Tedy Bruschi's Best Moments On Sunday Night (http://eod.liquidviewer.com/wgr-od/wgr/20051031_bruschipbp-1.wma)
This is hilarious.
I got sick of the Teddy talk.
Teddy can do all...

Yes, it's so much better when all of the attention is focused on the real good guys like Terrell Owens and Ray Lewis.

No kidding... they were lined up to blow this guy on ESPN this morning.

Good point.... its just annoying when the east coasters have anything on the Pats to crow about.

ESPN did go overboard with the coverage, but its hard to hate on Bruschi. Last night, Suzy Kolber tried to interview him after the game and Bruschi avoided her and ran to the locker room. Bruschi just wants to be a part of the team and play football. He could care less for the media attention.

Yeah, I did laugh at that. 'Teddy!!!' and he never looked at her.

If anything, Bruschi is almost comically underrated.
Hard to believe the media would hype up a guy returning from a stroke. Now if he would have pulled a cell phone out on the field, I could see making a fuss about him.

I saw his wife in the stands, and she looked nervous about Tedy's return like she was waiting for something bad to happen. I don't blame her. Attempting a comeback to a violent game from a stroke is risky, at best.

Oh come on. There has been a hospital worth of Doctors who've given him the thumbs up. He's a good guy and and that he made it back that far means he deserves to come back.

I'd have a hard time giving the thumbs up to repetative blunt trauma on a fresh-out-of-rehab ischemic brain... but I'm a surgeon, not a neurologist...

I agree with you, but I'll never pass up a chance to poke fun at the media. I don't know if anyone caught the Giants game this weekend, but by the end of the game they had you believing that the Spirit of Wellington Mara had possessed everyone in a Giants uniform. I kept looking for the Disney cameras for an upcoming "Angels in the Back Field" movie.
It reminds me of that Bang Cartoon where Theismann, McGwire and Dan Patrick were fawning over Michael Vick doing the duty (http://www.bangcartoon.com/vickspecial.htm).
All that said, I do think Bruschi (and due repsect to Mr. Mara) is a big deal. The guy is a champion, and it's always good to see champions triumph against the odds. He's a supremely likable guy who you'd be a fool not to want on your team.

Not only did Bruschi shun Suzy, but then he decides to trot into the locker room with a dozen cameramen lugging tv cameras on their shoulders puffing to keep up. It was hilarious.
I think the media is piling on because they have to build the guy up for anyone to care. What the media is secretly hoping for is to see the guy do a Hank Gathers/Reggie Lewis there on the field so they can all do their "I told you so"s. It's sort of like how they feel compelled to follow President Bush around in hopes they'll be the only news cameras handy should he ever take a bullet. The media wants ratings. The only reason they build people up is so it will draw an audience when they broadcast the inevitable fall.
News media - the virtual embodiment of ghouls.

WTF, Teddy is out on the field making millions of dollars, playing a game he loves, and they act like he's a ****ing god for doing it. He's not doing anything heoric.

Dude, He was blind in one eye 9 months ago. One of the primary reasons he is coming is to inspire other stroke survivors . Taking shots at stroke survivors is risking the wrath of the football gods.

I thought Mike Patrick was calling the Sox Winning the series when Brewski wiffed on the tackle on the end around early in the game on Sunday. The guy wiffed & yet they were talking about how he didn't get fooled...just wiffed on the tackle is all.
BTW I thought I saw a stat late in the game that said he had 11 tackles I saw in the paper the next day that he only had 2 with 5 assists. Whats up with that?

You got that right.....he handled it all like the pro he is....very admirable.
He returned from a stroke and played at a top level.....I haven't seen anything like it since Mario Lemieux came back after all the crap he went through (and everyone knows, Mario isn't human....he's a step or two beyond mortal man).
How anyone couldn't admire his return and performance I'll never fathom.

Thanks Ratboy, Rep, that was the funniest thing ive heard in a long time.

yeah, its tiresome...the guy decided to play football, not cause world peace. Seems the NFL media obsesses over every individual problem and tragedy for the sake of some 'story'. We'll see slo mo pics, montages and music. Barf...the game was more about his wife's reaction to every play than anything happening on the field.

His comeback is remarkable, but there been many other comebacks that went unnoticed that were just as remarkable.

From Something Awful:
"And number one is Tedy Bruschi, the Patriots linebacker who suffered a fatal stroke three days after last year's Pro-Bowl and rose from the dead to play in this Sunday's game against the Bills. The fact that he was able to recover and give an average and in no way spectacular performance which somehow singlehandedly won the whole game without his teammates is perhaps the most significant event in the course of human history, and judging from this poll our viewers overwhelmingly agree:
http://i.somethingawful.com/mjolnir/images/ctstalker~2005-11-05-sc04.gif
Chris Berman: Every single person in Gillette stadium cried in joy for the entire duration of the game until their tear ducts were so overworked that they bled and then they all just kept crying blood. Tedy was so inspirational that the entire stadium literally separated from the Earth and hovered several feet above the ground. I would gladly give my own life for Tedy Bruschi, but then again if he needed it he would simply take it by willing it to happen before I knew what was coming. He is an incredibly noble and beautiful creature that can not even be considered a human being because he is obviously the next evolutionary step forward, if not a god of some sort. If all were right in the world, humanity would be ruled by the noble and just triumvirate of Tedy Bruschi, Michael Vick, and Brett Favre. We would hibernate in the offseason in order to stay awake during the entirety of the rest of the year so we could properly bear witness to Bruschi's holy acts of greatness.
Stewart Scott: Thanks Chris! Tedy Bruschi is indeed as cool as the other side of the banana. We'll be back in a minute folks, but in the meantime enjoy this commercial break featuring an ad for SportsCenter which is infinitely more entertaining and informative than the actual show itself. "

You're white and everyone hates you.
But I haven't done anything heroic like TO has, If I did, I'd be treated like a god (just like how Bruschi has been treated since his return). Look at how much publicity old quarterbacks on the verge of retirement get, Then look at the attention Warren Moon got (or lack of cuz he got none) but thats just a case of him being black. If Brett Favre were black we'd probably not even know that he might be retiring in the next couple of years.
