More people aren't talking about Paymah's stupid play on the last drive that almost cost us the game. Nothing said about it in the press other than a very brief blurb or two. His two mistakes were huge and did you see the look
Shanny gave him when he jerked him out of the game after his spearing call?
I figured he might end up on waivers this morning. I know we didn't lose the game but............. it sure made it interesting when we had them stopped w/ Warren's sack.

While your likely to get rep from DF for that......
It was actually Ian's fault. ;D

I have a feeling he should have felt every fan giving him the same steely eye he was getting from Shanahan.... I know I called him a few unflattering names....

I still think this is valuable experience for Pahmah, as well as the other two. If all three continue to improve a little each week then we are going to be very very tough on D.

Thats what im pumped about as well. A huge deal has been made that the Skins top 2 guys were out, but nothing on how we started 2 rookies and played fairly well. I know Brunnell had a field day, but they stepped up when it mattered and prevented the Skins into long fg's rather than tds.
Paymah is obviously behind the other 2 guys but that holding call was invisible to me, i didnt see where that could have been called. BS call, but refs will make those time to time. The spear WAS just plain dumb by him.

Well he took one of Mock's locks, making the entire weekend even more embarrasing. He's lucky Ian made that play or he would be a MAJOR goat if we lost. I was getting a creeping feeling on that last drive....especially nervously watching the gamecenter on NFL on that two point try....skin of the teeth...and anyone who bet on Denver to cover lost because of that penalty as well.
This no contact rule went ludicrous after the mauling New England gave a couple SuperBowls ago...the crazy thing is the refs let them do virtually the same thing last year....DB's have been punished for decades now. First you could basically do anything but hold till the ball was in the air. Now if a DB breaths on a WR, it's illegal contact.
The problem was LB's mauling WR's just outside the 5 yard barrier, up to the 8 or 9 with no call. NE perfected it.

Paymah was in because Fox was on the sidelines. Is there anything in print of why Fox was out? I heard cramps.

Nevermind.
Paymah feels heat
When Foxworth came out of the game on the final drive for a few plays with cramping, Paymah, took his place, playing in only his second NFL game. It was a rough go.
Denver defensive tackle Gerard Warren sacked Brunell on fourth down with 2:37 left to essentially wrap up the game with Denver leading 21-13. But Paymah, a third-round pick from Washington State, was called for defensive holding. Three plays later, after an incomplete pass on third-and-10 from Denver's 46, Paymah was penalized 15 yards for spearing Moss.
He was then taken out and Foxworth returned.
"I was just trying to finish the play," Paymah said of his second penalty. "It was tough, but we won the game."
Shanahan said despite the penalties, he was pleased that Paymah was playing aggressively.
As for Foxworth, he was stunned that he had to leave a game with such chilly conditions because of cramping.
"I didn't cramp once in Jacksonville or Miami," Foxworth said. "I guess I didn't drink enough water."
Despite missing some action, Foxworth was lauded by Shanahan for his play in his second consecutive start. Foxworth started at cornerback in place of Bailey, who sat out with a hamstring injury.
"He played great," Shanahan said of the third-round pick from Maryland. "Another great game for him. When he went out of the game, we really missed him."

Even after the rook mistake of letting a referee, and really a horrible call, force him to let his emotions get the best of him. Even with the mistake (the spearing call, and not the David Patten has both hands full of my jersey, so let's call the rook for defensive holding), he is still a much better improvement at CB than Roc or Walls.

I really can not gripe on rookies. They are being thrown into the fire and out playing the vets. If Carl is making bone headed plays in week 12 Ill complain, but in his second game action, nah.

exactly, and the great thing about getting thrown into the fire is they are learning. You can tell from game to game they have continually gotten better. They all play good man-man, zone D not so great, but with the type of D we play, thats ok.
