I work at a Company that does it's buisiness from Denver to the East Coast, and some of my clients are residents of the greater Philadelphia area....

Which brings me to one particular associate that is visiting this weekend, just to find an excuse to come to Denver and go to see the 'Iggles' (as they are called back there) as a fringe benefit.

So, needless to say, I have been hearing PhillyFanz smack all week about how he's gonna come out here, drink our beer, and watch his Birdz go back to Philly with the 'W'.

Well, all I know is that I am hoping that this kid doesn't paint himself all green and get too drunk if his precious Bridz get smacked...

Me? I think this game is one of the major Cornerstones of the entire season for the Broncos....if we can bouce back and take this game, we go into the break at
6-2, and still poised for a very strong run at the AFC West Title coming down the stretch...

But, if we chump this one, and lose....then we are 0-2 going into the BYE week, with FIVE remaining road games left for the second-half of the season, which could trigger another slide into say 9-7, and missing the Playoffs entirely....I mean, if we lose to Philly, is it unconceivable we could lose after our BYE in Oakland?....add to that road stops in KC and in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day....a season ending road contest at SD to close out the season...not to mention a potentially frigid visit to Buffalo in the winter...in other words....the tougher part of the season is on the horizon for the Broncos...to lose a home game in October, even to a team such as Philly, would be a setback for the Broncos to be sure.

They say NFL teams are creatures of habit...what bothers me as a Bronco fan is that I seem to be sitting in the same Theatre in a strange 'Groundhog Day'-like Bronco movie where the Broncos get off to a 5-1 or 6-2 start, only to lose critical games down the stretch, and slide into 9-7 or 10-6 finish, in the process blowing their golden opportunity to win the West, have a BYE week, and play a home Playoff game at Investco for a change.

This week against the 'Iggles', this surreal Bronco movie is about to begin again...

Will the second-half of our 2005 season have a different ending this time?

Funny how in the off-season everyone talked about our first 8 games being the really hard stretch... now that weve dominated it, the last 8 are gonna be "rough". We've beaten some great teams and will continue to do so.

KC still hasnt played NE. KC still hasnt played San Diego. KC still hasnt played... etc.

We started strong. We win this weekend. We finish strong with the AFC W title and homefield.

After this game with the Egirls, I think our toughest work is behind us. That's not to say we can roll over. I would just rather play our 2nd 8 games as opposed to our first 8 games.

Dude, you think it's tough dealing with Egirl fan this week. Try dealing with them an entire lifetime. So freaking painful bro!

As if this game isn't pressure enough for me, you have to show me your pessimist side and now I have to worry about a slide on top of being disgraced by everyone who knows me for the rest of the year. Thanks Bro!

Hey, this 'second-half' slide thing is Shanahan's deal, not mine.

I was merely making an observation.

I don't know that I would use te word 'dominated' for barely holding on against the Redskins, and the Patriots JV squad...to say we 'dominated' thiose games is to suggest we finished the deal....which clearly we did not.....we simply hung on...

Gameplans change when you have a lead like that. Check the "Win" column.

I see your point.

On a side note, the last game I went to at the old Mile High (or the only Mile High Stadium, because the new stadium is NOT Mile High) was against Philly. TD had a monster game and it was beautiful watching him rack up huge yardage in the first half. The game was over by half time, and I was three sheets to the wind, loving every minute of watching the Iggles get destroyed... those were the days.

Anyhoo, I digress.

I think its important for the Broncos to bounce back after a a disappointing loss to the Giants. I have a feeling the Broncos are gonna play well against the Iggles...

Weird things happen.
The Giants may have won for Mara...
The Broncos will give it their all for The House!

I think the common perception is that the second half of the season will be more difficult because 5 of the 8 games are on the road, not to mention the 'short week' for the Thanksgiving game vs. Dallas.

The good news is that, well, for one, Denver gets an extra 3 days of prep for the trip to Kansas City, so that gives the media an extra few days to torment the coaches & players with memories of last year...I, Patrick Saunders & others will make certain they hear about it every day.

In addition, Baltimore sucks, so it will be particularly sweet to kick these bastages all over the field...assuming Kyle Boller hasn't returned...oh, the fear.

good point, the road games are going to be tough. I dont wanna see a 5-3 record, but if it happens, so be it, many teams would love to have a winning record going into the 2nd half of the year.

Now this game i actually think we will win. TO should be somewhat neutralized, and with no running game, the DL should be able to concentrate and stop the screens.
Now if we can get a few holding calls, i think we will actually get a sack.

I mean, if we lose to Philly, is it unconceivable we could lose after our BYE in Oakland?

Norv Turner and Al Davis must be shaking in their boots knowing that Shanahan will have 2 weeks to prepare for their pathetic team...

Anyway...that's after the bye. The point is well taken, though. It would suck to be on a two game losing streak going into the bye...

You can also look at it from this standpoint. By the time we play teams like the Ravens, Jets, Raiders (2nd game) and possibly even the Chargers their seasons could be over with no possibility of playoff action. The most difficult games on the back 9 come together, Dallas and KC on the road. If we could even win the latter of those 2 the division's in the bag IMO.

Boller is expected to play Monday against the Steelers. But the funny thing is how bad the line and Jamal Lewis have played this year. Lewis is due to the ankle injury and no recovery training in the slammer. The line just got old overnight.

I'm optimistic about the dullass game. As we saw last week, Den, esp on the road, lays eggs against teams they should beat even when statistically there's no way they should have lost. Den's really not much different than many teams, but having a coach for a long time does, imo, increase the liklihood .. . players get a routine. Not bitching, and I'd rather have shanny than any coach in the game. But, the team will be "up" for a national game on turkey day.

Don't get too corky. KC might take 1st place this week.

And the Chiefs may be a full two games out partner. Works both ways.

It's a 17 week NFL season........ anything is possible at anytime.

FTR, I see KC and Dever deadlocked at 11-5 for the AFC West. KC will get the division based on the Miami game.( providing the division records are the same ):poke:
