You can count me in for the SD tailgate again. That was a blast out there this year. Good thing you'll be behind the Broncos bench CBF1. You can use those loud pipes of yours to yell "Jake run the freakin ball!"
So I guess we are now officially kicking off the 2005 tailgating season :)
Bet we end up with more Broncos fans at this years bash at Mile High west! :woowoo:

I know it was a big game last year for Sd...let me rephrase that. That game last year was one of the biggest SD has had in years. That was one crazy tailgate scene. Those bandwagoners showed up in full force. The Broncos fans were definetly well represented but there was a freakin sea of tailgaters in general. It was awesome. Game could have been awesome. Oh so close and oh soo painful.

Where did the OF1 crew stay last year?
We stayed at the this place. Madak (fellow Orangemaner) recommended it to me last minute last year. Decent place only 1.8 miles to the stadium. They are basic rooms I guess. Right next to the highway so not the most peaceful place while your on your balcony but it was very reasonable and the place was full of Broncos fans. Infact the place was crawling with them. The hotel was nice enough to give us a private spot on the side of the hotel to gather at in the lot around the bus. Only problem was when the late night manager came out and there were more than a dozen people hanging out on the bus, the tailgate tents set-up, stereo going, BBQ blazing, he got a little pissed and said we had to wrap it up. :)
I can tell you that it's alot of fun to hang out at the Broncos hotels before the game. We did that in KC and Indy. They usually stay at the high end places but we could always shack up at some place like this one and roll over on the bus. It's a great opportunity to catch players when they are just walking around the hotel to get autographs.

The hotels are filling up fast! Lots of "unavailable for these dates on expedia"...
This is helpful info, though.
If you don't want to worry about getting in and out of the Stadium parking lot and want an opportunity to meet other fans, take advantage of the bus and trolley services that will bring you to the Stadium.
Bus
San Diego Transit provides express buses for Charger games, weekend Padre games, Holiday Bowl and other major special events. For Bus information, call "InfoExpress" (619) 685-4900 or (619) 234-5005 TTY (hearing impaired).
Trolley
The Stadium trolley station is located at Section J in the Stadium parking lot. The Blue Line Trolley operates every 15 minutes, except between Old Town and the Stadium, where trains run every three to five minutes starting three hours before game time. If you are planning on taking the trolley, we suggest you park in Old Town or the Hazard Center.
Post-game trolley departures are every 4 minutes (between the Stadium and Old Town) and every 15 minutes on the rest of the system. Round trip tickets range from $1.50 to $4.50.
Kids ride free on weekends! On Saturday and Sundays, the trolley is free for two children (12 and younger) when accompanied by one fare-paying passenger.

Broncomaniacs always show up in full force in San Diego. There will be a "Sea of Orange" in many sections of Jack Murphy Stadium.
In fact, the Broncos can claim Jack Murphy as theirs! The Broncos won a Vince Lombardi Trophy on that field. It must suck being a Dolt fan knowing that your division rival won a championship on your home turf. Since there will never be another Super Bowl at Jack Murphy, the Broncos will always own a bigger W on that field that the Dolts will never be able to match.

HERE I AM!
I ended up buying season tickets to keep my plaza level group of 50 in the same seats. CRAZY, HUH? So, as I spend $30K for seats just to get the Broncos' game, I can purchase extras of the New Year's Eve Game. They will be around $60 for Upper View East End Zone, $80 for View East/West Endzone Row 5-18 and $90 for View Sidelines Row 5 -18. This will include some food and beer. This makes the people get there ASAP to tailgate. As you might remember, I had a group of 50 Broncos' fans for the last 12 years. Probably get parking passes later like last year so we are all together in the same area. Wrist bands will be given to all who purchase to make sure they get their beer/soda and grub away from the freeloaders. This is based on first come first serve from other season tix holders so hurry and find out if you or others need them ASAP. San Diego will be selling out all their games this year and Broncos' tixs will probably be going for over $100 this year especially if there is playoff implications. Interested parties, please email me at quickadflyer@earthlink.net

Just talked to the Chargers and they said the parking price might go up to $17 from $10! Unbelievable rip off! I know we pay more sometimes around Denver but this lot is sooooo huge it is absolutley a crime what they are pulling. We need to arrange Carpool, bus, etc. For this. If you are not using your car for tailgatting, trolley or other transportation would be best. Fight them at their own game. If we do this early enough, we can make this successful every year. Meck, hope it doesnt rain again like last year. We had our 2nd wettest year in LA/OC. I can't imagine it happening two years in a row!
BTW: Staying in Orange County ( about 1 to 1 1/4 hour away) can be an option. Train goes right to trolleys to stadium. If out of towners stay all at one spot, pre new year's eve party would be nice.

