Average line of scrimmage for our opponent: 25.57 yard line; 1st in the nfl
Average yards given up per drive by our D: 28; 20th in the NFL
It would appear that Sauerbrun has helped immensely, as though that were ever in question.
Denver ranks 16th against #1 WRs, 20th vs #2 WRs, and 4th vs Other WRs, 18th vs TEs, and 26th vs RBs catching the ball.
Our offense is 2nd in turnover per drive, at .072
As for this week's game, an early lead would be nice:
Eli when trailing: 77.7 qb rating, 6 sacks, 2 fumbles
Eli when leading: 101.4 qb rating, 2 sacks, 0 fumbles

also keep in mind that Eli's "when trailing" numbers are largely against the awful SD secondary, and the middle-of-the-road Giants(I meant cowboys, I swear).
Of course, it's not like we're that much better than NYG(no, seriously, I did), secondary-wise, but still.

no problem.... just making sure it wasnt a crack that eli's beating himself when trailing. dont put much in stats but good find regardless. rep.

I don't really have the time to figure out the disparity in numbers between qbs when trailing and when ahead, so I'm not sure if the drop-off in Eli's numbers are noteworthy or just the norm, which I guess puts the stat into question. But maybe I'll plunge into that and hopefully net something beyond "oh, actually this is this case for all qbs".
Regardless, thanks for the heads-up.

Im certain its fairly common. Trailing forces a team into passing and kills play-action... defensive lineman can pin their ears back and rush away while everyone else drops into coverage... Colts bread and butter... they know theyre going to take a lead, so they only bring in pass-rush specialists to try and force turnovers... works pretty well.

Ya, I imagine there will almost always be a drop-off in QB production when trailing given your outline, but seeing as how Eli has only been trailing for about 4 full quarters and yet that accounts for 2 of his 3 INTs, and 6 of his 8 sacks, and both fumbles...well, you see what I'm saying.

as a comparison, Drew Bledose has a 96.1 qb rating when trailing, and a 104.5 rating when ahead. Not much of a difference really.

A lot of it has to do with the margin of deficit and how much time is left in the game... if you're down by 3 or 7 in the first half you can keep your gameplan... now if youre down by 30 in the 4th, you gotta gun for it.

ya, i just discovered that they have situational stats at nfl.com, and they track ratings when "ahead", "ahead by 6-9", "ahead by 10-" etc., and the stats for Eli aren't really that noticeable in terms of difference.

Eli single-handedly kept the Giants in the game in the firts half. It was the worst defensive game I've seen us play since we gave up 50 points to the Redksins a number of years ago, and if Eli wan't being superman in the first half we would've gotten blown out even more than we did.
