Bill Simmons, the Sportsguy on ESPN.com Page 2. He's always a fun read, but he's a big Pats fan and not much of a Denver guy.
GIANTS (-2) over Broncos
During the fourth quarter of the Giants-Cowboys game, Eli unveiled the Eli Manning Face for about 15 minutes ... then it went away and he turned into a young Tom Brady down the stretch. But it was fun to see the Eli Face again -- all that was missing was the Chargers hat and the awkward handshake with Paul Tagliabue.
Anyway, I still believe in the Giants. And in case you believe in the Broncos, lemme remind you of three things: they started 5-1 each of the past two seasons; Tatum Bell rushed for nearly 10 yards a carry (25 for 241) over the last two games, which would almost certainly shatter every rushing record known to man if it continues; and there's a reason they call Jake "The Snake." Let's see them win a tough one on the road before we pull out the popsicles here.
(Random Denver note: The city obliterated the record for "Most stoned people at a Simmons signing" on Wednesday night. Next time, I'm handing out complimentary Visine with each book.)

Guess the Jacksonville game doesn't count as a tough one on the road.

Really....and if Denver wins this one, why do I get the feeling that it won't count either as far as "tough ones on the road" go to these jaded hacks.

I love to read some of Simmon's stuff, he can be really funny. See his take on Tommy Maddox in that same article. Overall, though, he doesn't do that well with his picks so who cares what he thinks?
Oh, and you would have to be high to buy his book about the Red Sox. This explains all the stoned people at his signing.

If we win, it will be because Eli was off his game, or some lame excuse... :pity:

They'll just say "Well, the Giants defense is horrible" etc. etc.
Too bad the Bronx haven't played a killer schedule like Cincy and Indy then they wouldn't have to prove themselves so much. :giggle:

Don't get me started on Bill Simmons.
For those of you who are familiar with him, do any of you get the impression that he is the perfect example of something he regularly talks about - jumping the shark?
First, he moves to Los Angeles.
Then he allows that completely horrible cartoon about his own life - I haven't seen it lately, so I am hoping they mercifully killed it.
Then he goes on and on and on and on about the Red Sox and the Patriots. Fine, he admits he's a fan, which is part of why I liked him to begin with. But come on! He still writes for a national audience. Okay, we know you really like the Red Sox. We know that they haven't won in a long time. We know they won, and now you're really happy. We know all these things, and we friggen get it. MOVE ON!
Then, he has that stupid intern contest. They drag on for, I don't know, six years, or something ridiculous. The only purpose for the whole thing, as best as I can tell, is to have Bill Simmons groupies praise all that is Bill Simmons.
Holy cow! The guy goes from being pretty unique and very funny...to the male sports version of Paris Hilton.

My buddy and I used to love Simmons but when he went to work writing for Kimmel's show it all went to hell. He still has his moments but the are few and far between. Too bad really.

I guess it would take one being high to get a book signed by someone who puts out this drivel.

What Simmons doesn't understand is that you have to be stoned to think his rants are even slightly amusing. I have literally never remotely understood paying for a hardcover book that should of come out in paperback in first edition, then standing in line to have some pompus ass scribble in it. Only a few, and they are both dead...Hunter Thompson and Hemmingway. Oh, I wouldn't mind an autographed copy of Mein Kaumf...that sucker would be worth a few baggies of the good stuff. I would of been rather nervous to be in any line Hitler formed tho...it would of probably had an exit door that let to a cattle car....

At the risk of sounding like Zach, doesn't it get tiring complaining about how all of the media is against the Broncos?

No one seems to remember tha Jake has a ton of comebacks in his career. With the game on the line I trust him with the ball and to make the right decisions. This guy is a clown and will probably wait till late in the season to eat crow.

Simmons is great to read, but he makes no illusions about being a Bronco backer.
He disses Jake almost every time. He's had Shanahan on a "Hot Seat" list all year and now he's just starting to back off on that one.
The only game he's picked us against the spread so far is KC ( pretty sure ).
Plus we just beat his NE Patriots. You don't think Bill Simmons cringes every time he see's Elway vs NE career record or hears the National Guard sound byte?

yeah rep, jake has like 22 comeback wins, might be 23 with the chargers victory this year. Leads the league among active players with the most comeback wins ( yes more than TOM TERRIFIC). He made some crucial throws at the end of the game against the Patriots so I dont see why Plummer would fail in crucial situations....