Please put on the glasses and reread my post. I have 50 I also can buy more as a season ticket holder to the Chargers. I listed all areas that OrangeManers can buy (if I run out of my 50 tickets). So, instead of asking me if maners were sitting together (if they all get them from here and are broncos' fans then I would say YES). So, if you really think my words hurt your delicate feelings, then go buy soemwhere else, maybe not sit with other Broncos fans and pay double. You arent doing me a favor, I am doing Broncos' fans a favor and I love to do it. That's why i bought so many season tixs, so I can be with other Broncos' fans! So take my post for what it's worth. If your ego is dmaged, I hope it is worth paying $90 or more (and not have as good as seats as mine). This isnt a "business". I can sell these for way more and make a ton more money. I do it so we all can not only party together, but to sit together. I am supplying all Maners if needing tickets, so where would you sit then? If you can suck your damaged pride, I will still sell you what you need, because what matters is that we all party together!
BTW: Dont think you are number one fan in OC or So Cal. I am. Where are your season seats in Denver? Did you really need to play it like this broncocalijohn?

The tickets are mailed out on Friday. Should have by Wednesday. Let me know when you get with PM. Anybody out there, I have Row 8 and 9 waiting for Orange Maners. I posted all the info on page 3 here at this discussion forum. This should be a great pre new year's party. Will we see midnight or be passed out drunk?Just sent my money order for the tickets a second time...stupid bank put an I instead of a 1. I might have a hookup for an onfield trip the night of the bowl game. Just have to put my officer rank on my uniform and dress up for the game. But the GF and I are coming to party. I talked to the parking lot people on Friday and we will have the same spots we had last year. The bus will be in lot N next to the wall with an additional 20-30 feet on the other side of the wall for tents and overflow room. I will post a map when I get things finalized.

Hell yeah! Im going to be there since calijohn hooked me up and i think he still has some left. Anyway its going to be a Kickass pre-game party and post-game party. One thing im worried about is the traffic since im coming from Thousand Oaks, CA near CBF1. Probably should get a room for two nights right? Wheres everyone staying?

What I can suggest H8r is that you are welcome to kick in the parking lot with us after the game and let the crowd die down. Now that that horrible game in KC is over, lets try to think a little more positive, at the San Diego game. Any plans set?
Meck77
12-07-2005, 02:40 PM
In the two years since OF1 has been on the road we have made it to 24 games thus far. I can't believe it has been that many. The road trips included New Orleans, San Diego, Kc, New York, Dallas, and KC again. We missed 1 home game during that time with the bus simply because we needed a break. Bascially our record for making it to Broncos games we planned on going to is 23 out of 24. Not bad considering all the things that can go wrong with a 1987 Greyhound bus and the logistics of planning tailgates across the country. In addition to those games we also flew out to a few more away games. That is basically 1 full year of travelling if you take out the offseason.
Unfortunately Disco Man and Myself will not be taking the bus to San Diego. We simply need some time off to spend some time with our families as that roadtrip would have easily taken a week or more. The tailgate is still in effect as I will coordinate the efforts with CBF1 and BroncoCaliJohn. Only difference is the bus won't be there. We'll be flying out a day or two before the game.
I feel fortunate that with over 20,000 mile driven since we've had the bus that it hasn't been damaged and we haven't had any major repair work to do. We've definetly had our fare share of adversity and several close calls with semis rubbing our mirros and breaking them at over 60 mph on narrow roads. That was scarry and could have been disasterous. We also managed to avoid a car that flipped over infront of us on our first drive out of town to remodel the bus. Some of you may remember that story. With that being said OF1 has completed her 2nd year of road trips.
We will still be at the Ravens and Raider game (with of1) and flying to the SD tailgate.
If any of the bus crew who helped build this bus see this thread I want to apologize to you guys as I know you were looking forward to this trip and seeing your work in action. I'll make it up to you guys with another trip in the early spring. I'll take you anywhere you guys want to go.
In the end though it's the people that make a tailgate special and not a bus. I think the bus has given a physical address for people to meet up with one another but many of you travelling to this game have already come by and know one another. To those of you who haven't been to a tailgate I hope you can come by next year in Denver. The bus will be at all the homes games for sure and we'll pick a couple road games when the schedule shakes out.
See you in SD.

