I beg forgiveness if this was posted earlier...
Raiders | Sapp Fined
Sun, 9 Oct 2005 10:30:01 -0700
Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports Oakland Raiders DL Warren Sapp was fined a total of $7,500 for two separate hits on Dallas Cowboys QB Drew Bledsoe during the Week 4 game.
Is there a surpise here? I think not :)

I'm surprised!
I didn't think he could get to the quarterback anymore.

R Barber of the Bucs should expect a nice fine coming his way. How he wasn't ejected for punching the ref is unbelievable. The ref had a cut above his eye for crying out loud and they still didn't eject his ass.

That's friggin weak. He had Bledsoe around the waist wasn't head to head or anything.

I didn't see the plays in question and with the league's track record of handing out BS fines, I won't comment on the validity of the ruling.
And if there's any QB who Sapp could get to, it's Nancy Drew. His lack of mobility makes Brian Griese look like Michael Vick.

I agree but he was stupid. He body slammed Bledsoe. He didn't have to. The refs like to throw flags and they like to protect the QBs. Knowing this Sapp should have known better than to body slam the guy.

The NFL needs to think about what these fines do to the real world. How many jobs will be lost now that Sapp doesn't have that 7,500 to spend at Crispy Cream?

It was more of a hip toss. Bledsoe's not exactly a little dude and Sapp just used his leverage to put him down.

I also couldn't believe that.

See, and I thought Broncos players were the only ones fined in this league.
Aside from that...it was just a strange weekend in the NFL. I didn't watch as many of the games as I would have liked but it was a rough and tumble day to be an official in the NFL.
I wonder how much those guys make.

Well if Bledsoe would have went in the turtle position like Jake does when he is sacked, he would have not gotten slammed.
I loved the tackle, Drew is a big guy and a tough guy, he can take it.

They don't make a lot, but they're all juiced in croneys of various League officials. Unlike virtually every other sport, there is no real merit system and they're not full time officials.
