Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, and Bonnie Bernstein this week.

Finally, some decent commentators. One of the benefits of winning is that we are more likely to get the top broadcast teams. You won't hear Phil Simms making reference to "The Drive" being on "this field" (Invesco Field? Besides the fact that - stating the obvious here - the game was played in Cleveland, even if it had been played in Denver, "this field" wasn't even a little stadium sperm when "The Drive" took place. Bill Maas...oy vey! PLEASE! Don't make us have to go through that ever again. The only other game we have on Fox will be the Eagles game. Hopefully, that draws Fox's best team).

Well, it's a combination, really. The Patriots wouldn't be getting CBS' top team if they were playing the Texans this week.

I hope the Broncos not only win convincingly, but also the announcers are so syrupy and profuse with their kudos, accolades and praise that the entire fandom of the chievies and the faiders are left with permanent and total brain damage from tossing their cookies and losing their grips. Maybe we will get lucky and it will nauseate Boob so much that he will leave the Board and never return.

I could live with that.

I found a link that shows you having the Cowboys game as the early game. Then the late CBS game is Chiefs-Chargers. The late Fox game is Eagles-Broncos.

If that turns out to be incorrect, don't crucify me. But that is as per DirecTv for the Dallas area.

And there is nothing that pisses you off more than to wake up, go through your pregame routine, get all your food ready - and find out the game was switched at the last minute for Texans-Saints, or something similar.

I sat down for a big Mavericks game last season after anticipating for weeks. I double checked the local listings to make sure that the game was on before I made my plans, and to my pleasure it was listed. I sat down and turned on the game only to find "Moesha" or something like that on with no Mavs game. I was so upset that I called Cox cable headquarters and complained to everyone that I could. ~Popps~

No, that is the local channel lineup for your area. I just use DirecTv's guide because I always know where it is. But the DirecTv part, in your case, is irrelevent.

So, unless your local programming people have a change of heart at the last minute, you should be good to go.

You know, I was surprised at Troy Aikman. He was the most insightful announcer we have had this year, in my opinion. I have been paying more attention to him the last few weeks, and I really think he does a great job.

I hear you on DirecTv. I wouldn't live without it. And God bless technology in general, man. There was a time when I subscribed to both the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News - in Utah. I would have them delivered by mail, and get them three or four days after they were issued. When Sunday Ticket came out, I bought one of those satellite dishes that filled my backyard so that I could get it. Now, with a tiny dish and the Internet, I have access to everything.

Classic (well, kind of anyway) Randy Cross bonehead comments during Redskins game:

1. "Remember - this is the very field on which John Elway led 'The Drive' to beat Cleveland."

2. While viewing shot from a field-level camera with rainwater all over the lens: "That's not rain on the lens . . . that's just how bad the visibility is on the field right now."

Madden is just a fixture, though. Putting him on that list is like saying "Larry King is a terrible interviewer." That is true, but he's probably bigger than any list.

Funny you should mention Siragusa . . . this will sound weird, but he is an EXCELLENT DRAMATIC ACTOR!

There's this movie "The 25th Hour" - damn fine film by Spike Lee. A gritty, street-type crime film. But like his film "Clockers", you'd never guess was by Spike - so don't let that stop you from renting it.

Anyway, Siragusa has a pretty big role in the film - and he is excellent. He was SO good, that when I kept telling my girlfriend, "that guy looks a lot like this big fat football player for the Ravens a couple years back," we both figured 'no way' because he was SO good (freaking SPOT-ON russian accent). We both just assumed he was a professional actor who just LOOKED LIKE Siragusa. Then the credits, and my jaw dropped.

Seriously - - rent "25th Hour" and "Clockers," and another similar gritty street crime film - about poker - "Rounders." Three semi-unknown 4-Star films.

You know, that HBO special on the Ravens training camp didn't do any of those guys any favors. It was great tv, but a lot of people ended up despising Ray Lewis, Tony Siragusa, and Brian Billick in the process.

They're three people that are just a little too overbearing and full of themselves to have in your livingroom every week.

Mediocre TV sportstalk sighting...Dallas doofus on low rent cable channel 52...I didn't catch his name but he's a complete homer...was pouring the koolaid and said,

The Cowboys need to stop that Denver running game with Mike Anderson, and...that...Florida State runner...I mean Oklahoma State runner...from controling the ball. Their wide recievers don't scare me with old man Rod Smith catching the ball so we should be able to stop their passing game with Jake Plummer...

Couple of things...

1) Tatum Bell played high school football here in the Dallas area
2) Rod's a year older than Keyshawn Johnson

This is why I get disgusted listening to Homers...in this forum as well...because it's irritating and shows that you're lazy. If you're a sports talk geek on television...even a 3rd rate TV station like this one, and you can't at least get the NAMES of the opposing players right, especially one that went to high school in your own town...

Should you even be on the air? I say no.

Okay, next time I see it, I'll get it. But if it sucks, I am coming after you for my $4 rental fee! :boxing:
I have violated my CARDINAL RULE in this recommendation - that one should never over-recommend on a movie! Inevitably, when such expectations are so raised, even great films are eventually judged "okay" or "pretty good".

I learned this in late Summer, 1988 when I saw "Die Hard" by semi-mistake (the others were soldout). I RAVED about it to my friend Mark. He went, and later said, "it was PRETTY good, but not great."

DomCasual, I hope your expectations have not been too highly raised . . . but since I raised them, I will send the $4 if you don't like it.

I'll tell you about my over-recommend story. I was working down in Texas with my girlfriend's dad and uncle in the late 80's. We decide to go see a movie one night, and I recommend Bull Durham. I thought it was a great movie, but I had watched it with a bunch of my buddies. In that environment, I didn't consider it racy in the slightest.

Well, these are two relatively distinguished, 50-something men - and both are fairly religious. It turns out, I hadn't recalled some of the off-colored humor and sex in the movie, and it was uncomfortable, to say the least. About thirty minutes into it, they get up and leave. You could cut the tension with a knife.

She ended up dumping me, but I am still decent friends with her parents. I still cringe when I think of that.

I really feel for the Broncomaniacs in the Land of Enchantment. The Broncos rival the Cowboys as the marquee team there and they get screwed because the Kansas City-Dallas game is more attractive. Dallas is only on CBS twice a year, too!

What a shame that our friends in Durango are going to be forced to watch the Chiefs over the in-state team!

We Bronco fans have been spoiled with HDTV broadcasts as well. The Baltimore game will be only the 2nd game this season that is not broadcast in HDTV. I think all the remaining games after this one will be in HD.

Yep, it's Criqui and Beuerlein. Where did you read that so early in the week? I never see it until Thursday or Friday.