I truely am bumed out meck, i told soo many people about your bus and i haven't even seen it myself. Man, this sucks. Well, hopefully the tailgating will still be as crazy as i anticipated it would, will we still be in lot C or whatever or is it gonna be somewhere else. I would suggest we try to gather as many fans as possible and make the best of it.

2438 sorry dude. Trust me when I called Tucson to tell those guys I was told I screwed up the plans of 25 people. I'm not sure how I did that by not taking the bus but that is beside the point.
Honestly we just need to hop on a flight like the rest of you guys do and enjoy a tailgate without the 40 hours of driving and work involved with doing a tailgate. Not to mention I can fly there for less than $300 bucks and the expense of driving OF1 to SD and back is about $1,250 just in gas. Not to mention the 4-5 days I lose working while driving. I'm not sure why I'm justifying myself again but I need time with my family. That is the main reason.
I was real close to scraping the NY tailgate when diesel was over $3.49 gallon but we still did the trip since we had never taken the bus to the East Coast and there were simply too many events plan to back out.
Anyway the SD tailgate and game will be great even if a big hunk of metal isn't sitting in the parking lot.

Ya geez, cut Meck, Disco and crew some freaking slack here. This guy busts his butt regularly to host rocking tailgates for the OM faithful and bronco fans all around. I'm suprised Meck did not decide this sooner actually. They've been all over the damn country this fall and the need to spend some QT with their families, seems like a reasonable thing to do around the holidays to me.
There should more more thank yous to the OF1 crew than anything around here. The tailgate will still rock people!! It going to be a fantastic time.

Can't say I blame you a bit, Meck... with the back to back road trips (to Dallas and then KC), I was wondering how you guys do it... it has to be exhausting, as well as a significant expense. Many props for all that you guys do... you truly do go above and beyond for each and every tailgate. I'm sure there's gonna be a rocking party in SD even if the bus isn't in town. Hoist a couple of brewskis for us. :D

Ok guys here is the deal. I just exchanged emails with BroncoCaliJohn. Anyone that bought tix from him is covered at his tailgate but I know there are alot of people going that didn't get tix from him. I'm going to be in contact with him to see where his group is set up. He has 50 people to take care of already so it looks like we'll have to arrange our own stuff which is understandable. John has been more than gracious to sell tix to Broncos fan at face value when he could have easily made a small fortune.
CBF1 you out there man? Really all we need is a couple coolers and a BBQ and a table. I'll be flying out a couple days before the game so I'll have time to gather up some brew/grub etc.
Who else is driving to the game that might be able to help with some of these basic needs? I'd be nice to group as many Broncos fans in one area as possible.

On a side note. With this many of us being intown I was wondering if we should plan on meeting somewhere for a New Years Eve party if people want a place to meet up after the game?
*edit* There is a Broncos bar somewhere in SD. Forget the name of it. Just an idea?

Well you mean 48 hour drive time round trip. I drove back myself after I dropped the crew off in Tucson. It took me several days to make it home. The bus really had alot of loose ends then so everytime I need to change the volume on the stereo or change a CD I had to stop the bus....lmao
The one bright spot was pulling into a casino in New Mexico. I just needed a break. I ended up playing roulette for like 5 hours and winning enough money to fill the tank up. It's a big tank!;D
I think I mentioned this. Mile High Jester is taking his rig down. I'm going to talk to him Sunday about centralizing the tailgate around his ride and next to BroncoCali's tailgate.

