I love the Chiefs because the rivalry we have makes for some of the best football of the year. With that said... it makes them getting eaten alive by the Dolphins that much sweeter. Let's hope the phins have a little game left!

That's true... but Taylor is a warrior. KC has to travel on a short week, with little notice and now its a game with more attention.

The NFL better be hoping Wilma doesn't change her mind and head that way sooner instead of later. Keeping people in the Miami area longer for a football game is taking a chance for sure when they should be evacuating.

You don't know that they would've played on Sunday for sure. You queeffans are right that it could be more beneficial to the Chokes b/c they have some injuries that won't have more time to heal...but there's no guarantee either way.

I see The Chiefs blowing this one big also. Even the games they have won they have looked like crap this season. I expect The Chiefs to finish 3rd in the division. Oh well, as long as they sweep Oakland for a 3rd straight season it won't be a complete loss.

Yup, I live in Springfield which is about 3 hours away. In normal conditions I catch most every game. I called my local CBS station and was told they can't show it due to contractual obligations with the NFL. So I called the NFL...and this is a post from CP I made...
I called the number which seemed to put me at the NFL national office. I talked to a very confused receptionst who kept wanting to transfer me to DirecTV. I kept trying to explain to her that DirecTV has nothing to do with my problem. After giving her some ideas of who to transfer me to I was sent over to thier "Media Relations" department.
The guy was named Josh and was very helpful. After explaining the situaiton and my conversation with KOLR he took some time to look into it. After some time on hold he said that he couldn't quite figure out the nature of what was going on without a guy around who deals with "broadcast" type things. He took my information and said that they would contact me with more info on the Springfield situation as it became available. So now im just hopin they call me back.

This is just classic. Here everyone was worried about the Chiefs getting an extra home game, and it turns out that they get this instead. I would be kind of angry if I was them. The Dolphins will end up with at least one extra day of preparation - a big advantage on such a short week.

The teams won't have to worry about evac...they will just take the bus to their charter planes and leave the natives to fend for themselves. I agree tho, this is an odd storm. Very small eye, and it's expected to get caught in a strong westerly which should tear it up somewhat, altho they are saying it's slow getting there (the westerly) and further north than thought, Wilma is taking her sweet ass time even getting to Cancun...(Just like a woman to be late huh...)

I actually think this is kind of lame. The reason they gave was their long-standing policy about not wanting to compete with Friday Night HS football. I respect that. But these are pretty unique circumstances, and ESPN was willing to work out the logistics to get the game televised nationally.
I pay for NFL Sunday Ticket, and this is a game I would have been watching for at least part of the day on Sunday.

You have a point about the competition. The local Topeka radio station is pre-empting their usual high school football coverage to broadcast the Cheaps game. Why can't the TV affiliates in America do the same? ???

I don't understand what unique circumstances have to do with anything. Obviously ESPN was "willing to work out the logistics". They're a bunch of soulless, valueless, bottom line **********s. I think its a nice change of pace to see the NFL maintain their ethics for once and not just grab the money.

I'm really pissed at the NFL now. They guaranteed the Chiefs they would not have to play on Friday last night. The Dolphins had agreed to come to KC.
WTF is wrong with the NFL?
I can't believe that Chief fans actually thought that would happen after the crap Tag took from the other NFC East teams for the Giant "home" game. Besides, Tag likes us better. Nnyah!
"We'd like to have it a different way, but we have no choice," Vermeil said. "If the New Orleans Saints can go do what they had to do, then the Kansas City Chiefs can go do it one weekend. The guys are in a good frame of mind. They accepted it. We don't need any excuses to play poorly."

Miami's offense is 5th from the bottom in TOP...and their D ranked 6th, a major accomplishment considering how long those old guys are on the field. I don't know if they can stop KC's offense consistently enough to win. This won't be a 120 degree heat day for them to rely on. And as bad as KC's defense is maligned if they hadn't played Denver yet they'd be leading the NFL in rushing defense. Frerotte has found his natural level as a backup masquerading as a starter now so I think the Chiefs pull this out by 4-7 points.

Just got news on the local 980 AM...no national telecast of the game, and you can't get it even with Direct TV. So unless you can hear it on radio, the whole thing's a bust. I'm surprised the NFL couldn't make better arrangements than this.
NFL network will show the game on a later date, not sure what the schedule will be though, probably sometime on Saturday.
A multibillion dollar corporation can't get one of their own games to air nationally, yet can jam a displaced team into a large media market? Makes no sense...

