I still think Rich Karlis was better. If for no other reason, because the guy kicked with a bare foot. In Denver! How hard core is that?

Karlis was great and awesome too. I mean how many times can a kicker hit the goal post in one mediocre career??? He must have the record,

When was the last time Elam missed a game winning kick?? I have no clue. The only ones I can think of were blocked. Elam is great I can't believe this is even a disscussion. It's kind of embarrassing actually.

I can't even go outside in the winter on my front porch to get the paper without my shoes on. But this guy kicked footballs. He even had imitators kicking without shoes. The barefoot thing is truly bizarre, when looked at in retrospect. What possible advantage could it give you? And he had to play in some snowy games! I used to try kicking barefoot when I was playing high school football, just to see what it was like. It was, to say the least, unpleasant - especially when the temperature got below about 50 degrees.

Who else kicked barefoot? Didn't Tony Franklin of the Eagles do it? And I vaguely remember a Cowboys kicker, too.

I remember that game. They were blown out, and Shanahan said after the game that he was worried Reeves would think we were trying to run up the score, going for two after every touchdown.

Those were the days. I miss worrying about things like the other team thinking we were trying to run up the score on them.

that freakin ball was just laying on the ground. i cant recall the holder but he calmly picked it up and the kick was good.

Mike Lansford of the Rams did it. I found an NFL films segment on it - kind of interesting. There were also some punters that did it for a few years in the 80's.