TAILGATE IS IN SECTION D5 NEAR MARQUEE OFF OF FRIARS ROAD ENTRANCE. Mailed my check for $80 for the spot and waiting to hear from ace parking about a keg permit. This saves a lot of money instead of cans/bottles. They do make better arsenal than plastic cups though (just kidding i dont want a war between tailgating fans as we are on THEIR turf!). Even though meck mentioned i will be swamped with the 50 bronco fan party, do not hesitate to come by and tailgate in the section d5. Only a few cars can park in the group parking so most are parking right next to it. Anyone can tailgat there also. I just have some beer/drinks and grub for the 50 that got tixs through me. By all means, lets make this 150 strong. JUST DONT TOUCH MY FOOD OR BEER! lol
If this is big and successful, I am sure Meck will have the bus for coming years again. I think SD should be the big destination for away games. Great weather, many broncos fans live in area, great place for out of towners to visit and charger fans actually likeable make this a great destination annually. If you have a motor home, bring it!

At this point AK, I would say root for the Chiefs on Sat. This has been an rediculously overpriced ticket on places like ebay and the ticket sites (Stubhub, ticketfirm, etc) I think you should not have a problem getting them on game day. If SD loses and Pitt wins this weekend, there should be plenty of tickets around Qualcomm.

ok I just got this message from BroncoCaliJohn. Some of you know him from the local tailgate and some of you have a wrist ban for some grub and beer that bough tix from him. Being that he can't accomodate every Broncos fan around we'll set up another tailgate near his. This is his message.........
"I have section d 5 under the marquee. Anyone at Orangemane can set up in the same section, just it would be at the regular parking spot right across from my section. .Orangemaners can park 20 feet from me! Just tell them D5 near the marquee."
I'm not sure what the marquee is but we'll find out soon enough. I also spoke with CBF1 the other day and he's going to help out with the tailgate as well as the rest of you that want to help bring stuff. We already had some volunteers in this thread. I'm going to call the Chargers to see if I can prepay for spots or if it's a first come first serve basis.

That is definetly a BroncoCaliJohn question. I asked him to pop in the tailgate forum soon. I'm sure he will to answer questions like this. I know his tailgate is maxed out as he has something like 50 broncos fans already signed up with his group that includes some of you guys. This is the reason I thought it made sense to group all the tailgating up as some have wrist bands and most will not. Also it's always great to have more Broncos fans in one place to mingle with. The more the merrier!
I didn't get a chance to call the chargers today but it's on my list to do first thing tomorrow.

The whole wristband thing is my scam. I am eating all the food and beer in my 1260 square foot, roped off section. I will throw hotdog weinies at all who try to hurdle the rope. I will roll open cans of beer down and watch the free for all. I will laugh at those trying to smell the bbq. I am the tailgate nazi and scream, "no meat for you!" Ok, not true. I will probably have wristbands as we meet that morning. I will try to leave around 8am from OC so I can arrive around 9 30 am. I will mark the back of the ticket as I hand the wristband out. Parking is in the corner where you pay to park from Friars road. You will see the marquee lit up. Meck, you cannot prepay for parking. I believe it opens around 6am. I found out keg permits for groups are only $25 but they need a liability insurance of $1 million so unless anyone wants to use their insurance from their business, it might cost around $400 for the one day---- not worth it. I will have my Simon Fletcher jersey on #73 so look out for that. I hope to get Pops to make some of his hot ass chili. It looks like chicken and hamburgers/weiners, chips, maybe corn also. If im getting beer by the can, I hope i can get 150 to 180 but that will cost about 55% to 60% of the total amount. Then again beer is very important! Hopefully costco has good prices on bulk meat and such. This is why it is still a good idea to bring some food just in case it runs out. Beer probably wont but food might. 6 beers per person sounds just right if started at the proper time of 10am. That is 2 per hour. I never calculated the charge for the spot but lesson learned for next year. Any questions u can post here or private message me.

