Seeing is believing. After spending the offseason coming up with one-liners about Mike Shanahan's decision to import the Cleveland Browns defensive line into the Mile High City, it's time to come clean.

Shanahan made one of the best series of acquisitions of the offseason. It may not be have been as big as adding Randy Moss to the Raiders offense. It may not be the final piece of a Super Bowl move such as the Colts' late signing of defensive tackle Corey Simon. Adding the Cleveland Foursome might not create the dramatic defensive improvement expected from the Chiefs acquisitions of Patrick Surtain, Kendrell Bell, Derrick Johnson and Sammy Knight or Bill Parcells' aggressive switch to the 3-4. But just three weeks into the season, we're now believers that Shanahan & Co. made the right moves.

At least Clayton is man enough to sack up and admit his previous misjudgement.

I doubt we'll get similar recognition from the usual has beens like Pastabelli, Pete Crisco, PFT, PFW etc etc who were all harping on about how we signed mistake after mistake in the Browncos and Shanny was collecting turds etc. Hell Bang even had a cartoon about it!

I think Pat Kirwan of NFL.com was the ONLY analyst who broke it down logically back in the summer when he said that the Broncos gave up next to nothing (4th round pick, minimal cap dollars, Droughns) for the Browncos, so that even if ONE of the four DL came through as a good starter then it would have been a solid move. Kudos to him for calling it like it is and for Clayton to admit it now.

Engelberger makes $1.265 million. To keep defensive end Reggie Hayward, the Broncos would have had to spend $7 million on just his signing bonus. The Broncos got four Cleveland defensive linemen talented enough to start and Engelberger for the same price.

The penny finally drops.

If all of those so called experts admitted they were wrong it would take the rest of the season to read through all those articles. Most of them aren't going to eat crow.

I'd wait until the season is over before you start patting Shanny on the back...this team has been here before.

I'm with you, I'll celebrate per week, with every win we get, but I'm not looking ahead

I hate to sound like coach speak

but you have to look at each game individually, it's not like we haven't gacked in the middle of the year before

Salisbury said last night on blitz that all the media who criticized the off seasons moves of the Broncos should stand up and apoligize as he did.

I have to admit that I wasn't happy about the first three picks all being corners, I wanted some o-lineman. But yesterday those picks looked like genius. I agree that all that could change in a couple of weeks, but so far Shanahan seems to have had a great offseason.

What's next? An article about how the Broncos have developed two outstanding young Quarterbacks?

An article about how the Chiefs improving the speed of their linebacking corp didn't prevent the Broncos from executing the rollout?

Heavens. What is this world coming to.

I would disagree with that statement right now. The DL additions for the Broncs ad more to the team than Moss is adding to the Fade.

He also said that Corey Simon and Surtain/Bell were both much better acquisitions. Still hanging on to that ego. Hang on 'cause I know that your gonna lose the fight...

Amen. I am happy with this state of things... but there is much work to do.