I don't understand what unique circumstances have to do with anything. Obviously ESPN was "willing to work out the logistics". They're a bunch of soulless, valueless, bottom line corksuckers. I think its a nice change of pace to see the NFL maintain their ethics for once and not just grab the money.
Yeah, I'm glad they made the decision. Friday night should be HS ball. U of Southern Miss (faver's school) resheduled one on Fri last year, and it was critized, rightfully so. They are going to broadcast it tape delay on Sunday, so the locals who want to see the tape can.

Rare for me to feel any sympathy for the NFL, because they're notoriously arrogant in the way they handle their business. That's why its kind of funny to see them still get criticized for doing what's right.

It is good for the NFL to support high school and college football and not just make it another night to get Ad revenue or whatever.. But still, it woulda been cool to get an extra night of NFL.

After reading several KC boards i have never seen such snot slinging over this early game, are the chefs worried about not being able to beat the fins? They think their team is superior to all others the chef fan had a hardy laugh when the fins pulled our pants down and spanked us saying we lost to the bottom feeders. Now i sense the cheffies are a bit worried that they cannot handle the fins either and i for one find it funnier than he11!

This is BS on the broadcast. I was looking forward to getting home around 4 pm and watching the Chiefs get smashed. There goes my Friday.
People pay Directv for every game. It's not fair that they can't give people what they paid for. The NFL needs to realize that these teams have a fan base outside of KC and Mia. If they did this to the Broncos I'd be pissed.

Wow...looks like they jumped the gun on moving the game up now...Wilma is taking her sweet time...won't get to Florida till Monday...still, better safe than sorry...plus, people can watch the game then get out of dodge. I am still wondering if that thing is going to take such a strong turn to the east as they say...Wilma seems pretty determined to bide her time till that strong westerly passes....she is pretty headstrong and is butting heads at this point...She wants to keep going west, and the westerly to the north wants to push her east...fast...this guy on the weather channel talked about the "cork in the stream" method of forecasting where a cane will go. It simply takes the path of least resitance and flows down the weather stream like a cork in water.

Because Saban's deal w/da debble only lasted one day. Maimi needs Wannstadt back.....

Hey, Did anyone hear that the Offensive Coordinator of the Eagles may be the new head coach of the Vikes next season? I just heard it on the local radio...I'll see if I can find a link anywhere...

You mean Mock's not going to coach the Vikings? Now, THAT would make for some entertaining TV... ;)

As long as he had a cabinet full of meds to treat his emotional instability I think he would be able to outcoach Tice in his sleep....Starting to think most could however.

The Vikes are Bushleague - they are way under the cap - pay their head coach nothing - which shows b/c he has no business being a head coach. They were cheap asses and wouldn't match miami's offer to their off cord and he bolted

Tice was fined 100k for that ticket scalping - and he only makes 1 mil a year - which is very low compared to other head coaches - hell, I bet Kubiak and Saunders make more as off cord's and Monty Kiffen (sp?) makes more for sure

I'm guessing the Donks just have a way of bringing out the best in other teams... ;) Kinda like Mike Tyson looking really good against Peter McNeely but no so good against Holyfield.

If Mike Tice was paid 100k per year he would be overpaid by about 75k....He should have been the original Meathead on Archie Bunker.

I would of kicked the meathead out of the state, not just Viking's headquarters. This slut boat thing and their falling on their face with the whizzinator and the horrible pick of that WR at #7 has me up in arms. Williamson...what a stupid pick... I honestly can't believe they haven't hired an interim head coach...three weeks ago. Now the new stadium looks dead again. People are pissed. I'm seeing red dots at this point. Yes I could coach that team better, I am sure I get the existing play book, I bring in someone who knows what the hell they are doing...hell...I even dig up Bud Grant....and he's alive...Smoot was obviously a big mistake.
The staff can hardly be called a staff...it's like a skeleton crew on some old destroyer. I mean real skeletons...at the bottom of the North Atlantic...3000 fathoms...
I'm fine...mock isn't pissed, he's not ready to take the Model 12 to Viking headquarters...he's not planning a coup....I am not taking blood pressure medicine before watching them...Mock certainly isn't talking in the 3rd person...Mock's not angry...he's just...concerned....CONCERNED HE'S GOING TO GO UP THERE AND KILL
TICE...
See...It's an ebb and flow thing...teams have their ups and downs...DAMMIT.
