had to do some punting in a game, after Tom Rouen (if I remember correctly) got hurt.

So, sure - I guess Jake Plummer could be the back-up punter. Why not?

I remember Broncos appearing to go for it on 4th down with Elway in the Shotgun and he dropped back and punted the ball within the 5 yrd line. It was a 30+ yard punt and pinned the opponent on their own 3. I remember being so young that I couldn't for the life of me understand why people were cheering that we had punted instead of going for it.

Ben Roethlisberger did that in the MNF game.

Jake, why didn't you speak up last year instead of making all of us suffer through Jason Baker? Maybe you really don't like us.

Last year, he apparently just wanted to get the hell off the field as quickly as possible. That explains all the INTs...Knowitall
