Hope this wasn't posted already.
Seems Plummer was the only player in the league not to wear the required Futbol Americano decal last week.

I find it pretty funny.
Maybe he's a little ticked about the whole Tillman decal thing.

If your read around their rumor page PFT was the first to report it and their treating it like they found he cure for cancer.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm

When the NFL opted not to fine Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer for his blatant violation of the league's OCD-fueled uniform policy resulting from his failure to wear the "Futbol Americano" decal, our theory was that the league decided that the best way to keep the whole thing quiet (and thus not dampen last weekend's Latin love-fest) was to give Jake a pass.

If, after all, Plummer had been hit for five large or more for refusing to wear the decal, which we're told was directly related to the guff he got from the league last year when he wore the Pat Tillman decal, the move surely would have landed on the wire services -- and would have been mentioned in newspapers and over el mundo.

We think that the powers-that-be within the wire services and all other national media outlets picked up on this "wink, nod" from the NFL, opting to ignore the inherently compelling story of a starting NFL quarterback flipping Una Paloma Blanca to the league office for reasons tracing back to the tragic death of his former teammate and friend.

We're still holding out hope that the sock puppets in the pregame shows will mention the decal debacle on Sunday. But why do we have a feeling that they've already gotten a memo that it's not to be discussed?

Thanks for posting! Love your Big John Lynch avatar.

I normally call people who want all the world to be the same and everyone to be just like them communists. Jake is his own man. I have a lot of respect for that.

If it comes up they can also remind our southern neighbors that they can't order a Ron Mexico jersey from the official NFL shop. Of course they could always settle for a Ron Canada, or Ron France, or Ron Cuba..... etc.

Jake is definetly of the "old school mentality". I've met him a couple times and he really seems to be a regular "Joe" who doesn't care about the little things but seems to stay focused on what is important........ Winning football games and honoring his fallen friend. I respect the hell out of him for that. Infact Jake was the first Broncos player to take the time to sign OF1. He basically stopped traffic one day to hop out of his non-flashy non-bling bling car to give us a little bit of his time.

Funny story about Jake. We were at his first practice as a Bronco player. When he got off the field the media swarmed him. A bunch of us fans were chanting Superbowl! Superbowl! He stepped out of the circus and walked towards all of us and pumped his arm in the air in excitement! That was cool that his first real big moment of being a Broncos player he gave to the fans.

Now Jake just tighten up those balls down the field and get us a ring some day! :pimp:

So basically, he's like the Anti-Randy Moss/Terrell Owens?

I like that :D

Its not important to me that he honor his fallen friend. Its important to me that he doesn't antagonize the League Office and then get distracted and start playing like crap again. I'm tired of him using a public forum for his personal tribute.

I dont think that its that cut and dried. I think that he is simply deferring to honor over advertising. No big deal unless you are in the NFL promotions dept.

I bet anyone whos been in the league for a while would stop giving a damn about insignificant things like wearing or not wearing a 1 inch sticker on his helmet. The league officials are the ones that act like they own the players souls.

But yeah, hope he doesnt get distracted. If the media makes a big deal out of it Jake gets distracted and start throws the ball at the back if his centers head.

His very public display of grieving is quite honorable. You know, remembering exactly what a self effacing individual Pat Tillman was, that entire decal tribute was about the last thing he would have wanted. Actually, seeing Jake blow it up into a personal war with the League Office was probably the last thing he would have wanted.

Except, this stopped being about Pat Tillman a while ago, didn't it? Especially now. Now its about a well paid, but angry employee that just can't accept that League rules apply to everybody. Now its about spite.

You know, in some utopian football league, everybody could have tributes to their fallen friends or personal heroes adorning their uniforms. Hell, guys could even compete for the nicest Tupac tribute.

Too bad the No Fun League doesn't play that ****.

I don't know if you've ever heard of this thing... It's green, and you can buy things with it. It's called currency, and in America we sometimes refer to it as the Almighty Dollar.