I have a call in to Meck and jester... Call me back guys :)
I'll hit you up today but can you pm me your number. I couldn't save it while at the Buffalo tailgate as I had to run back to the grill and it rotated out of the memory.
Looks like things are coming together! BroncoCali...I wasn't suggesting you couldn't handle extra people but I know what's it's like to have alot more tailgaters show up than what is expected. Worst thing in the world is to run out of beer. It's only happened to us a couple times in over 30 tailgates that last couple years....between bronco ball and crush ball.
With that being said if the lot opens at 6:00am than I know what time to arrive! I want to claim my spot at that time near the marquee. Not sure how I'm riding in yet but I will contact Jester ASAP and give him this info CaliJohn. I'm sure those guys are down with rolling in at 6:00am. I'm pretty sure that is about when we intended on getting in the lot last year but we ran a little late getting some stuff. I'm pretty sure we made it by 7:30.
Really this is all pretty simple now that we have a location. Jester is always up for a raging tailgate and if he parks next to BroncoCali then he'll have a grill, BBQ, coolers etc. Really all we need is probably a couple back up coolers. 2 standard Colemans will work or one big ass cooler, perhaps a back up BBQ, and maybe 1 more table. The rest of us can bring beer, food for the grill, and a little scratch to donate or any combination of the 3.
Oh a couple of EZ up tents are always nice. I only packed one for last year and I regretted that. It rained like hell on us for a couple days there. Odds are it won't rain but if it does it sure puts a damper on a tailgate. A couple of tarps and bunji cords are always usefull . I'll give jester a couple mind to haul down if he has room/tarps etc. If not it would be cool if someone could be a few of them for backup.
Then whoever is driving can just pull into D5 with their cars sporting Broncos colors and we are set! The rest can arrive on foot and Broncos Country has officially taken over D5!

I can ebay them up for auction but a single tix here wouldnt be bad since we are among maners and bronco fans. PM for any info. Tickets would probably be $115 including a little food gub beer drinks. Someone wanted the two for $385 for the exclusive food and beer but if that falls apart, the two single tickets would be available.

It is a Broncos Bar that is decked out in orange and blue. The place even has 5 seats from old Mile High Stadium.

I'm wondering if this isn't a good place to gather for new years? Is is far from the stadium?

It's pretty far from the stadium. At least a 25-35 minute car ride. Getting cabs from North SD back to the Stadium area on New Years could be a bitch. What about catchin up there on the 30th?

Don't really have a plan. I'm staying downtown at the Marriot. Me and some other Broncos fans are heading to the zoo tomorrow (Myself, BroncosFanNz and some other guys from the Freaks. Friday evening I think we just plan on bouncing around downtown. Anybody else staying downtown? I'll be at the tailgate at the crack of dawn. Going to the game. No plan for after the game. I'm flying out Sunday @ 5:00pm. No plan for sunday either.

I don't remember where the Marriot is at, but I know there is a good microbrewery a block or two from the Wyndham. They make some good suds there if you're looking for a watering hole downtown.

Yeah no kidding. Honestly I'm all planned out.....Just winging this one and looking forward to it. So much planning goes into a bus trip that this trip is actually a big relief. I'll be showing up to tailgate with beer, beef etc like the rest of ya!:militia: I'll be there early to help CBF1, 2438 and others who have BBQ, tents, etc to set up. Might even jump in on the grill and flip some stuff around a bit! I figure there will be plenty of NYE plans bouncing around the tailgate to choose from.
From what I'm reading we should be all set if everyone brings what they said they will! I doubt will have a white board like we were talking about in the other thread.lol
You'll just have to run around the tailgate yelling "Im Sassy! I'm sassy!";D
GO BRONCOS!

Costco run and ran out of money so i am back to pick up the rest of the coors, miller and bud light on friday. Section d5 name is under CLAYCOMB if any of the Plaza 54 ticket people want to set up their tables, chairs, etc. Just park as close to the group section as possible. Im thinking 100 to 150 total (our 50 plus 100 from orangemane and broncos' fans noticing a great party). MY only problem is getting my huge bbq in the truck so if it doesnt happen, i hope others have the grill. MEck, u want to help grill? Ill take that offer!

12-30-2005, 05:11 AM
Well, my flight is actually at 2:48 pm but I'm on standby for the 1:30 and am going earlier than that to see if I can get on the 11 am out of Fargo...there are only two flights out of Minneapolis and since there is bad weather here, I want to be sure I can get there...long day in airports...but it will be worth it!

Me too! I checked and there are a couple of seats available on the 11 so far...but they won't guarantee unless I rebook.
...and even our small airport has a bar!
